I must admit i was caught with the iridescent node.... I tried it a few years ago ended up making a huge and complex node. And here we are with a simple iridescent node. Big ups 👆 👍
Thank you so much! I explored more complex iridescent nodes previously ruclips.net/video/SnUWiPEINps/видео.html but sometimes there are shortcut, possibly not physically accurate, but accurate enough for illustration purposes. Also optimisation it's very important for real time (EEVEE) or just to reduce some time in Cycles, will publish a video talking about these topics soon!
Pretty close to the real thing :-) One suggested improvement, the recorded and non-recorded areas of partially recorded CD-Rs etc. do look slightly different.
Yep you are right, there are a few ways of doing it, radial cut loop in the geometry and assign a slightly different material, maybe changing the fresnel IOR, or in the same shader adding an additional radial gradient -> mix shader fac, and the different material can be assigned directly there. Problem I honestly have is that bigger node maps on my old machine slow everything so much that I can barely navigate the UI, screen recording is basically impossible. So I am now focusing on optimised light weight nodes! Probably the face count on old system would be a better option! Thanks a lot for the comment Ralf :)

Exactly what I was looking for! The audio wasn't even on (because of an issue on my side) but I was able to follow this no problem
So glad it helped 🙏🏻
Clean and simple. Great job Daniel.
Thanks a lot Giom!
Can You release the Project File?

Very cool, thank you a lot!
Thanks Leonardo :)
sorry to bother, i wanted to know how do you dp the "inner part"?
Hello! A pleasure to help if I can! What do you mean by inner part?
Daniel Oakfield i’m talking about the “plate” at the center of the cd :)
At 2:35 you can see the black plastic material, it's nothing special really!!!
Can you realse a template for us to play with?
What do you mean for template? Do you want the project file?
@@DanielOakfield Hey Daniel :) Do you have the project file per chance? Would be so helpful!
Of course I do, I made it. Isn’t the tutorial clear enough?
video not clear.
What do you mean?
