Graham is one of the most intelligent artists around , and has one of the biggest hearts to ever beat...
pffft.
I'm not even a particular fan but am impressed by the man as a human being.
I have serious respect for how directly and unequivocally Nash answers each question. He really carries himself with dignity, sincerity and class in this interview.
I saw this video early in the morning when a terrible thunderstorm clattered outside my home in North Carolina. It was tremendously invigorating for me to hear Graham talk about the Love Movement of the 1960's and 1970's. I too am an old hippie and cherish the days when following that path was a natural response to the mad, violent world around me. Graham is absolutely correct that ALL change happens within ourselves first, and if we have the courage to follow our heart and treat each man as our brother then the world has a chance to elevate our lives into extraordinary places. What an awesome way to start my day. Thank you Graham.
Of the four, Graham is now my favorite. He saved Crosby's ass over and over. Crosby talks good shit but he's a fucking drag as a person. Thank you, Graham, for being who you are and for the music you have made for the past 50 years.
Fabulous interview .... Nash being brutally honest and open. Love it!
we love you Graham Nash, your music, your songs, your voice. wishing you the best going forward.
Unlike so many geniuses, Nash is also mindful of his personal journey and enlightenment. He knows who he is and is at peace with himself. Despite being an inspiration, source of relaxation, an astute observer of life and a cultural icon, he knows that "success" really comes from the inner self.
He strikes me just the opposite. Not enlightened at all
Hats off to Graham Nash! A giant of rock and roll! He is open and honest and not afraid to state his ideas and beliefs. I'm so glad I chanced to come across this interview.
Such an honest chat. A legend in his own time.
Go Willie Go! Only someone with a heart as big as yours could be open to love and re-inventing yourself...you are nearing the end of the Hero's journey and carrying the banner high. What an unforgettable legacy you leave in your wake. Love, love, love the new you!!
It is heartbreaking to see Graham so upset about probably his best buddy he’s done so much for, and I love the artist David Crosby, but I am sure he is a very difficult individual. Graham you do touch people’s heart with your songs you stand up by yourself, your songs stay in our heads forever!
Sucks to be you if those songs are in your head forever!
One of the greats!
He looks good at 74, combative and assertive, don't-piss-me-off attitude.
Reading the comments here I see people don't understand what they're seeing in this interview, which is a fairly famous guy who ISN'T bullshitting. It's called the TRUTH. He's just being *frank*. People no longer know how to deal with frank conversation in public because they're all so use to plastic celebrities giving those shit-eating grins and blabbing empty happy talk.
You got that right.... It seems that he's a real stoic. He's finding happiness with himself, and is not afraid to speak earnestly about the things he knows are right and true to him and his values. I really paid attention to what he was saying here, although I don't know much about the guy.
political correct politeness, in other words bul-sh-t, conspicuously absent in this interview. strangely refreshing. Thank You Big G.
I too was listening to Luxembourg and got a chance to hear the types of music that touched my soul.it is easy to believe that when a"star"talks he or she sould pander to us.He is a normal man with gift.
L
DISCOGOTHTHEJAZZFAN I LOVE this guy! So refreshing and honest. Even though I don’t agree with him on everything, he is genuine. Why have we let society get to the point that being honest and genuine is refreshing?
mlovmo Plus the guy interviewing Graham is an idiot and apparently didn't do his homework before doing the interview. So of course Graham is a little annoyed at times in the interview.
Not only did the music you made touch the hearts of your audience , it is a part of who we are .
For me, personally, the two songs that have had the most impact on me, and that Graham Nash was involved with ,was Bus Stop when he was with The Hollies, and On The Line which he wrote himself.
CSN&Y have all individually, and collectively touched my soul. I Love the music, and the message. Hurts to hear Crosby isn't the character he projects to us. I Love you guys, and your lyrics. Genuinely makes me cry from elation, connection, and beauty.
Graham Nash is and has been one of the best musicians, writers this world of Rock & Roll has given us. .... Even before CSN, he was brilliant in the Hollies and did his best work there!
