- Down For Sound shop JP8 amplifier connected up to a Savard HiQ 12” dual 2 ohm subwoofer. The box is 2.5 cubic foot internal volume after taking into account port volume, internal bracing, and the volume taken up by the subwoofer itself. The box is tuned to 28 hz via a 13”X2”X27” port. The car is a 2018 KIA Niro hybrid.

Dope video brother
Yeah, buddy! Savard FTMFW!
Sweet banger , thinking on the savard 10 for my mazda tribute , running arc audio mids and highs.
Sub could of handled a Jp13. I have one on a single skar evl in a custom box and mannn it hits so hard!
It could easily handle a JP13, maybe even a JP23. The electrical in my car when I made this video could barely handle the JP8 so I was limited on amp size.
I see now the JP8, so for 2 12s 2000rms should be perfect. Looking to swap out my alpines for the savards.
The jp8 only does about 1350 continuous at 1 ohm at 1 percent thd and 1444 continuous up to clipping into 1 ohm. Watch big dwiz amp dyno of the jp8.
@@derkchurk5879 I have my X-15 v2 at 1ohm hook up SHE MOVES HARD AT 14.4 VDC ON MY 250 AMP ALT
@@derkchurk5879 and that’s at 14.4v. I see the subpar voltage in the mid 13s here. He’s not even getting 800watts
I want 2 dvc2 ohm Savard Hi-q 12's and the Jp23 asap.
Amp does 1200+ at 1ohm certified test and 1550 dynamic rms at 1 ohm
Yes it does but my electrical won’t support the power draw at those levels. I don’t have the amp maxed out because of that. So, realistically, it is putting out closer to 1k watts.
Cool 😎
I have a jp8 going to run a single 12" sundown E12, im wondering if i should have gone dual instead of single...
Dual voice coil or dual subs?
Hi I just ordered this amp and I am planning on setting it under the passenger side , can your amp breath good right where you have it ?
Looking great
Thank you sir!! Y’all make some incredible drivers!!
Nice setup !
That amp needs to be off the floor so the fan can breath and move the hot air out..
I agree, and it is despite what the video might look like. There is a small hump in the floor and the back edge of the amp is on that hump. So the fan is open and not blocked to circulate the air. Even with living in Texas in the summer, after a long 45 minute cranking session with the amp close to clipping the amp temp will hover around 120 degrees.
An epicenter would vastly improve your bass if u are using a stock head unit . Did u do big 3 ? Extra battery? Just installed my Jp8 i traded to my friend . Even with an extra xs battery its killing his voltage at 1 ohm . Gonna run a different sub at 2 ohms until he gets a high power alternator . Great amp love the look and the bass knob♥️. How do u like the Savard sub? They look well built haven't heard one yet. Also if u raised tuning to 30 or 32hz u would get more output especially at 32 and still be able to play low. 28hz is a really low tune unless u listen to alot of rebassed/ decaf music . Most music never plays below 30hz . With a 32 hz tuning u could play down to 24hz maybe lower depending on your car.
I agree that an Audio Control Epicenter would greatly help as it is hooked up to the stock radio. My car has 100% stock electrical and no additional battery because it is impossible to do the Big 3, and it would not help at all even if you could.
I do listen to a LOT of low frequency music, including a lot of rebassed music as well. The factory recommendations are for a tuning of 32 hz. So I changed them a little to get the 28 hz tuning.
Oh, about the Savard sub. I really like it! It rarely gets warm even after extended playing at high volume, hits the low notes with ease, and is clean! Most people that hear my setup in person comment that the bass is very clean sounding. There’s no distortion, the sun isn’t straining, there’s no odd noise the sun is making, and even at low volumes it sounds amazing!
Thats wierd im letting my buddy borrow my jp23 on his stock electrical on a 96 camry and the voltage drop is impressivly low, if he doesnt have a high output alt and 2 big batteries that could be reason though
Will two 12 handle my soundigital 12k?🎉
Yes, just clamp at about 2k per sub and it will be fine. If you don’t know how to measure the power output then do a quick search on how to do it with a multimeter and you’ll be fine.
I have a dd1 on hand
@@user-sh7ti6ru2e even better!!!!
this is the exact set up i wanna do still holding up? and how did you dim the bass knob led?
Yes, it is still holding up great! The HiQ can handle more power than what the JP8 can push, but it is still very impressive and turns heads. It won’t do any hair tricks but it can blur my vision a lot! I took the bass knob to a local place that installs window tint and they installed a piece of window tint over the LED display. You have to let it sit for a day after you do this so it can completely dry. It’s a great combination the JP8 and the 12” HiQ subwoofer!!
@@91CavGT5 do you know what % tint they used?
@@drzflyest4 I asked them to do the darkest tint they had, but I don’t know what % it was.
2% tint , and yeah I know I'm really late with the comment
You still getting good results with it? Eyeing one right now
Well, I sold the car recently but it was still doing great when I took it out. Even after having it cranked close to clipping for 45 minutes the amp did great!! If I had to do it all over again I would have bought it quicker!!!
@@91CavGT5 It looks pretty sweet. That clipping light is perfect for irresponsible people such as myself. Seems like a lot of amp for the price.
@@murrayshekelberg9754 I agree. The clip light helps to keep your subs safe, and it really is a lot of amp for the money. The JP amps are underrated and are really well built. I forsee the JP amps to be highly sought after in 10-20 years.
can you make a tutorial of how to get the 12v power from the niro?, thanks.
Unfortunately, I have sold my Niro so I can’t make a new video showing this. I can tell you that if you remove the bottom of the back seat cushion, there is a fuse box there on the driver’s side. Next to the fuse box is a bolt that can be used to get your 12 volt positive from.
What tint level do you have on the bass knob screen?
Man, I can’t remember exactly what it was. If I remember correctly, the tint shop used a mid level tint.
Is it good for 2 subs
It depends on the subs. This amp is 1/2 ohm capable, so if your subs are dual 2 ohm voice coil subs then you could wire it all in parallel to bring it down to 1/2 ohm, BUT you need the electrical in the vehicle to support it as the amp is capable of a true 1500 watts which will pull about 200 amps!!
Wired to 1 ohm or 2?
Wired to 1 ohm. In one of the videos for this sub I show how the coils are wired in parallel.
Yeah but u never state if the sub is dual 4 or 2 ohm just that its wired in parallel
@@chaos7022 My bad. The Savard HiQ 12” subwoofer is only made with dual 2 ohm coils.
@@91CavGT5 actually they are made dual 4 and dual 2 ohms sir. And you are underpowering it that’s a 1500watt rm sub.
@@josecunsako31 yes, now they do make both. When I purchased mine they only made a dual 2 ohm version. Yes it is underpowered but this is the biggest amp the electrical system on my car can support.
You need cleaner power
That power out of the JP8 is very clean. The signal coming out of the stock radio is not the cleanest though. Any distortion you may hear is the microphone on my phone not being able to handle the high volume.
