  • Sometimes, in order to go forward, you must first take a look at your past. Graham Nash has a rich and undoubtedly storied history behind him and he has recently released a live album titled, Graham Nash: Live which features him performing his first two albums - Songs for Beginners (1971) and Wild Tales (1973) - in their entirety. Mr. Nash will also be performing at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ on July 13th.
Nash, however, has often focused on the future and shows no signs of slowing down. While he’s excited about this new live release, he’s also recently published A Life in Focus: The Photography of Graham Nash which showcases his longtime affair with photography. And, as we learn in this interview, he’s just completed a brand new solo album which is due to be released in early 2023.
But in this chat, Graham and I talk about why he chose to revisit his first two solo albums and the experience of retracing the footsteps he made nearly a half-century ago. Of course, we also discuss the Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, making long-term musical relationships work and how you can’t really envision where you’re going, unless you know where you’ve been.

The first album I ever bought was Songs for Beginners. I have always thought how appropriate that was for a first LP. I still play it regularly! I have loved everything that Graham has produced! My favourite songwriter! Keep going Graham!

Such a great interview! Graham is such a humble guy. I would love to ask him, "Why does he perform alot of the time barefooted?", I think I know the answer, and love this!!

Nash had so many songs on C.S.N and Young albums. If you put Nash songs altogether and listen to his two albums and his work with the C.S.N. , are unreal and gives you a song and writer collection is as great as Young and Dylan . He has not been given credit and that's not including what he wrote with the Hollys.....unreal person and hero of mind . His music was part of the Hippy era.....love you Graham Nash , you should have a rock and roll hall of fame credit as a solo artist....

I hope more artists follow your example! I had always planned, when I was seeking fame and fortune, to start my concerts by doing the NEW RELEASE in order and entirely and then do the hits for the second set.

The Beginners/Tales show in ALB was unbelievable. His between-song banter was great, will miss that when i get the discs, but will hope Albany made the cut on some tracks. Never thought i'd see a live version of Another Sleep Song, arguably the best song for a rainy day..

I have so:much respect for Graham Nash and his career . I really kicked myself that I didn’t go and see him play in concert at Folkestone Leas cliff hall when he played there on his last Uk tour .
Hopefully Graham will tour UK next year to promote his new album due out next year
when hopefully he will play in Kent again
Really looking forward to the album that he teased that he recorded with his Hollies lead singer colleague Alan Clarke .
Who knows what really goes on in the background but it seems sad that his relationship with David Crosby is so broken .

Both albums were so important to me as after the gold rush from Neil Young . Nash is a great writer and was under rated , he is loved and has a great artist....

He's such an Man-génue, not necessarily a naivete but an innocent, a man without a dark side except when hurt deeply. I hope he finds forgiveness for David's A.H. side - he's always known it's there.

I've been deep diving into the Laurel canyon scene since I spent a semester as a tween in Woodland Hills just up Topanga. My permanent home in staid Illinois, the Canoga Park jr high where I walked past an orange orchard with male peacocks strutting' and in gym we were marching to THE DOORS latest album 💁🏼‍♀️‼️Looking forward to you, maybe special guests and my 1st show @ Humphrey's🤗
PS. Graham, you are a class act when ever I heard you refer to David👍🏻
