There are several BL series in your video that I had not heard of before, so I'm very excited! Let's hope that at least a few of these end up on your Best of 2022 list and not on your Meh 2022 list. I was not a huge fan of Yearbook, as I thought it was draggy in spots and a little too melodramatic, but I am eager to see what happens with Mean's new show. Honestly, all of them sound pretty good.
Let’s not forget the director of Lovely Writer went cuckoo with sound effects on first 2 eps of that series and did an ok series Something in My Room. Most excited for the ones with good directors attached though.
Young Royals 2: I got the tip about the series (part 1) whimsically from my daughter and didn't have much hope that the series could be good . "I thought teenage stuff. Series for little screaming girls." But the series was great, beautiful actors, heartfelt story. So I'm looking forward to part 2. My only non-Asian series.
A good portion of these series I hadn't heard before. They all look worthy of a gander once released. ♥ I'm rooting for Mean's film because I enjoyed 'The Yearbook' and it was unexpected since I had no expectations for it. 😂 Thank you for keeping us in the loop. Hugs from Orlando, FL. ☀ 🌴 🏖
2.5 questions about Remember Me 1. is this a sequel to The Yearbook? I see the same leads and the same director, but your comments don't indicate whether it's a sequel or whether the same actors have been shipped again. 1.5. Does the title seem ominous if it is a sequel? The Yearbook shifted between scenes that BL fans expect BL to deliver (fluffy fun between young guys who like each other) and tear-jerking melodrama about accepting with dignity that life sometimes delivers cruel outcomes to the people we love (sad is not fluffy fun). Who asks to be remembered unless they expect they will.... You know, maybe I will just keep my expectations in check and let the story come to me on its own terms. 2. What is up with Mean's hair? Is that look in preparation for some acting role? Or does he want to separate his reality from his pretty boy image? (Does he have a pretty boy image in the first place?)
@@j_scott I couldn't stop seeing Leonard Nimoy when disheveled Spock first appears in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Actually, I think Mean could play a Vulcan. Temperamentally and visually.
I just checked MDL, thinking I could answer #1 on my own. Uncharacteristically, MDL show page was inconclusive at answering #1. But it did list Mean with a main role as an actor. So, I'd say that's a presumptive answer to #2, he's in character.
He. He I think Mean's hair is his director state far from pretty boy image. It's literally letting your hair down once you are behind the camera instead of being in front of it.
I was not familiar with entries 10 to 4, but if they are on your radar then I will be on the look out for them. In America there was something called the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, so for BL series you are my Goof Housekeeping Seal of Approval. The only 3 that I knew of were your top 3 - and those also are the ones i have been excited about. All of them have great promise and I have a good feeling on each of them.
That is the most glorious typographical error of 2022! What can be more fitting for BL than the *Goof Housekeeping Seal of Approval* And if switching out the d for an f was intentional, then full credit to David (who should go check out my "fix" yesterday to a comment he made in the Rak Diao video from March) for brilliantly mating an old concept with a new genre.
Moonlight I’m here for it and I also love a bit of controversy in a bl drama sometimes it’s nice to have them it gives a different approach of drama in the series, My fav cp playing as The Who are committing the mischief so I’m excited but feel sorry for the boyfriend/ husband in the film

Look out, world! John just accidentally discovered how to to add emphasis with *bold typeface* ! Expect him to *totally* overuse this new gimmick during the next several videos. Oops! John forgot he is a refugee from the 1980s. He meant to write, "Expect him to, *like, totally* overuse this, *like, totally awesome* new gimmick." [Also, he, like, did the Valley Girl voice inflection in his head when he typed that out.]
I cannot wait for I Feel You Linger in the Air. Besides discovering Nonkul in Bad Genius movie, Bright was fantastic in Game Pratanna (Rivalry) when he played a side BL character.
"...something exceptional is guaranteed." In both sports and show business, past performance is never a guarantee about future performance on any random match (sports) or project (show business). I had very high hopes for a couple of series earlier this year, and those lofty expectations of mine inflected my opinion of those series when they began to disappoint me. It was if the dashing of my high hopes compounded the flaws of the shows. Meanwhile, when a couple of series I knew nothing about exceeded expectations it was if their admittedly mild successes compounded my enjoyment of the whole. It suggests to me that I may be more likely to connect with a series, or at least to accept it on its own terms, when I temper my expectations. And, two years after plunging into this BL rabbit hole, perhaps I'm just a bit jaded about what will move my emotions. These days, I seek out trailers less often and try to keep my excitement in check so I can be as neutral as possible when I start to experience new series. Obviously, some of the series mentioned here pique my interest more than others. But I will try not to sabotage any of them with the burden of my premature excitement. They can earn that with good episodes instead.
