My family was visiting New York and my dad and I were at this show. He passed in 2019, so video from this concert is always special for me to watch. It is a great performance of the song. The solo is so expressive and is a stellar lesson on building a solo, timing, touch, phrasing, and dynamics. Brilliant!!
As much as hyde park and crossroad 2004 are both incredible, I have the live in 1990 with the armani suits/lace sensor pickup as the best ever ! All subjective but if you didn’t see it you need to take a look! 90s was an awesome era for clapton
I saw him on this tour in New Orleans. Best concert ever. I had floor seats next to the FOH mixing console. I was so wound up after the show I got a ticket driving home to Mississippi.
His 60's Cream lick, check out cream's 1968 farewell tour where he used that killer lick on some songs. For example in this one ruclips.net/video/9NkaZJrbf0Y/видео.html
you're so right! Me to !, listened to millions of hours of Clapton Music and Solos, know every Lick of him, but this is clearly by far the most unique Solo of him ever ! And maybe forever my All-Time favorite Clapton Solo. Just compare the way it starts and the way it ends ! Just mindlowing!
Personal the top 3 song/solos. 1. Has not been played yet by Eric Clapton. 2. Eric Clapton, Queen of spades - three amazing solos on RUclips. 3. This one, Eric Clapton.. This song has everything you want in a song, drive from the rhythm and a awesome groove on the drums with great bass play. Solo has harmony, aggressiveness, patience and playful with responding the groove from the beat. Good Job 👍 ❤
I have been lucky enough to see him twice in my life live. They were the best concerts that I ever saw, and I have seen a LOT of concerts over the years. Graziela you are so lucky. I'm sure that it will be one of the highlights of your life until the day that you die.
at 5:18 the mindblowing Masterpiece begins ! At hate to read "best Solo ever" and I hate to write things like "best solo ever", but damn f...damn ! this to me IS the "BEST SOLO EVER" !
I love this song Eric indeed 2004 was a special year listen to the Crossroads Festival version best performance ever Nathan was dancing Eric was on fire i have the DVD blew up my surround 3 times now
Glad somebody sees that besides me. He just was on all the stars aligned musical year. His voice his playing the grit on his voice his soul speaking. Not that it doesn't now . Lucky to see him last 3 US tours. Just 2 months ago .....
I can see why this performance is a favorite to so many out there. 2004 was filled with such great performances by Eric, but then, he's been awesome in 2015 too! EC, what a gem.❤️
Can someone break down that like at 8:34? It looks like when he speeds it up he’s keeping the lock the same but double timing the right hand?? Love it!!
8:34-8:41 he is simply playing a very fast, descending scale. The few seconds after that, he is plucking a couple strings at a time and pulling off quickly down the scale. It’s a kind of false double stop. Prince did this a lot
Ya just the Gm pentatonic scale at the Bb root, fast triplets, no really precise picking pattern he’s just going real fast. Def not a blues thing haha closer to Ace Frehley.
So glad so many have noticed this. The most I’ve seen/heard him do it was on sheriff in ‘04. I’ve been trying for almost 20 years to get it right and still can’t do it
I thought crossroads solo was the best but this solo sounds more complete and and has a better build up. Feels bad to the other folks who doesn't knows this performance.
If I had a chance to have Eric in concert this would be definitely on my list and am so glad he keeps it on the set list. I would Change the World ,My Father's Eyes., Holy Mother, Old Love , Layla electric then the rest JJ and BB songs end with Blue Rainbow
It was funny seeing all the older people yelling Cocaine while he was singing it....being 22 it was pretty funny...i was smoking a blunt sitting side stage. Ahhh memories...

Best ever. I thought he was born to play this solo...
I don't remember how many times I have repeated this video...
This and the Crossroads 2004 solo are the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard in my life. Pure magic!
You should listen to Hyde Park 1996 concert too! :)
I shot the Sheriff

We owe an immense debt of gratitude to whoever captured and posted this recording. Pure magic.
ive seen clapton over a dozen times every time I do I make sure I record sheriff, for historical purposes
6:17 that dynamic transition is amazing holy f
Love his little grin at 8:45. Even he can't believe how good this is. We will never see the likes of him again.
I think 2004 was a special year for Clapton, I don't know why but I think like this. His all performances in 2004 are amazing.
Was very rejuvenated that tour. I was at this show, blown away. Was my first time seeing him, have seen him 10x since.
He is a master musician all his performance’s are great and amazing always
The crossroads version and solo in 2004, maybe his best of all time!
Yes, amazingly awesome
Awesome thanks for sharing
I saw him on this tour in New Orleans. Best concert ever. I had floor seats next to the FOH mixing console. I was so wound up after the show I got a ticket driving home to Mississippi.
8:34. I’ve listened to thousands of hours of clapton live... never heard him use this lick before. Incredible
He used it at the cream reunion 2005, Crossroads 01:40
that was fucking killer holy fucking shit
His 60's Cream lick, check out cream's 1968 farewell tour where he used that killer lick on some songs. For example in this one ruclips.net/video/9NkaZJrbf0Y/видео.html
neither omg it’s frustrating how the fuck he moved his fingers

I think that I said "God Damn" at least twice during this solo. I love this man.
Was in tears through the concert. what a feeling

Feckin ell. Thats as good as the solo on the Crossroads Concert of the same year
For me, this is not just a solo, this is the best description of what love is.
When Clapton speaks... guitars listen!
When Clapton plays...
Fantastic
I thought crossroads solo was the best but this solo sounds more complete and and has a better build up. Feels bad to the other folks who doesn't knows this performance.

Amen
If he dies before I do, what am I going to do..?
Hey Robert, I know what you mean. There is no one else like him. Some say that E.C. channels the guitar, I say that he becomes the guitar.
Did he drop his pick in the beginning?