It's said that if you remember Woodstock, you weren't there....it's true..missed it by 75 miles and a prior engagement. Two years later +/-, Kent State and I was attending U C (Cincinnati)...schools closed early, my friend and I wafted off to Seattle with a kilo of good stuff...eventually to attend the most prolific concert I've even gone to...Graham, thank you and all for causing me to make my personal, self-gratifying life pursuits to take a second chair to social protests and becoming a political activist. Sitting in the upper section of a packed house auditoriium and listening to OHIO. with tears streaming down my face..my world changed...thank-you again fo being an agent of that change....and all this time now from then, I'm still a Rocker In The Almost Free World..because I experienced the 60's and am living today tying to explain it to the "millenials" as difficult as it is to do. Peace brother.
Graham, you're in great shape buddy. I've always loved your voice - all the way back to the Hollies when I was a kid.
Great interview and very good thought provoking questions. You can tell Graham’s energy begins to build as the interviewer probs deeper into each question without getting intimidated. You can also tell the guy did his homework before as well, which many fail to do.
Graham, you HAVE touched my heart with your music both as an individual artist and as part of CSN, CSNY, Hollies, Nicolette Larson etc .... Thank you !!
Graham showing how anger mixed with emotional honesty, intelligence and creativity make such a great combo - Boom!
Bill Hicks and John Lennon used those same qualities to great effect too.
they touched my heart. I ve been playing for 48 yrs
Graham Nash is amazing - always has been - always will be.
Bless You Graham, for who you are, for all you've shared with us, and your kind music... now Don't stop Loving nature, may your light fill this world.
Cheers for this awesome interview! Graham Nash has been a real presence in my life since the days of 8-Track tape. I like this assertive side of him. Watch me at 74 years of age!!! I'll be swinging my cane and taking no shit!!
Hi Peter, thank you for the compliment!
Graham seems like he's in a great mood in this interview.
Lol!!! He's a fucking ass.
lol!
Seriously Graham.. you THINK you touched peoples hearts? You took my heart out of my body and got it beating again.. as well as your melodies are soul capturing.. and even your story telling is magical.... One of my favorite stories outside the lyrics of a song.. was that of how "Our House" and your fairytale relationship with Jonie.. I say fairytale because that's how I as a fan viewed it.
fantastic stuff - exciting to hear and see this interview.
The Hollies were brilliant.
And such handsome gents, as well, thanks to Graham.
Great interview. Thanks for sharing.
Nash is all about The MUSIC!
Great interviewer. Every time I thought of the next question I would ask, he asks a better one.
I think down deep, Nash is a decent guy. You can tell in this interview, he has a lot of bitterness in his heart by, his irritated demeanor. Also, twisting some of the things Trump said, tells me he likes to dwell on the negative. I hope things go well for him in the future.
Great interview - Great questions. Love GN - he was born the same year as my Dad (and lived in the same place - Salford) & I took my Dad to see him at The Lowry (Salford) on 29th July 2018 ( my Dads birthday) - all I have to say is: Carry On :-)
You know, when I watch this video, it makes me sad to see a group of guys fall out the way it did. I completely understand why, and don't blame Stills and Nash, but it's just sad.
You're right, it is very sad. Especially now, some six years after you left your comment, David Crosby has passed away.
I like him he is very bold and true to himself and seems to have a fearless " this is what i feel and believe and i don't care what anybody thinks" that most people only get when they are getting older and realize you better do what you want and say what you think because it lasts not long and soon you will be gone. I learn important things from his interviews if I open my ears and mind and listen but I don't bow down before him like he is always right, I can agree with him sometimes and disagree sometimes. Hi Graham thanks for the music don't you die on us you older musicians are dropping like flies these days, every time I turn on the radio they say another one of you guys has bit the dust.
For anyone that grew up in that era, (or not) his autobiography is a must read ~!~
I love Graham and have since the moment we met...he is a Prince among men. Bless you always my friend!