I agree, before making this video I went through my start of 2022 video about upcoming ones, and most were Meh instead of wow... hence, this time I selected these series based on the director, actors and production house rather than how much excited the viewers are or how promising the teaser is. Hope 2nd half of 2022 give us better surprises.
it was like 10-11 years ago.. let's say worked under him that with him, in BU.. i was just starting out as a backstage crew. Have you too worked with him?
So it looks like the second half of the year may make up for the not so good first half. They have potential, haha hope they can deliver. I have high hopes for Moonlight Chicken, with those actors and director I think it will be great. Young Royals 2 I am excited about as well, great cast and director also. Just finished Old Fashion Cup Cake, wow loved that series. I think it jumped to second on my list. Watched Minato Shouji Coin Laundry first episode WOW check that out. Thank you Japan. Surprised it is not on the list.
@@blcritic Did you ever watch The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window from last year, made from a popular Manga. Just watched it, very good. The ghost images are kinda stupid, but other than that the story telling and acting was great.

I know that we will have utter shenanigans regarding some fans, not being able to accept seeing Mix, and Earth being shameless cheaters. 😉 😜
The two controversial series are the only ones I’d heard of, but I’m excited to watch them both. I’m all in for the messy, intense drama that 180 degrees is promising. I had no idea that Moonlight Chicken was going to be EarthMix’s last series together. That makes the anticipation kind of bittersweet, but it’s probably a good thing for them. I hope they can navigate the Thai BL shipping culture well enough to maintain their popularity and careers.
The only one on this list we have had a chance to see is About Youth now finished episode 4, WOW loved it so far, the two leads are great, like the story and the pacing is good. Hope it keeps getting better. Minato's Laundry, don't dislike, the story telling is good, but maybe tomany episodes and too much heartbreak, kinda want it to be finished. Takara Kun to Amagi Kun continues to amaze, the younger looking lead who plays Amagi is really18 but really amazing at playing a young student. War of Y the first 5 episodes just seemed fake to me, but episode 6 OMG, that is worth a video for sure a lot to be said there, in light of a current hot couple. Act like a real couple but just say you are brothers even if you are real. So toxic and twisted. Papa and Daddy 2, I was not a huge fan of season 1, it was ok but really not liking season 2 that much. Do not feel any connection between the two leads, the kids are cute. Love in the Air, the couple is kinda cute but the story is stupid. The way that Payu is being very aggressive with Rain and at one point spanking him is such a turn off. That MAME thing, I do not know why people support that women. My Only 12% Maybe to early to judge the series but I think they have done the retro part well, I think the actors have done a good job playing younger students. Love the character of Cake. I thought maybe it was me but saw someone saying the thing I was thinking on Facebook. I find the Eiw character very annoying and unsympathetic, are we suppost to relate and feel bad for him? Vice Versa and Eclipse just the same old GMMtv stuff. Eclipse I kinda like but just The Blacklist/Gifted with a BL twist. I guess they think if they do what worked in the past they will be ok. On Cloud Nine, what the hell is going on there, I had high hopes for them but the story is just to out there and confusing for me. Do not really like the couple. 180 degrees Longitude, is good, not BL a gay series. Since this is really a three character piece, I find it difficult because I do not like the women playing the mother, In and the son are great. 21 Days was kinda cute maybe glad it was only 4 episodes. From the list we have got 180 degrees too currently airing and it is good. I will do a review of that too. Apart form that I will do a review of the first 6 episodes of War of y, Minato's laundry I kept it on hold around 3rd ep. papa and daddy 2 is just okay. Love in the air.. typical Mame and that spanking scene.. I still can't comprehend how the director thought it was okay. Others I haven't yet watched. Oh yeah.. vice versa i dropped at 3rd episode.. and Eclipse.. fells like BL version of Blacklist, I am still watching it, but apart form sexual tension the story is going nowhere.
@@blcritic I think I should get an award for making it to the end of Unforgotten Night and Check Out, OMG they were bad. Only two episodes of Coffee Melody and I hate it already. Do people watch these things. I guess a true critic takes the good with the bad. Did watch Symantic Error in the movie format, god I love that series. I was wondering if I would, it is truely a classic. Looking forward to your 180 Degree video.
God... you should get an award.. both Unforgotten Night and Check Out I dropped halfway into first episode. Hehe.. And coffee melody... come on.. I don't even see clips also.. looks like nobody's watching it! and 'in light of a current hot couple. Act like a real couple but just say you are brothers even if you are real' haha.. what about another hot couple who got so much into method acting and kissed more off camera than on camera and now one says ' those who know me knows I am straight!'?
