People are harsh on the Magic because it feels like they should have had more success. I mean the Wolves have been poorly managed for most of their history. Magic tho, they had a ton of luck: had the number 1 pick when two generational big men were available, lucked into the Raptors undervaluing Tracy. Yet each time they managed to shoot themselves in the foot: antagonizing Shaq and trying to make it seem like he wasn't worth the money, blowing the chance to land Tim Duncan, etc. They've def been the second most successful of the late 80's expansion teams but I think if they had better management/owners they'd have won a chip by now. Think that'll change soon with this new regime.

The Magic have surprised everyone with how well they’ve been playing this year. With a roster full of young high basketball IQ guys plus Banchero and Wagner being the franchise pieces, the Magic are headed in the right direction and it’s great to see a young team like that flourish.
Man they're a gritty defensive team, it's fun to watch. Issac isn't even fully up to scratch and Paulo is proving he's a monster. It's gonna be a fun couple of years

Franz Wagner is anything but a "role player." By most advanced metrics he's a top 35 player in the league, and actually more valuable than Banchero due to similar offensive production and FAR better defense.
Before all the injuries (8 players out over the last 9 games) they had the 2ed best record in the East. Not saying they'd end the season at 2ed but if they can get fully healthy teams better watch out.

He's definitely not the best player on the team, but he's very important for the energetic fun factor in the team chemistry and every now and then he puts in an all-star performance. The current Magic team will hopefully keep us happy for a few more years.

The reason why I always laugh when people criticized Jayson Tatum is because of this scenario: you have players who are essentially scores who can do a little bit of everything but you now need to sacrifice some of that defense in the future for consistency in ball handling and better offensive players

Jingles is not getting traded. One he’s the vet for this young Magic team. Second, his contract has a team option in the second year. So the ball is in their court to determine whether they will keep him or not. JI’s defense is why the Magic will keep him around. Plus with his history of injuries, his value on the trade market will not be worth much.
I love watching the Magic just ball out. They've been a joke for pretty much a decade so it's refreshing to see them play out their potential. Just from watching them play, you could see their defense holding up and their offense having potential to be sufficient (just need more reliable shooters on this end, most of the roster is good at cutting to the rim tho)

Jett Howard was never known for his defense. Defense is actually is weak point and reason why he is in the G-League. Orlando also did not draft many PGs. Cole is now 6th man and Black still a rookie, the only other PG was Elfrid Payton 10 years ago! You forgot to mention Jalen Suggs improvement from beyond the arc and guys like Bitadze, Fultz or Moe Wagner who contribute to the success!
I wouldn't call Isaac a miss or "rough". He played well at first with two-way star seemingly right ahead, until injuries derailed everything. But usually if a player shows legit production for a couple of seasons before injuries hit, they aren't called a draft "miss". He seems like he's making a legit comeback, with that two-way ability on full display. He leads the team in defensive plus/minus and blocks per minute (2nd in blocks per game). He's also second behind Wagner in PER. The team just switched his $17.4 million per year contract from partially guaranteed to fully guaranteed, so they clearly believe his recovery is legit.
As a Cavaliers fan the magic did really well this season. There were times in that series that I was completely convinced they were going to beat us. The future is definitely bright in Orlando.

Andy great video thanks for breaking down how my magic have rebuilt, I think nba teams should model themselves more after the magic thunder and pacers when it comes to rebuilding and the cavs as an honorable mention pacers won’t have long term success at that pace they play tho But the theme should letting the young guys grow with vets if you have em and if your rebuilding just keep young guys together to let them go if you can instill responsibility into them, if not just get a vet or 2
Thing is Johnathan Isaac is actually an essential part of the current team. Best defender on the team. He's just less noticed due to the injury history but he's one of the most important not named Paolo or Franz
We had two runs. The McGrady, Grant Hill era was meant to be McGrady and Tim Duncan. It actually got closer than most know, but Duncan ultimately chose to stay in another small market, but one with a championship already. He became an all time great. Grant Hill was a fallback, and his body just couldn't recover. We helped launch the 2001-2008 Pistons run though. Ben Wallace was a Magic player sent in that sign and trade for Hill. As far as this team, Wagner and Banchero look like catalysts. You can say a lot about the Magic. But we usually drill the pivk when we get Number One. Shaq, Dwight, and Paulo. Here's hoping.
A couple of points. Suggs is a turning into a very good player as well. Also, Issac was an absolute terror on defense. The only thing that kept him out of DPOY talks was his minutes restriction. He was a better overall defender than Gobert.
It's a shame that the Magic made it to the NBA Finals in the 1990s and 2000s, but never won a championship. The 1995 Rockets and 2009 Lakers were too strong.

If Jonathan Isaac was healthy, this team defense would be even better. He wasn’t a bust, just never healthy enough for long.

Andy great video thanks for breaking down how my magic have rebuilt, I think nba teams should model themselves more after the magic thunder and pacers when it comes to rebuilding and the cavs as an honorable mention pacers won’t have long term success at that pace they play tho
But the theme should letting the young guys grow with vets if you have em and if your rebuilding just keep young guys together to let them go if you can instill responsibility into them, if not just get a vet or 2

Isaac is good until Injuries happened
Thing is Johnathan Isaac is actually an essential part of the current team. Best defender on the team. He's just less noticed due to the injury history but he's one of the most important not named Paolo or Franz

Isaac isn’t a miss imo
We had two runs. The McGrady, Grant Hill era was meant to be McGrady and Tim Duncan. It actually got closer than most know, but Duncan ultimately chose to stay in another small market, but one with a championship already. He became an all time great.
Grant Hill was a fallback, and his body just couldn't recover. We helped launch the 2001-2008 Pistons run though. Ben Wallace was a Magic player sent in that sign and trade for Hill.
As far as this team, Wagner and Banchero look like catalysts. You can say a lot about the Magic. But we usually drill the pivk when we get Number One. Shaq, Dwight, and Paulo. Here's hoping.
A couple of points.
Suggs is a turning into a very good player as well. Also, Issac was an absolute terror on defense. The only thing that kept him out of DPOY talks was his minutes restriction. He was a better overall defender than Gobert.
It's a shame that the Magic made it to the NBA Finals in the 1990s and 2000s, but never won a championship.
The 1995 Rockets and 2009 Lakers were too strong.
Sleepin on Jonathan Isaac. Best defender on the team. Would be top 5 in the league with a full season.