Very interesting!!! The interview in some parts seems to be teetering into what I perceive as an abrupt end! Somehow, the interviewer manages to ask the right questions or say the right words! By the time the interviewer inquired about the meaning or reason behind the new song(s), Mr. Nash is more than happy to explain and expand without encouragement! ☮️🖖🏽
Graham tells it like it is!!! You go Graham...We Love You...
NASH! YOU all have DEFINITELY touched our hearts!!!! I love the CROSB, but I could clearly see how he was troubled by demons. BUT THANK YOU! LOve you guys!
Not only a brillant musician also a very gentile man, one of the best at all
He _is_ a Christian ... but ...
Gentle? Sure ... he's filled with anger.
Actually, I was making a joke ... the person who wrote that ... whoever it was ... I can't see the previous comments now ... spelled it "gentile" instead of gentle.
Regarding Stephen Stills ... one might not like his work ... I can't stand Young except for one song ... but I grant both men's talent. It's a matter of taste.
It's especially humorous to read people who try to drag down musicians who've been popular and sold records for decades. The only real measure of success is records sold ... all else is cheap talk.
Love this guy.Always have.
Thank you, Mr, Nash, for speaking the truth👍
Graham seems a little tense here.
Yeah his boomer rage is showing.
Graham, thank you for being you. You gave me some of earliest and best music of my life and to know that your still speaking your opinion, which I totally agree with, is awesome. I am sad that you will never get back with the guys but just know you are not just a song writer and musician and singer, you are part of my history and I am very proud of that. We made it through Johnson, Nixon, Carter,Reagan, Bush, and I thank you for your part in making that all easier to take with the music you have made. I hope you can make some to get us through Trump (just in case).
You forgot Clinton (Waco Texas, Janet Reno, Erosion of Civil Liberties) and Obama (a black-version of NeoCon War-monger G.W.Bush);BOTH WAR-MONGERERS.....Phil Ochs is turning in his grave....How much is Hillary paying you John?
Feel better after that gas?
Amazing talent. Grew up on his music and still enjoy it to this day. In the interview, Graham told where he has traveled the world 3-times in the past two years. Then he poked anger toward President Trump stating that he is "dangerous" but didn't factually explain how so. I was hoping for him to explain with facts, not feelings, how is he so dangerous and if he perhaps has found any other places on the planet that rival or surpass the United States? I'm not trying to poke fun here, just really would like to know how the U.S. is so horrible under this President and where on earth is life abundantly better elsewhere. Certainly he would know.
Graham has always been a leftist, I'm certainly not. However, that's him, and that's ok. His music has been amazing since 1963 and I've loved it all. I wish I could ask him, after being political for 50 yrs and seeing the left fail at everything during that time... but "watch out for this new right-wing guy!!!"... isn't being a leftist really just a way to feel good about YOURSELF? "I'm compassionate, I care!"... even though the situation in America is much worse?
He looks really good for 74.
I can relate to not being able to write(and ı used to write and paint etc)...cos one has nothing to say...I left my partner because of it. emotional indifference is worse than hate. Its so nice though , that he has the Lancastrian values still.we are a very honest and open people....and I still believe that the hippie philosophy is still good too!.THANKYOU for saying about El Trumpo!
One of the greatest.
A bit ironic that a man that has been a part of the pop/rock circuits all his life
can say something like : "Donald Trump is a very dangerous man" !
Trump never hurt America the way Joe Biden has. 2 years of biden has crippled America.
Funny, I have never heard anything racist from Donald Trump’s mouth, only people calling him racist.
Excellent interview. Very well done! Love me some GN.
It's easy for me Graham, in my opinion "Military Madness" is the song you touched my heart with!
All you need is, STILL, love.
I will never, ever get sick of Songs For Beginners.
I have the utmost respect for Graham Nash.
Graham Nash, just a brilliant lad from the North of England who by the nature of his birthplace always tells it as it is.
