As a severe weather enthusiast, it took a very long time to get to that point. My journey is like many other storm-lovers’ stories; It started when I was 9 years old. I’ll never forget it. A tornado came barreling through our front yard one calm September evening, without warning. I remember staring out of our big bay window in awe at what was happening outside. I knew that I should be taking cover, but they say people become almost Mesmerized by tornadoes, and that’s exactly what it felt like. I couldn’t look away, almost to my detriment. But, just as quickly as the funnel came, it disappeared, and all was right in the world again. Except, something was awakened in me. This deep-seeded fear sort of crept into my 9 year old self, not at first, but slowly over time. It got to the point where I was terrified if there was even a slight breeze, and if it was thundering out, forget it. I was rolled up in a ball at the foot of my parents bed, crying & hyperventilating from fear. This fear lasted my entire childhood. I always remember being afraid that a tornado would come. In the shower, I’d be afraid to wash my hair because thoughts of what would happen if a tornado hit while I had soap in my hair would race through my mind. This intense fear somehow slowly went away once I was a young adult, maybe in my early 20’s, and was replaced by an intense interest in storms. I don’t know how it happened, but now I live for a good thunderstorm. I even go out and drive to an open area where I have a decent view of the sky when we get severe weather alerts. I absolutely love them now! But it’s not just the storms I enjoy; It’s the cozy feeling of hunkering down with loved ones & battening down the hatches that comes along with it. Like for a moment, the world stops and nothing else matters. It’s the threat of chaos that thrills my soul. I don’t quite understand it, but it’s a truly amazing feeling. Addicting, even. Kind of like when the power goes out and you all huddle together under the warm glow of candlelight. It’s just a cozy feeling. Comforting. I don’t know why I became so afraid of storms as a kid, but I’m positive that the tornado I experienced when I was 9 had something to do with it. I’ve read that it’s common for kids to get PTSD after major storms or natural disasters, and it sounds a lot like what I experienced. But I was never diagnosed officially, mainly because my parents likely didn’t think it was anything worth seeing a doctor over. But whatever it was, I’m glad that I’m no longer crippled with fear whenever nature decides to grace us with her presence & put on a show. I’d be severely missing out.
As a photographer myself, I understand these are a lot harder than they look to make! Really appreciate it. It takes dedication and skill to pull this off with no mess-ups. This is literally one of those things you need to often do frame-by-frame stills in RAW and painstakingly edit together for HOURS. Not to mention the travelling and staying up! And making sure everything is sturdy and in place. One good gust of wind and a loosened tripod and all the work could be ruined and have to buy expensive equipment all over again. Also never knowing what to expect in that weather. A stray lightning bolt could ruin the camera, even if it's not a direct hit. But in the end, it's worth it and SO satisfying to realize you finished it and to sit back and watch it. VERY GOOD JOB!

Hi not meaning to sound offensive, just curious, why would you need to spend so much time to chase a storm? Is it a logistical issue or something more? Thanks

