I've been a subscriber for about a year, but I just wanted to say thank you. I had an epiphany while watching this video. I just graduated from CU Boulder, and had an office job right out of school. I hated the repetitive, mundane routine. I was floundering for a while, wondering what I was going to do. I realized that I loved watching your videos about people's homes and their explanations about why they have the things they have. I want to be a design anthropologist, which is why I wrote my honors thesis on residential design in Colorado. Anyway, the answer to what I am passionate about was right in front of my face, but this video, for whatever reason, helped me see that. I am now applying to graduate school for design anthropology, but this video and all of your Tour videos have kept me in touch with why I want to study design. I find it fascinating to watch people describe their homes and the objects with which they choose to surround themselves. It is revealing and exciting to hear someone speak, so passionately, of how design has impacted their daily life. I am now ecstatic to find a job working with vintage and hand-made furniture, helping people find meaning in the things they have in their homes. So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

This girl reminds me of Marni from Girls. I appreciate the passion these two seem to have for Japanese design and technique. But I'm kind of weirded out by people who have houses like this and are filled with only high-design things. What about your stained tea towels from your grandma? That can opener you got from Walmart at 2am? The ugly mugs your coworkers give to you on your birthday. I respect that everything is basically a piece of art, but I really can't relate to this way of living. It also kinda looks like every other young hip apartment. I liked hearing about the art and seeing some of the books. I liked this post though, Christine, because they seem to have a lot of knowledge about Japanese design.
Everyone is unique and that is what makes us special. I personally am an artist (I think they are too), so I like to decorate with artistic pieces, it makes me feel good. My husband doesn't consider him self an artist and wants to put family photos everywhere, it's not my style. It is just what works for you 😀

Christine I really enjoy the way you create content for your audience. I like the feel of the apartment. Each piece is something that brings them joy or something that brings them some sense of something special. I really enjoy the minimalist feel to the apartment and just how every piece has a story and is meaningful and seemingly rare.

I am loving your apartment tour collection on your channel its so unique. Its a tough choice but I think theirs is my favorite so far. It is like a museum of leather, wood and ceramics. I would LOVE to also know where Alysha got her top and jeans and shoes from lol!

The entire time I watch videos like this, all I think the whole time is "all my furniture is from target".
Target designs beautiful pieces. It's about how you piece them together. If you only focus on what you think looks good to others and doesn't feel good to yourself, you won't be satisfied with your own home. Keep moving things around and keep what speaks to you and your personality.

I am obsessed with your apartment tour series. Seeing people just a few years older than me have their careers in various aspects of design so figured out is inspiring. I would love to see a video that interviews them and explains how they got where they are...what past job/edu experience was necessary, important skills, and in general how to be successful. As a USA made advocate I love how you have incorporated so many local artists and artisans into your channel. brava!

What a nice couple, and such a lovely space!! I could spend hours looking around their apartment at all of their well curated treasures! I just went to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in PA and was inspired by all of the greenery, architectural furniture, textiles, and ceramics - and their place has a lot of similarities! I love HASAMI pottery made in Nagasaki, Japan. Also I have been to Truck Furniture exhibition in Tokyo as well. I really like how they combined all of the pieces from different designers into one. :)

...simple, minimal, Asian-flair, influenced by a very hip and cool couple, that could bring together so many home furnishings that blend and flow and have that Feng Shui feel without being obvious. The woods, the leathers, the pottery, all having sleek lines in familiar unique designs, all sums up to what they own as; Beautiful ~