@@blcritic I wish we could do a real look at this strange asian fan base shipping where they want these two guys to kiss, hug, live together and sleep together in real life, just like a real gay couple but not really be gay, just brothers. When they find out they are a real couple the international fans think it is great but the asian fans seem to drop them. Look at Zee and Nunew, who keep saying they are real, but now they seem to be a forgotten couple. These asian women fans want to see straight guys kissing, that seems to be the kink. Did you see how they hugged and kissed oh they must be real but if they find out oh they really are REAL, oh that is so GAY, gross. As bl becomes more popular world wide I think there will be more and more of a clash between whst is bl and what is gay.
I read that comic Love tractor simply because it was such an odd pairing. Let's see how they adapt on screen. I think I have read New employee too.Bl webcomics are so weird and outlandish in many ways 😀.Btw, I read that old fashioned cupcake was based on manga. I read the manga too.. I have been reading, browsing too many Bl mangas from Japan. OFC was word to word manga based. I enjoy reading mangas a lot. Some are too graphic and 18+( just skip those parts - too outlandish, crazy) & weird but fun nonetheless. Some have good fun stories, some are stupid with beautiful drawing. I have been reading non Bl mangas like Death Note. Mangas are whole different universe which I have been recently introduced to. What stuff exists in this world!
Oh my god.. you entered the world of manga.. now there's no going back... that's one reason I do not read manga... as I have so less time and if I start going through them.. those visual ones will take me into different world
@@blcritic yeah it's addictive. I can't believe after reading likes of George Orwell, Thomas Hardy, Bernard Shaw, Mark Twain etc ( the Greats) & numerous great writers I am reading all this Bl junk( some of them). My husband can't believe what pop culture I am consuming now when he sees me perusing mangas. He doesn't know I am seeing likes of Kinn Porsche etc, god knows what he will say! Even though I abandon half the mangas I start and only read some to the end, it's never ending! I am reading Bakuman whose writer is same guy who wrote Death note and it's about becoming a manga writer. God, being a manga writer seems to be a very lonely, difficult job.
I used to be an avid manga reader, and I have an entire flashdrive full of manga, but then my main manga-reading buddy lost interest and I sort of drifted away from it, too. I should go back and reread some of them. There was a series called Rules that I remember being good. Very long and melodramatic. I may go dig it back out.
I´m here for the Korean bl´s👍. Because they gave us Semantic error and To my star 2! I love to my star 2❤. The best second season of a bl👍👏❤!I hope Midnight chicken will be on youtube so I can watch MixEarth, but I have to say I was disappointed with Cupid´s last wish a little...
I was very disappointed with Cupids Last Wish due to Mix nonstop shouting as his performance- shows how important a good director and acting coach are to make inexperienced actors show well.
"The best second season of a bl." [PART ONE] Hey, Mr Critic, did you spot the obvious subject for a video in Sova's comment? No, not a review video for TMS2, because a series review video is always fair game for a channel called "BL Critic." I mean another ranking video. If memory serves, last year you may have done one that asked why BL sequels often missed the mark. But maybe a video that judges which ones worked best? Make it a Top Five since getting 10 good ones on that list might be cruel to ask for. In fact, if you limit the list only to sequels that surpassed the original, then the list might not need five spots. How about "surpassed" and/or "didn't ruin the memory of the original" as the criterion? Also, sometimes it's good to reach into the vault to see how current series stack up against older ones, and I suspect this list might lead us to put some vintage Ohm, Singto, and MaxTul into conversation with sequels to the post pandemic BL series.
"The best second season of a bl." PART TWO I need to ponder awhile before I conclude whether I am onboard with Sova labeling TMS2 as the "best" BL sequel, but I fully endorse the idea that it surpassed the original. Also, it's completely different from the original. So chuck out any expectations you have about it before you watch. Possibly including the idea it's a BL, because I'd say TMS2 definitely is not a fluffy rom-com. This very different, possibly not-BL BL did, however, compel me to revise my one-week old list, Top 10 BLs of 2022. So there's that.
I think TMS2 could have done with fewer episodes, tighter editing, and less melodrama. I thought the angst was going to kill me around episode 7, and then I thought I was going to come through the screen and kill Ji Woo in episode 8. Lort, that man. The ending was good, though, so I suppose that makes up for the angst-fest.
