This episode of I Love The 80s: Strikes Back aired 20 years ago. It feels like a long time ago, but it really wasn’t a long time ago. I think it’s because the programming on VH1 was so watchable and entertaining back then. A damn shame how that network devolved in the years since. I refuse to watch anything from VH1 nowadays.
But anyhow, thank goodness Jody was featured on this installment of I Love The 80s because she was left out of the original installment the year before. I was too young to remember her impact when she first arrived, so these programs showed me how extremely popular she was in the music industry, as well as displayed her pop culture dominance. Also earlier that year, her 8th album Midnight Lounge finally got released in the U.S, and I wore that CD out! I still listen to that album on a regular basis.
At that time there was no other female artist who looked better than Jody Watley
