In my opinion this is the best painted Angry Ron I’ve seen thus far and I can’t wait to try and emulate the style. Being red/green color blind has made me always hesitant to paint red but this was motivating. Also, that sword is epic. Well done, Vince!
I can't wait to hear all about how I did my daemon wings wrong on my bloodthirster. your video is too late to save me! In fairness, I'm pretty darn happy with him. He'd be better if I did him today, but I can still look at it and be proud... as long as I don't look at your model beforehand.
I used almost the exact same colors for red when trying to paint a red dragon for practice. I'm glad I picked the right colors even if I didn't apply them well
Nice! I've been painting a lord of change recently. I'm really struggling with how damn big it is! Maybe a video idea for you (if you ever find yourself in need of one) is tips for big minis not in subassemblies: ergonomics, how to do the details, any positions of yourself or the mini that help, tools, etc. Just a thought!
Oh yeah! If I adapt my micromanagement painting style on big miniatures it takes forever to paint. A tutorial on how to plan to paint big miniatures would be great.
I have nothing against airbrushing, I'll hopefully be able to get one myself this year because it is a awesome tool. But for some reason I enjoy watching the paint strokes more in videos and all the techniques that comes with a brush than pushing a trigger and seeing paint slowly get on the thd model. I have no idea why it's more enjoyable to watch a normal brush tho.
This is an excellent tutorial and those wings look amazing, Vince! I feel like I'm in a plateau of late and watching videos like this is firing up my imagination as to what colors I can use to reverse engineer your choices as well as how a similar approach with other colors would work as in picking the right colors in my scheme. Thank you for the quality content!
As always, a fantastic job. What would you consider the thinner to paint ratio difference between a glaze and a filter? I've always considered them the same dilution.
It's more a matter of use, glazes are used to establish how a color primarily reads on a model, where a filter is used to tweak colors already laid down. The mixing ratios are going to be wholly dependent on the native opacity of the pigments you're using, and the desired intensity of the colors you're laying down.
I cover it in a previous video - (ruclips.net/video/TbCtUYFwFWQ/видео.html) and its all a bit amorphous, but the basic idea is the filter is just slightly changing the color, where as the tint is meant to do a little more.
Thanks for this! doing a red study on a khorne demon prince and will be using this as an example for the skin areas! I've never really painted Red at a high level (lots of green, very little red). Doing it in prep for painting my Kraken-inspired color scheme for my tyranids. One question on "The Red" is that a napthol red or a pyrrole red? It's easier for me to get Golden or Pro-Acryl paints than it is Kimera.
How would you modify these techniques for a model that doesn't have as much sculpted detail? I've got a few Reaper Bones dragons and demons that have been collecting dust coz I haven't really been inspired to paint them.
Much more focused, especially as they tend to have very specific detail and the face especially is usually where you should spend the majority of your time on your miniature.
Looks gorgeous. I wish you'd do a video on how you attach parts like these wings after you paint them. Do you fill in the seam somehow or do you just not worry about it?
Hi Vince, do you have made experiance with the Vallejo Metal Paint range with an airbrush? Could I use them unthinned from the bottle, because they are quiet thin or should I thin them anyway a bit?. I'm using a 0,3 nozzle/needle Harder & Steenbeck. Kind regards MarkL.
Awesome content as always!!👍👍👍 Could you do a Tutorial on painting a female Slaanesh Daemonprincess vor something in that way? I'm really struggling on her purple/magenta/none wings... 🙈

I’m really struggling with my airbrush having only just bought one and I can’t even comprehend using it how you use it! What air pressure do you use for such precise control? Or is that not the most important variable?
Some stippling or similar can give the impression of texture, but the core lessons of build the light toward the center still applies, even over the flat surface.
Question since a demon wing takes ALOT of inspiration from bat wings. if you where to paint a miniature with batwings and wanted to paint them as being transparent or clear like some bats in nature has it. How would you do it and any plans on making a tutorial on that?
So effectively, it's what you're doing when you push the highlights toward the center of the wings. That's why they would be lighter as they are more transluscent. But you can really push that quite far, bringing in the yellow/orange light tones and draw the opacity toward the bone pieces.
For a moment I thought you were going to say : "if you dont have an airbrush, it doesnt matter you can always buy one ...". Awesome stuff - as always!
Great encompassing video on how to paint wings and the different tricks with the airbrush but... That Sword tho! :O WOW

This was the one part of Angron I really wanted a good focused tutorial on. Thanks for reading my mind!!
Glad I could help!
I'd love to see another walkthrough on that sword too! Thanks, Vince.
It was basically the same technique as this video - ruclips.net/video/2r8R-izsrLs/видео.html
Thanks vince!
Thats pure class. Cheers Vince.
yesssss i like your style alot more than the purple style skin!
I really like that you used the airbrush a lot. I finally have a good setup and slowly get into using it more.
Perfect timing. I'm about to paint a balrog and this will come in handy when painting it's wings.
This was also an in depth tutorial on light and proper placement!! A two for!! Super thanks!!! Production has gotten incredible!!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent timing as I have some bat winged Bombshell Minis on the way.

Nice work Vince . Yea wings are fun to do I have some monster 1/6th garage kits with them.

Looks stunning as always. Love the sword.
Thank you very much!
Thank you! This tecnique will work on dragon's wings too!
For me, this is one of your best videos Vince, really well explained👌 the entire model came out really well also 👏👏
Fantastic as always. Thank you Vince!
My pleasure!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍

I agree! I'm stuck with ice dragon 😕. Too big, too transparent, not looking alive.
Oh yeah! If I adapt my micromanagement painting style on big miniatures it takes forever to paint. A tutorial on how to plan to paint big miniatures would be great.
It's a great idea for a video.
Cool as always. 👍
one day i am ganna paint magnus. excelent as always vince thanks for sharing
You can do it!

Awesome video! Wish I saw this before tackling Krondys. It turned out pretty well but this would have encouraged a few other decisions.
Nothing done wrong with this one!

Implied fire? I like to think Angry Ron always does a John Cena walkout from every explosion.
I need to calculate the level of influence needed to reach "get free stuff from GW" level. :P
2 dragons sitting with their wings waiting, perfect timing for me haha. They were giving me grief.
Same with me!
Amazing video, I would love to know more about your technique with the sword. It looks awesome!
Covered in this video here - ruclips.net/video/2r8R-izsrLs/видео.html
Thank you!!
Amazin video, but please put the light form the beginning at a different place. The reflexion in your glasses drawes heavily the attention. 😂Cheers
“We make lots and lots of strokes”
Same….
👍👍

Pyrrole red.

So all of these lines and variation can always just be painted in, think of it like creating the contour like a make-up tutorial. :)
Am I right in thinking you apply the same process on the face and skill/hands? Or do they need a more focused approach without drybrushing?
Much more focused, especially as they tend to have very specific detail and the face especially is usually where you should spend the majority of your time on your miniature.
Looks gorgeous. I wish you'd do a video on how you attach parts like these wings after you paint them. Do you fill in the seam somehow or do you just not worry about it?

Vallejo metal color is great through the airbrush and vallejo air also works fine.
Love the vids thanks for that! 1 question is you you who "sings techno V vince" part?! XD
That would be Ninjon. :)

18-20 PSI, but trigger control is something that comes in time and practice.
@@VinceVenturella thanks 🙏🏽
What if the wings don't have much texture on them? More flat wings is what I mean, no ridges, no nothing
Some stippling or similar can give the impression of texture, but the core lessons of build the light toward the center still applies, even over the flat surface.

I have difficulties with painting actual transparent plastic. Prime is not working as it should, oh🥴
