Saw my first Crosby Stills and Nash show at the Hartford Ct civic center in 1985 and I left thinking that Graham Nash was the glue that held C.S and N together

It's unfortunate but I think only a group of people of certain age would ever recognize this man in public...really sad. His contribution to music is nothing short of extraordinary.
Having reached an age when a lot of artists are downplaying old fuels and grudges, and content to play nice -- Graham Nash is full of fire and piss and vinegar and life. Completely engaged with life, and fucking awesome. "I want to fill the rest of my life with beauty and creation." Damn.

What an honest speaking gentleman is Graham Nash. A great artist and musician and beautiful harmonies.

I appreciate passion, but he isn't spitting fire here, he just comes off as a hostile, bitter, angry, cantankerous, broken man.

He saved Crosby;s ass a million times.....never seen him like this.....
That's what I always heard too... and so I always assumed he was a more mild mannered type. but he definitely isn't! Either that or this interviewer brought out his spicy side to the max!
Actually learned more about him than Crosby / bet he has deeper problems than Crosby / kind of bitter for someone who has so much / life is short / let it go..
We don't know all. Easy to say without all info. He and Crosby know though and it must have been bad
he is a mild mannered person, but comes a time when "enough is enough". He even looks angry, really angry...
He put up with a lot of Crosby's crap for years. I've read both of their books and I think Nash is just tired emotionally. I sure hope they can patch things up!
I just watched the Nash interview for Huffington Post which took place close to the timing of this interview. It's obvious Graham is in pain here.. at this time he is going through a divorce to his wife of 30+ years AND the relationship with Crosby had ended.. HUGE changes in his life.. I'm not him, but I have listened to these interviews and recognize emotional pain..
Saw him live in Seattle.. fantastic performance.. inspiring... true gentleman and authentic individual.
I love how Graham explains everything about his life and how he wants to live his life. He seems to be such a wise person! ❤🙏
He's given people a lot of joy over the years. There could be no better legacy.
You could tell from the beginning "Part 1" that Graham Nash was already in a pissed off mood. Interviewer did a kick ass job avoiding verbal confrontations while getting answers. Great interview.
I like Graham Nash and Donald Trump. I listen to both and I understand where both are coming from. Like Graham says we are all human beings.
Comparing those two should result in you going to jail. Trump is a total reprobate criminal lying shallow dirtbag grifting punk.
I actually like him more NOW that I’ve seen this interview. Very passionate, very raw and HONEST!

I think everyone can feel Graham Nash is a lovely soul
I first heard Graham with the Hollies, still have the original albums, in the mid-60's. I also listened to Buffalo Springfield back then. I always found the CSNY a strange collaboration, but one of the greatest. Life is to short to hang onto anger and resentments. I wish them well.
Brilliant interview. Brought out the "inner" Graham Nash explicitly with his comments, observations, and wisdom with brutal honesty. More please along these lines. T'hank you.

A thoughtful and considerate man. It's hardly surprising he's angry bearing in mind he's finally come to terms with the fact that he actually doesn't like the man who's been his best friend for decades; a man he's constantly encouraged to sort himself out. Everyone's patience could run out eventually. He's doing his best to be civil but when you're ahgry that takes a lot of work, even for someone as mentally tough as nash obviously is.
Love his Brutal & Heartfelt Honesty ( however ) C.S.& N. were Amazing Together. Their Songwriting & Vocal Harmonies were Phenomenal. This was Great.
This is an interviewing masterclass.

Mr. Nash, let's get a few things straight! You are no 'ordinary man!' You are gifted and supremely talented in a way that few others are. I'm a good make up artist but people all over the world are NOT going to remember me for ANY of it!!! You have given so many of us beautiful words and beautiful tunes, ones that will be treasured for all time, especially considering the drivel that comes out these days. Your music is incomparable!! As for your personal life, why should you have to apologise for any decision you make? Simple. You do not. Don't be angry, just keep writing. We love you darling man. Thank you for giving me so much musical pleasure over the years.

