Very good tutorial! I always go by ear and sometimes the bass just doesn't work with the sample, so when all else fails I just copy the melody and do a low pass filter, making that the bassline.
I just watched your video for the 1st time and you saying that "you're alive" resonated with me in a MAJOR WAY!!! I'm going through a battle with cancer and for that moment of you saying what you said, made my day bro. Thank you for that and for all that you do on your channel. Dope content as usual, I've yet to crack open my new MPC live II, but once I do, I'll have your tutorials to guide me. I just gotta wrap up some old beats from my MPC 2500 and Studio Black and move them over to the live and start working again. Once again, thank you brother! Keep rockin'. Peace!!
Dude the way you teach and explain things is awesome.. I’ve been doing this quite a long time but the new functions & updates force me to keep up with the jones.. You actually taught me a new way of doing things.. I appreciate you for that. You definitely have a new subscriber 💯💪🏾
Thank you very much. This is the BEST set of options (I have seen yet) in regards to matching bass to samples (using the MPC software system). This helps me a lot when using samples I made a long time ago and didn't properly label them but especially helpful when using samples from really old music (the 60's and 70's) where things change a lot in the songs.
Great tutorial, Malo! I’m new to the MPC world and creating basslines for my tracks was a huge worry. But this video provides an easy-to-understand and comprehensive way of going about it, and I appreciate that. Thanks so much, man! 🙌🏾
I would say it would have been better id you used a sample that has a wrong detection key from MPC. Then find/look for they key or go by the ear plus adding the bass.
Great video...ive done this through main screen on track plugin icon then change tubesynth to baseline under baseline you can change the presets without going into sounds....also in sample edit I just go to the right arrow icon to the right side screen and shows another section with 3 gray bars to detect bpm the other bpm(to change) could be another time stretch 3rd bar is to detect key to detect which key its in...then I press shift then notes to change the key to it on mpc one
Man, if I end up buying an MPC ONE soon it'll be your fault. :) You may just be the first person to convince me to finally switch. You make it look like so much fun and easy.
Thanks! This is exactly what I needed today. I love adding effects to my samples, but sometimes a phase or wah effect (for example) will sound really cool but will leave the track sounding washed out and thin. This is the answer!!
Usually I go with the Natural Minor instead of the Harmonic Minor. There's only one note difference (harmonic minor has the 7th note up a semitone I think) but the harmonic minor ends up sounding funky in a weird way most of the time.
I like that you do things by ear. I am not a musician and I like trying to make beats. I do it for fun not profit. I don't have your skill at it. It gives me hope that I can get better at it. i feel like i don't know music theory I can't make beats. thanks for the inspiration. Great video.
I don't use bass to often, unless I get tricky with the Lo Pass lol! I'm actually gonna use this technique and try it out tho, appreciate you brother!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Akai just dropped Model D plug in which I think is better than the bassline synth that comes with it, imo. I just got moog werkstatt looking to have some fun with it after I seen your tutorial about keygroups. It's a challenge dealing with audio tracks in track mix but practice, and also the looper I will look into for my roland j-6 as far as recording audio. That sample hard 💪💯
Malo bro This single video may have helped change my beat making more than the past 20 videos combined. Im not a trained musician and figuring out the key for my sample has been extremely hard. Thanks
Dopest video 📹 I ever 👀 seen to date on this subject yo! 🔥💣🔥💣🔥💎⛏️🎧😎. I'm putting this 😤 in my favorites. I had a Mpc One also in the past at the time I sold it stuck on my Mpc2000xl. I got some vst software that is fire 🔥.
wow malo!! that beat its dope and ones again exellent video. thats waht im looking for haw to match my baseline with the sample btw whats the name of the sample
Thank you so much also for this great video of how to get the bassline perfect, seeing you work makes me feel inspired to get down to work also 😅 not in a 'i can do it better kind of way' but more like the 'i wanna create what i love also now' kind of way when i'm heading home :) What headphones do you recommend for better quality? Is there any way you can be listening to your project with a wireless headset on the mpc one? Keep grinding man Thanks for teaching us to get better in this Love your videos! ❤️✌️
You’re one of my fav MPC tutorial providers. Thank you again for this! So if we want to use just one bass note sample (like in your older video) we can’t throw that sample in pad perform? In other words, pad perform is only for vst’s?
I have a hard time with base as well I’m going to try this and I hope it works I’ll let you know thank you for the info.🙏🏽 Oh I have an MPC live2 retro with the latest operating system so I trust it’ll work the same. I’m using it standalone without the computer would that be a problem?
I usually put a low pass filter on the sample and use that as my bass
thanks for the tip 👀
Dang, cool tip
Does that really work and sound decent? I always thought about it but didn’t think it would work. Interesting
Very good tutorial! I always go by ear and sometimes the bass just doesn't work with the sample, so when all else fails I just copy the melody and do a low pass filter, making that the bassline.
So basically you double the sample and on the duplicate you eq out the highs and only keep the lows of that sample?