@@j_scott I'll concede those are fair criticisms. But they bothered me less than they did you. I gave it a really high ranking and even wrote out a long-ass review on MDL. Right now, I'm trying to locate our exchange about Rak Diao.i know it's here somewhere. I have a verdict.
some are still filming... so they have not even decided which streaming app they will give rights to. Most of the Thai ones will be available in ch3 app
Not really fitting to upcoming bl’s but if you liked Heartstopper, hurry to watch Handsome devil before it’s gone from Netflix, at least here in Sweden it’s gone in a few days. Watch it before it’s too late. It’s more LGTBQ than BL but very much worth a watch. You can thank me afterwards. 😛
Korean BLs are going better and better today while Thai BLs are disappointments most of the time. The long term shipping culture in Thai BLs are making me sick. The usual overused tropes and cliches as well as recycled storylines are also very common in Thai BLs.
**Whoa !!😲🤗 Na Naphat is going to play in Wish Me Luck !! I definitely wish him luck !!🫰 ‘The short-sighted Kinn’ doesn’t love him, but I do !!**🥰 But first, let’s talk about Remember Me. The Year Book left me a fulfilling feeling when I recalled my high school years having a Year Book of my own. I found the series impressive despite its flaws like you said. So I’ll give Remember Me a chance. I think I’m going to give The New Employee a go too since Cherry Magic was so fun to watch. Hope this series with similar vibe will be enjoyable as well. Next : Lost In The Woods … I believe I saw the big star Ananda Everingham in your video as the director. This reason alone is enough to encourage me to try watching it. If Ananda is determined to direct this BL, it must have something quite interesting. 180 Degree Longitude Between Us … just the title intrigues me to get excited plus the plot you described was alluring. However I was uncomfortable by the plot of Moonlight Chicken since I watched its pilot. As a married woman : from my perspective adultery should not be condoned. Even though the couple is EarthMix that we’ve been supportive since 1,000 Stars, it is not okay anyway if the leads are adulterers. Nonetheless I still have a high hope P’Aof wouldn’t disappoint us. I Feel You Linger In The Air = I’m not so sure about this one ‘cause the second BL from Dee Hub House was almost a failure. Therefore I Feel You might follow Something In My Room’s footsteps. The plot about time traveling makes the series sort of a historical BL. The settings, the costumes, the props, the vibes : these stuffs make I Feel You more difficult to make than SIMR. Let’s have fingers crossed it won’t let us down. For me personally : the most awaited series is Vice Versa. It may not be the one I am most anticipating but it certainly is my most awaited one because of Jimmy & Sea. I am shipping them so hard right now.☺️🤭
There are several BL series in your video that I had not heard of before, so I'm very excited! Let's hope that at least a few of these end up on your Best of 2022 list and not on your Meh 2022 list.

Hehe.. And coffee melody... come on.. I don't even see clips also.. looks like nobody's watching it! and
'in light of a current hot couple.
I think I forgot to see Young Royals. I just remembered you people discussing it last year. It must be on Netflix, right??
@@zahrabjinu yup. That one is also on Netflix.
Oh my god.. you entered the world of manga.. now there's no going back... that's one reason I do not read manga... as I have so less time and if I start going through them.. those visual ones will take me into different world
@@blcritic yeah it's addictive.
Don't forget " My Tooth Your Love" , another great Taiwanese BL drama. It is produced by the same team as " We Best Love: No1 for You" !
I am yet to watch it... I will bingewatch it next week when ep 8 airs.
It would be helpful if you listed where these BL's can be watched?
some are still filming... so they have not even decided which streaming app they will give rights to. Most of the Thai ones will be available in ch3 app
Are you looking for what to watch there is "unfortagable night theserie" Mafia with a cute face 😊
hehe.... dropped may be on 2nd episode... not my type.
Your BL Critic yont easy to please ...I loved it first episode until now but I failed to pick interest in Kinnporche yet both seems gangsters
Wow thank you. I will watch it and give you my views.
Takura Kun to Amagi Kun, the Japanese OMG they are doing stuff that no one else could get away with.
I will watch it when the series reaches halfway. I am excited for it...
Korean BLs are going better and better today while Thai BLs are disappointments most of the time. The long term shipping culture in Thai BLs are making me sick. The usual overused tropes and cliches as well as recycled storylines are also very common in Thai BLs.
May be Korea and Japan might push Thai BL to do better. Let's hope!
@@blcritic That's my same hope.
**Whoa !!😲🤗
Na Naphat is going to play in Wish Me Luck !!
I definitely wish him luck !!🫰
‘The short-sighted Kinn’ doesn’t love him, but I do !!**🥰
But first, let’s talk about Remember Me.
I am shipping them so hard right now.☺️🤭
Saame! cant wait to watch Vice Versa!