This is an amazing and fascinating interview. I love how honest he is, most people are not this candid. obviously completely fed up with Crosby and just got divorced so he is crispy here but it is all right from the heart . Great stuff.
The Hollies hold a very special place in my heart. There music struck a cord with me when I was in grade school and I can still can put myself back there and reminisce about those days. To me those days were the best days of my life. Thank you Graham Nash 🙏 God bless.
Graham is being truthful. We should all respect him for that. You can't judge from outside perspective. Only those involved in a relationship, creative, personal, deeply felt, know what the truth is in their life. I respect this man, his talent and skills as a musician/song-writer. 60+ years of telling truth in songs. Now 77 yrs old? Mr N., stay strong, keep creating.
I had the pleasure of working with Nash Editions some years back. Graham answered the phone often and was a pleasure to work with. He is clearly upset with Crosby. After all Nash has done to keep David alive despite his best efforts to live beyond recklessly, Crosby should be ashamed of himself. Though I doubt he has any shame left in him

I think Graham had a lot more to say about David Crosby , but was able to refrain (just in a nick of time) from really going off.
What a damn shame.....its really a saddening thing when the greatest musicians of the modern era just can't get along for so many reasons. When creative people come together, there are absolutely beautiful times, and also the darkest horrors imaginable. I'll never forget when my dad brought home the "Wasted on the Way" single with the UFO's on the cover, I fell in love with CSN and love playing their music on my guitar. My children are now all grown up and they still ask me to play "Southern Cross" and "Wooden Ships" whenever they come home to visit. I will remember CSN as they were when I was young, perfect in my eyes.
We are all beings on this wonderful spinning globe of "mud". Don't criticize someone for airing their griefs when you don't know all the facts. I praise Graham for being so honest and candid. I too believe the Universe provides and he is where he is through a long enduring passion and belief that the Universe takes care of him. A true genius and wonderful man.
I can listen to Graham talk for days.

What an amazing and thoughtful man Graham Nash is. It's obvious that he's heartbroken over his trouble with David Crosby, and it's painful to watch him talk about it. I hope things work out between them; it would obviously make Graham a much happier man--and really, doesn't he deserve to be happy, after all he's done for us during his lifetime? Thanks for posting such a brilliant interview.
I love the story Nash tells about the first time he saw these 3 guys from Liverpool at a talent show in Manchester Graham has said he didn’t know them at the time but looked at them and knew they were different. Well Mr. Nash you were right about that and most things you say and do. Your right,you are courageous!
Graham was very generous with this interviewer but he is a true gentleman . I love to hear Graham speak on any subject .

Graham’s accent and voice inflection sounds just like my father in law who passed away 10 years ago. Same fiery spirit too. My father in law was from the same town in Wales as Tom Jones. He used to say “I didn’t go to college. I have five degrees from the School of Life.”
Sometimes it's better to walk away and leave certain things behind and not talk about it any more. I can only imagine life on the road is hell for bands -I'm just happy for what CSN DID give us. Thank you for the years of music.

excellent seeing Graham here, I'd be among those who are part of the human family . ...And I'd add that WISDOM usually only comes through learning ..by making mistakes, or having the harsh storms of life in thrown in your face,. getting up off your knees over and over....bless you Graham..thank u for those memories...can here those high harmonies in my head as I type, "One morning, I woke up, and I knewww, that you were gone" A new day, A new Way !!!!

Fragile egos the lot of them - none of it matters - life and death goes on. However, this is a rather brutal interview - there should be parts 3 & 4 as the interview remains unfinished.

There is only one devil and that is the ego - the ego is responsible for all the evils in the world. Sadly so many people's ego's rule their hearts - The heart is the True Seer in all of us.
Lack of ego can make a person's life a living Hell as well...

Regarding The Ego part of humans causing all of our troubles . . . .when I get into a turmoil about or with other ppl I am miserable. I misbehave badly and later realize my EGO was the angry, over reacting shit head that made me into a roaring jerk

For a man who has so much praise put upon him, he has handled the ego part extremely well, but it still comes out at times.
There are always more than one part to a problem, his seems to be pointed very much toward David Crosby.
Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing, just giving my thoughts on his thoughts.
In my life he has always represented beauty and niceness.

This breakup was all Crosby, and in the 70's it was Neil and Crosby's drug use and egos, not Nash.
This is a man who possesses wisdom of the ages. He's been there and done that in the music industry. Keen insight and musical acumen.
I really like him now that I hear him speak, he's obviously very honest and also very done with this line of questioning.

i never was a huge fan of the man. graham was one of CSN(Y). but seeing and hearing him a few years a go in antwerp changed it all. i now adore this man and i would love to know him! thank you mr Nash for all the great music you made and gave us!!!
I feel the same way about C. Even looking at an article titled C's best songs...don't really care for any of them. About the only thing I appreciate is 8 Miles High, which he wrote a couple lines of.

