- Profiles host Mickey Burns interviews singer and songwriter Jody Watley, who has sold over 20 million albums and singles worldwide in this 10 minute episode teaser. Along with Janet Jackson and Madonna, she ranks as the most nominated female artists ever for the MTV Video Music Awards. In 1987, Watley won the Grammy Award for "Best New Artist," right after her success of her first two hits, "Looking For a New Love" and "Don't You Want Me."
Watley began her career as a dancer on the show "Soul Train," when she was only 14. Recognized as a trendsetter, her style was copied by teenage girls all over the United States. As Watley released hit after hit later in career, she also did high fashion layouts in such high profile magazines as "Harper's Bazaar," "Vogue," and "Essence." Her ability to combine music and fashion has remained an inspiration for many artists today such as Rihanna and Beyonce. In 2008, she was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Billboard Magazine for her career spanning over 25 years.

I became a dancer because of her, went to College with her sister in Chicago. She performed in a show on halsted in Chicago it was amazing, still have beautful energy in her 50s, and her skin is flawless, and she is ageless, and remember with no work done, so please dont compare her to Janet and all these other icons. And when i told her i went to School with her Sister and became a Soul train dancer and dancer because of her she cried. The fans would like to see a Shalamar reunion...Its a shame to see another person in place of Jody Watley...Jody Watley has become a wonderful solo artist...And the fans made her so she should do a reunion for the fans because it is what they request...I here what she is saying about things didnt end well..But they're all here and at some point they all need to forgive each other and do it for the fans and not just for themselves because that's how they all started...Janet and Michael discussed doing a concert but unfortunately hes gone too soon so it will never happen..But you guys are blessed to all be here and should put your differences aside for your fans...

What a poor poor interview by an amateur. Stuff about Soul Train but nothing about the Shalamar breaking up DRAMA. Why ? Because the jellyfish presenter was TOLD not to push too hard
I lover her in Shalamar and most of her 80ies work, but her speaking voice is awful. She is a very stylish and glamorous woman on stage though.