Graham Nash has made some of the best music ever.
altho he is a bit of a knobhead.
he's a total "knobhead" and by far the least talented member of CSNY
you are dumb and dumber
100% agree - he is not even gifted songwriter... boring music and simple stories.... good voice for The Hollies thou'. PS. We all know that D J Trump will win. Thanks God for it! Europe sinks already...
Songs For Beginners...great stuff.
And now that Trump is out and Biden is in, how does he feel now ? 🤔
Graham is a man with clear mind 😇
Love this guy.
Graham looks so highly bothered and angry because his recently broke up with Crosby. It's awful and sad. But I respect much Graham's value as a person and as an artist, and i think he have the perfect right to keep on angry.
So much pent-up anger here. The interviewer did brilliantly to stay patient and calm in the face of this onslaught of attitude.
Gran entrevista. Good man. Siempre me gustó. Para mi, su album en solitario " wild tales ", uno de los mejores en la historia del rock.
Brilliant! I agree 100% with your thoughts.
Graham, you are a very bright man, and I can see you are in pain, and I can relate, and as of late, I also share some of your fears, as even the educated (and of course wealthy, which is very scary) are finding some comfort in the unquestionable, unbelievable, and unthinkable..... you mention not thinking of the past, but alas history does repeat, al la 1937-46..... yikes
Yes Graham is ordinary, EXTRAordinday. A lovely, smart man who cares and has lived an amazing life.
The "First Gentleman of Rock n Roll".
Great interview.
Good work by the interviewer. Nash's foul mood bothered me, but the interviewer's intelligent, respectful questions kept me watching. Well done.
Hi Michael thanks for the compliment!
I don't think he was in a foul mood..he was just passionate about his truth..his answers were really insightful and quite inspiring.
I agree. Excellent interviewer.
I agree, Michael. I didn't realize Graham was so edgy. As a musician myself, I can't imagine Nash being very easy to get along with or work with, musically. It always sucks when you're surrounded with talented people you'd really like to jam with, but their personality is so abrasive you know down deep that it will never happen. CS&N all seem to be highly opinionated people, individually. And I can't for the life of me understand how they were able to record so much excellent music over the years, never mind tour together. I know I couldn't do it...
He is just a normal man that has nobody left to impress with his work. He has no incentive to make a fake attitude.
A rather prickly individual, rather aggressive in some aspects.
I hate foreign entertainers commenting on what is happening in the U.S. when there are so many problems in the Socialist countries they come from.. When there is a problem, folks should look in concentric circles around themselves.
Graham Nash is a talented musician but is no gentleman. Just look into the circumstances of how he left the Hollies. Basically jumped ship with no notice. That the Holies had hit records after he left including their only #1 hit, and still welcomed him on stage at their hall of fame induction in 2010 speaks volumes about them. I don’t lecture graham nash about music, and I don’t need him to lecture me about politics
8:43 ...oh, here we go again. I'll see you around.
I agree. he's blind
Buddy Holly was McCartney before McCartney. If he'd lived he would have been a real superstar. Being from Lubbock, he would have also made my accent much cooler to have. Now THAT is a pity. I could've used all the social help I could get.
Buddy Holly was great but Little Richard was McCartney before McCartney.
Fun interview. Thank you Face Culture. Keep the vulture alive.
Friend of mine's sister was the stewardess with a private jet service and she went out on the road with Crosby, stills, and Nash. I think it was early to mid 70s. Each one of the guys traveled with their own individual therapist and none of the boys were speaking to one another but rather telling the therapist who sat next to them things like, "hey you can tell Crosby's doctor xyz, etc. caused David didn't want grams doctor just speak to him directly so the doctors were speaking to each other and then they would you relay whatever to their individual clients. What fame does to peoples egos is truly frightening. A friend of mine in the business once told me, "you know, when you reach that point in your career when absolutely no one will contradict you, or disagree with you, or simply say no, that's when you find out who you really are. Because being surrounded by people always saying yes, yes, yes creates something like a vacuum, or perhaps an empty space is a better description. That into that empty space comes rushing you're ever increasing, flesh eating, blood drinking ego. It's what George Harrison was talking about in the beautiful song he wrote for Let It Be called I Me Mine. As far as Graham Neil Steven and David are concerned, it's a fucking miracle then any of them are even alive, and the fact that the can still up for it on a decent show most of the time is nothing short of a miracle. I saw him in New York City in 2013, and you know, they still had it.