Very plain spoken without hesitation...the interviewer also did a good job. I would like to know more what is behind the feud with Crosby as those chaps were great friends and Graham and Neil both saved Crosby more than once

I agree with EXERCISING THE MUSCLE in his analysis of songwriting! I've been writing songs for over 40 years and by doing it so long it is easy once you decide which is your next song! Great interview!

creativity OF ANY KIND is kept up and improved over time ONLY by actually DOING IT.
idk for certain but I THINK it has a lot to do with the constant use of the brain's synapses that are used doing any activity. After doing anything (actually) for a while, that activity almost becomes AUTOMATIC . Just like when in sports they constantly repeat certain moves and techniques AND do VISUALIZATION those moves become MUSCLE MEMORY.
Ages ago, when deciding if I could possibly be an actual writer, someone suggested two things. First, I was to say, "I'm a writer." . . .when asked WHAT DO YOU? instead of, " I want to be a writer."
And second, I was told . . . write anything EVERY DAY no matter how I felt or what was going on
because...A WRITER WRITES!!

WINK MARTINDALE. remember folks?
Much to their credit at the time the Program Directors at Top Forty radio stations let it play even though it was longer than the standard time for songs then AND it was not music. It was a SPOKEN WORD presentation. Very well done AND popular. It got up really high in the top forty playlist.
Anyway, I say all that to say this:
That line from that record that, to this day, saves my ass is:
(paraphrasing) WHETHER WE ARE AWARE OF IT OR NOT,
THE UNIVERSE IS ROLLING ALONG EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE.
Now maybe someone can please come up with the exact quote. But that's the thought that this talented, together Soul mentioned when he said,
"I KNOW THAT THE UNIVERSE LOVES ME."

I love this interview. I agree with the way Graham thinks about life, love and friendship. It's easy to see he is a great person, not only a wonderful creator of music and words. At last it's your human quality what really matters. Congratulations, buddy.

Much more anger and harshness than I expected, from someone who has always represented softness and gentleness in my life.
I always suspected Crosby was a bitter and angry man, so no surprise there.

I am stunned & truly saddened at the seething bitterness displayed by Graham toward David in a this interview.
In my short life I've discovered that it's usually the person who knows he's wrong in selfish unforgiveness whom carries around a boiling crockpot of bitterness.
They are so mutually beloved as Brothers, I hope they put this childish rift between them to death and rekindle their life-long friendship.

I agree Lee. David did all he could to apologize for anything he's done and I respect that. This bitterness in Graham ...nope can't respect that.
You read too much rolling stone. Crosby always grovels when he puts himself at his lowest. Always the victim, never at fault.
You can't bust someone for reaching their limit. Why should he be made to go back.
David Crosby has rep of an egotistical jackass whose only true love is of himself. He wouldn't be alive except for Mr. Nash but sees himself the hero and victim in all situations. Sounds like Nash has finally washed his hands...
He has worked closely with a drug addict for probably longer than you have been alive. This guy has a reputation for being a kind and gentle soul; as much as I love David’s music and appreciate individuals’ struggles, what we ARE seeing is like a very painful divorce. On one side is someone consistently causing pain with a reputation of not being nice…and on the other, the kind soul that puts up with it all for decades, and is raw here, now that a clean break has been made. I give him credit for the decades he suffered, being patient, with empathy, forgiving yet again.
When a very nice person has exercised this level of forebearance for decades, and is finally able to voice any of the hell that has impacted decades of his life, give that kind man who has the right to finally be raw, a break. Even forgiving People do not “get over” 40+ years of abuse overnight. Context is everything. This is what the anger phase of grief looks like. Because you have to really care to put up with an addict for decades. It ain’t all about business. They were probably like brothers.

Never cared for his politics...but I respect his passion and his music. Honest interview !! Love it !!
He seems irritated, very much in a "fed-up" state of mind, but it's not with the interviewer...I think you can just really see that he's reached that point with things in his life at the moment.
The "fed-up" seems for a very large part, Crosby centric.

50 years on and he says he still doesn't want to talk about what Crosby did ... that's pent up anger that he hasn't found a way to release.
He’s to kind to walk out of the interview. He would like to have some positive conversation but the interviewer insists on trying to dig up dirt.
I saw Graham Nash last night backed up by Shane Fontayne. It was an awesome concert. Nash was terrific, and Fontayne made the concert - a fabulous guitarist.
I've seen CSN, and CN. This was the best concert of the three by far.