The attitude of gratitude goes a long way. Thank YOU for sharing your gifts!
that drive bassline actually sounded good to me on that beat in my opinion
🔥That’s a dope tip. Thanks!🔥
"one you love" I like it a lot, serious beat

Very positive message at the end Bro 💯💯💯
Thank you so much.
GREAT Explanation !, perhaps the natural minor may provide a better experience.
Family you a blessing bro🤲🏽👊🏽 thanks for this video I’m on the same boat when it comes to baselines lol
thank you. 🍀🍁
Love that you always lean on the SM7B just like I do. It just sound so natural on voices
Always enjoy your conversational style and laidback approach, and appreciate the positive message!
Thank you sir!! God bless you and yours!💯❤
Thanks Malo, appreciate you taking the time to make this video brother.
I’m glad I’m here to brother! and I’m glad you seem in a good mind-state. You really helped my bass game today 🙏.

Amazing vid, Thank you for your hard work and editing powers for making this just a smooth flowing video.

Good tips, thanks🙌
Much appreciation for the lesson and the gracious words too, this was a great help to me, keep going!
This is super cool. I was playing with some samples a few days ago, and adding a bass was horrible. Now I know why, and how to fix it. Super Thanks!
So dope!! Thanks for the tutorial this helped a lot!
Man, if I end up buying an MPC ONE soon it'll be your fault. :) You may just be the first person to convince me to finally switch. You make it look like so much fun and easy.
Sub synth plugin to use is Sine and place the bank pads on C. That will give you the bass tones of what Dilla and Nottz use.
dope video!

Really enjoy your videos 👍🏼 picking up some good MPC tips
I have a new mpc one and I am still exploring. This tutorial is the best I’ve seen so far !
💯💯🔥🚀🚀
So glad you made this video!!!!! I have some homework to do now! Lol 😂
Great video as usual Malo! Bass lines are always my challenge.
Appreciate the Tips ! Track was fire too! 🔥
Might be the most useful video for my needs that I've seen so far.. Thank you
Thank you for this hint homie
But let’s talk about how dope that beat was
Usually I go with the Natural Minor instead of the Harmonic Minor. There's only one note difference (harmonic minor has the 7th note up a semitone I think) but the harmonic minor ends up sounding funky in a weird way most of the time.
Thank you soo much for this

This is hardest part of boom bap production. I learned alot from Kev Brown king of bass lines. Bass is really hard to get right and groovy over sample
🫡 I rarely use bass for simple fact I’m not a bass player 😔 if I do use a bass plugin I use the sub bass I can’t mess that up 😂
I'm the same bro lol! I'm trying to learn, but I rarely use it🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Blessings to you bro, great tutorial 👊🏽
Peace and blessings Sam, I grabbed Poetic Crates, and it's awesome brother 🙏🏾✊🏾💚
@@lindasson thank you brother, I truly appreciate it & glad you enjoy it 🙏🏽
malo this was actually one of my first beats ever same flip but i piched it up dope to see
Great tutorial!
Thanks!!! I had everything else, but I couldn't figure out the baselines! Btw.... that sample is 🔥🔥🔥
Same with me, I’m like man I need some warmth & bass so it don’t sound flat after taking the bass out the sample. 💯 This vid came thru🔥
That's a very nice tip! The beat is off the charts! 🔥🔥🔥
great tutorial love the channel. thank you
What’s telegram I’m slow 😂

thanks Malo, for your energ, time and efford you put in to this videos
That’s what I’m looking for!! Thanks bro🎉
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing the knowledge my brother
This means a lot thank you so much for taking the time.
Very good tutorial. Big help
💯🔥🔥👍
Mind Blown! Hell yeah
Dope AF man thank you!
Excellent video learned enough to get started thanks a million
Great video. Thank you and keep the positive vibes going. :)
I don't use bass to often, unless I get tricky with the Lo Pass lol! I'm actually gonna use this technique and try it out tho, appreciate you brother!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
If you play the bass sample from the Keygroups, you can always change it from sample assign once you have recorded your Midi notes.
great job
Love the channel bro
This is gold for thanks 🙏🏾
Again, very good tutorial :) Thanks a lot and yes you are right we should be thankful to be alive :)
youre beats go hard my g respect
Great videos, a hug from Spain.
That beat is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bruh that beat is fucking fire god damn
But there is also a other trick that we csn do is by playing the bass notes in high notes to clearly see if its in key or not
Thanks, the fine tuning trick I am gonna try out.
You are great man❤
Thank you brotha

That sample hard 💪💯
Model D is neat indeed. Key advantage vs keygroup is loading speed (and project save speed in standalone mode....)
Sometimes MPC doesn't correctly detect key. Often sample name tells you what key it is in if the sample was downloaded say from Splice...
12:03 needed to hear that :)
Malo bro This single video may have helped change my beat making more than the past 20 videos combined. Im not a trained musician and figuring out the key for my sample has been extremely hard. Thanks
Nice tip. Will give it a try 👍
@DJ Cuda we were working on this jus today lol

Fire 🔥!!! Thanks for this one!!!
Thank u for this video
Hella vid! Would be cool see a follow up automating synth settings ➕
When I first start making beats I didn't even add bass. Once I learned I still have trouble finding a sub tuned the way I like.
Sometimes I just filter it out.
wow malo!! that beat its dope and ones again exellent video. thats waht im looking for haw to match my baseline with the sample btw whats the name of the sample
🔑BASS🔑
I had to come back to this vid, cause I always get stuck on bass when sampling 😵💫
Thanks for the info bro