Wow, this is an honest interview. No bullshit just pure honesty and a lot of anger from a guy who is usually extremely nice and a wonderful human being.
Very good interview.
Good man.
8:55 Oh brother here we go again. Do you musicians ever think that the world MAY BE A BIT MORE NUANCED than "Kumbaya No matter what"? TDS is as ubiquitous as CNN!!
Brilliant interview with prescient comments.
What an interesting bloke. His music certainly touched me
Very truthful interview on both sides - love it. REAL stuff for a change. Wish I had watched this a year ago. We need to go back to truthful talk instead of all the passive aggressive politically correct BS today. Truth will set you free.
Awww, Nash-you had me until "Donald Trump" and the Right!
Well beyond loving oneself and being to true to yourself, it's really scary knowing you're doing the best you can to love yourself, the planet and all those who cross your path when there's a Trump at the helm. I mean seriously! Where did all these soulless people who are following him around blindly come from???? We don't need anymore horror movies when we've got one of our own! Man, I'm sorry CS&N are breaking up. Those guys could still do something about it, reaching people with their gorgeous voices. Let's hope the younger up and coming musicians and writers have enough wisdom to make an impact.
Graham seems very angry here, sad.....
He seems flat, just as he states... for me that is sad
+Joao Toigo Are you referring to his demeanor? Yeah a bit defensive and what the hell is going on with Crosby? The soap opera continues. What's also sad is I know he's like 74 but his voice has really fallen flat lately. The RRHOF in 1997 when they sang Teach Your Children it sounded great but now really all three of them sound awful. Father time catches up, that is unless your Paul McCartney....
Haven't heard anything by The Rascals lately but heard they had a reunion....
Paul McCartney is not exempt. He sounds pretty bad now.
satchfan2010 Aside from that we share the admiration of Joe. Love the G3 stuff but I can't decide whether or not I like Chickenfoot....
His melodies have always been great. His politics has always sucked.
I'll say.
His is right Trump is dangerous. He would be dangerous if he was left or right wing. He is a populist demagogue with no conscience and no truth.
Well let me see...he was against the Viet Nam War...right there....he was against Nixon and his lies...Right There...Right about Bush and the false Weapons of Mass Destruction...hmmm
And so Totally Right about this psychopath, Trump. I'm gonna go out and buy some more songs by this man.
And he loved JONI MITCHELL! I like this guy!
Thanks Graham...all we need is love. -A hippie
What a great guy!
i enjoy his song Butterfly these days...really beautiful psych music
Young and Stills accounted for half the quartet in CSNY and 93% of the talent. Crosby had about 5%, and Graham had about 2%. He should be thanking his lucky stars he met Steven Stills and Neil Young. Although I do agree with him politically.
“I have nothing to say for the last ten years…” . Lol Please… I find it Hard to believe that Graham Nash had nothing to say ever! He’s always talking. I imagine people walking on eggshells around him. Just sayin’.
He looks great
love this guy....he has no pretense....
5:12 You can hear the anger in his voice. He is a very angry man in this interview.
satchfan2010---If you had seen his many interviews prior to this, you will understand he is a bit irritated by being asked the same questions every time. The interviewer did NOT do his homework...and insulted him by saying he "had not done anything" for the last ten years. Mr. Nash is also an accomplished photographer, business owner, sailor, music producer, and father to three. He married that lady he mentions in this interview in Spring of 2019. Many congrats and wishing them much happiness.
@@brokenlibrary2591 blah blah who cares nobody knows him anymore except the elderly and he's non-productive musically for decades and decades
I really wish Graham never did this interview because you can tell he wasn’t really in a good headspace. He was trying to be a polite guy that he is but he was still mad about David Crosby criticizing Neil’s girlfriend and Nash on his autobiography
