I have the same tappeting noise coming from my 2.2L transit custom, also heard it on quite a few transits of a similar age. Does this fix the problem for good?
Hi David,yeah it stopped it all together.the turbo actuator had gone,so was overboosting and going in limp mode.at the same time it developed this knock which was really bad,but only under acceleration,this video was just because I was chuffed at such an easy fix,and was only a loose pair of injectors.it had had new injectors 5k before I bought it,so wether they didn't replace the clamp bolt,which needs to be as it's a stretch bolt.or it was something to do with overboost,I don't know. I just tightened the clamp up,and replaced the actuator and it's been OK since. Still knocks when cold,which could just be a pcm update.
They sometimes come loose. I would take the bolts out and replace. 7nm then 180 degrees. Do with the engine warm. Is it chuffing anything out the oil fill? As for turbo, it’s normally the variable vanes getting stuck that breaks the actuator. Take it off and see how easily the arm moves, should be as easy as stirring a cup of tea.
@@ardouisur I have replaced the bolts now. It did quite badly before doing the injectors so replaced rocker cover also. Still does chuff a little out of filler but no where near as bad as previously

Did the ticking stop when off throttle/engine braking ? Mine has a tick. I have changed injector seals and tightened the injectors.
