I don't produce beats that often anymore, but these videos are tempting me to start again. If I was to recommend a video suggestion, a video explaining a bit of music theory for beatmakers would be cool, like it's one thing to play with a beat till it sounds good but to understand what makes a beat good and things to avoid is golden
Thanks for watching man! What's keeping you from giving beatmaking a try? I would say that you don't need to know music theory to make good music really. I barely know any and I've been fortunate enough to have artists use my music as well as get my music into video games. I wouldn't let music theory (or lack of knowing any) be a deterrent
@@NavieD Uni work is stopping me, I'm almost finishing my course tho so when I secure a job and my free time isn't fussed with homework and job searching, I'll fill relieved to give beat making a try again. Especially with all the videos you put out lately
@@NavieD Technically it's not actually a uni I just say that so people understand easily, it's a private college and I'm studying 3D art and animation, basically making 3D art for video games
@@NavieD I don't think so I like leaving it to you to fill in the gaps other creators haven't touched on as much. I'm new to this and most interested in sampling - having trouble getting multiple samples to play well together (in key, tempo - if there's a rock to trip on, I've tripped on it). So sampling is what I'm most interested in, but I could learn something from any lesson at this point.
@@NavieD On second thought: it'd be cool if you published little exercises on your website, like "if you want to get better at x, try practicing this...". There's plenty of info out there, but I don't come by many practical lessons short of "go and do it", which is fine but it would be nice to have more focused practice sessions to improve skills.
@@billmcbride6216 Awesome man, I am happy to see someone else interested in sampling. I am a sample-based producer mainly so it's nice to see others share the same love for it. That's a really interesting idea, treating it almost like an actual curriculum. I was thinking of building an actual online course a bit down the road for that exact thing where I would make a beat maybe, and give people all of the same sounds and show them step by step how to do what I do and have them follow along... do you feel like that would be something you'd wanna see?
how are you making the bass sample play indefinitely with the key held down? I understand how you are making it stop when releasing the key but i will play my sample and it only plays for the length of the chop
Super helpful video, just wondering why you used a dip on band 4/7 in your Parametric EQ2 which left some headroom for higher frequencies at 2:30 instead of a hard cutoff for band 7 and dragging to around 160 Hz. Wouldn't a hard cutoff in PEQ2 remove all necessity for the hard cutoff you did in FabFilter?
Yeah, I am somewhat trepidatious whenever it comes to doing hard cutoffs. My mixes used to suffer at times from cutting too many frequencies from sounds due to hard cuts, that's just a personal thing. You're right though, a hard cutoff would achieve exactly what you said.
After finding out the note and tuned the pitch to C from F with -500 cents . My bass keeps playing C. Even if I'm on D7 octave it never changes tone repeats C. Hope to hear from you soon

Big Vic, thank you man! Really kind words
Dude thank you! that was exactly what I was looking for 👍🏼
Ayyy awesome man, glad you got something out of this video
Thanks, making beats built 100% from samples is so much more satisfying!!!
Great shit brotha keep it up on these. Compared to other teachers you're a patient explainer - subscribed.
Thank you Billyboy, I'm glad you're enjoying my videos! Is there any topic or anything in particular you'd wanna see a video on by the way?

Woo! I used the tips in this video on my last beat! Didn't know how to do this before. Thank you!
This is SUPER HELPFUL. Thanks, bro.
You're welcome Jimmie! Dag I forgot I even made this video
Some of the best bass sounds I've ever heard are from a small sample someone talking.
Really? Any examples you can share? I'm guessing they pitch the sample all the way down to create bass tones
Unless it's my older brother talking who has spoken in C1 since we were 7 😆
How interesting! thanks for another nice guide
Thank you for watching once again my friend!
great advice!
Thank you my friend
You just earned yourself a subscriber sir well done very informative thank you

I really have to thank you man! You are really helping me out on my way to learn producing! Greetings from germany :)
I’m so grateful for your videos thank you 🙏
Excelent tip bro
Thanks for this bro!
Thank you dude ur rlly helpful!
Thank you so much man! ✊
Thank you so much for watching Rybread 👌
can you make a video on how to figure out which note is playing in a sample?
These short bass notes merge with the long bass notes and become muddy. Maybe use a side chain to muffle long bass notes with short bass notes?
Thank you 👍🏼
Very Nice work
Thank you my friend! Glad you liked the videos
8:24 SICK VIBES!!! Still confused by the fact this channel hasn't blown up yet what is wrong with ppl!!!

It sounds similar to "Murder Czen" is it the same samples ?

Use the ADSR to stretch out the sustain and the release
please can i steal the bassline pattern @1:14, please it's just too sick to only be in a tutorial

How to find the key of a sample? And how to fit a bassline and drums to it?
Hey bro Thanks for this tutorial i really appreciate it i wonder if there any chance we can talk i really need some help to open my eyes
💯💯🔥
So did I get it right ? You made a bass sample by cutting it of the main sample?
Yep, and just doing some extreme filtering and shaping
After finding out the note and tuned the pitch to C from F with -500 cents .
My bass keeps playing C. Even if I'm on D7 octave it never changes tone repeats C.

You might need to change the stretching mode of the sample
If i would have this when i was maybe twenty ...
You'd be a trillionaire