In 2003 I made a drive from Seattle WA across to Wyoming, down to Colorado, then all over TX and west to Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Palm Spring,s San Diego and back up the coast to Seattle. in about 32 days. I ran into a lot of Spring weather, rainstorms, white out snowstorms, tornado in Happy TX, and more wind and rainstorms across TX and from the Grand Canyon to Vegas, a dust storm. I had some beautiful weather and some really nasty stuff, but it was to visit various friends and relatives along the way. The tornado near Happy TX was the most dramatic as we watched the fingers reach down out of the clouds trying to form that tornado which it eventually did but by then it was wrapped in a rainstorm so we couldn't see it though we were within 2 miles of Happy. It cut the Baptist church in half, and jumped over the town, killing a grandmother and her two grandkids. I'll never forget that trip which I drove by myself. About 7000 miles. This was amazing and absolutely stunning to see these storms form and swirl and toss about.
@@MikeOlbinski Hi Again. In August I drove over to Savannah GA to celebrate my daughter's birthday. For the better part of the past few months, I've been painting storm clouds. It's hit and miss for me, in regards to try and capture their enigmatic, forever shape shifting epic GRANDEUR. The tones of grey that are the antagonist for the brilliant ultra-white pillows of vapor that follows it in the open sky. Your film here, has effortlessly compelled me to see clouds of all categories, as well as storm patterns and movements in a brand new way. I now am rethinking how i perceive cloud and storm formation and activity. There are some scenes in your film, that left me speechless, and thoroughly inspired. Thank you the inspiration.
I have loved storms my whole life. The ambience, the air, the smell and the difference in pressure. Seeing this movie makes me feel so peaceful and so humbled, I love it. Amazing work. Also, I would recommend to put a flashing light warning in the beginning of the video or a title, for people with photosensitivity.
Stunning, serene, and surreal. Thanks. I wish I had this on a repeating screen like a picture to always play on a wall, even when no one is looking at it. And yes, there is peace even in the storm since peace is the individual's perspective. Looking at our planet as it might become unlivable for our species would be amazing, if not extinguishing our awareness.
That is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, and it's so obvious to everyone who watches this that it's a true labour of love. Thank you so much. I think if this video had been 5 hours long I would still have watched every second!

I recently watched a LOT of your videos (in one night), and this was our FAVORITE!!! Must have watched it repeatedly and sat there with our mouths gaping open, just hitting each other in the arm saying "did you see that?!?!" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I'll be honest though, we didn't listen to it with the music Peter composed. Instead we trusted our own music selections and were stunned at how they would continuously sync up without fail. This made things so very exciting! Incredible footage and so worth it in the end. Thank you so much for capturing this form of beauty in our little world.
If this isn't the most beautiful capture of The Lord's Rejuvenation and cleanse of His Creation, I have not seen it. His Majesty's and balance IS IN THIS VIDEO. Thank you for sharing this and all of your hard work. I cannot thank you enough.
Have you ever thought of capturing a lightning storm in slow motion? I know it would take 2 hours to watch but I love watching lighting in slow motion I have captured some clips on my iPhone 240fps lol and it looks amazing!
I spent much of my youth in N. Texas where spring and early summer storms can be deadly and hypnotizing to watch. This is a great video, I can't believe it took me three years to stumble across it. Cudo's to the musical artist too.

enigmatic, forever shape shifting epic GRANDEUR. The tones of grey that are the antagonist for the brilliant ultra-white pillows of vapor that follows it in the open sky.
Your film here, has effortlessly
compelled me to see clouds of all
categories, as well as storm patterns
and movements in a brand new way.
I now am rethinking how i perceive
cloud and storm formation and activity.
There are some scenes in your film,
that left me speechless, and thoroughly
inspired.
Thank you the inspiration.
I would honestly love to see a storm-chasing documentary, or a feature-length film about this stuff. Watching it like this is mesmerizing.
Absolutely STUNNING , pure work of art. Beautiful music which fits perfectly ... Blown away...thankyou
woah them sunset clips are insane
I don't know how this video doesn't have a million views already. This video is just absolutely breathtaking.
I have another video called Ambient Storms that is an hour long that you can loop!
This is the most beautif storm footage i have ever seen, thank you
That is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, and it's so obvious to everyone who watches this that it's a true labour of love. Thank you so much. I think if this video had been 5 hours long I would still have watched every second!
I use this video and Dustin Farrell's Transient 4K to calibrate all my electronics which is why I send a buck or two every now and then. I trust your wonderful wife and kids are doing well❤Thanks again for your dedication!
haha, thank you for that!!! Appreciate it and I hope it helps!!
When you've been lock down for 2 months and one morning came across this amazing video " i started crying"😭 I feel so much good now. Thanks Mike
Appreciate that Kamran!
I feel your passion ! Whew !!!
I'll never understand people that cry over a youtube video
@@bgcm1995 watch it at 4k on a big screen.
@@bgcm1995 whatever bro. It's not just a "RUclips video".. the content is what makes one cry. Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma on RUclips makes me cry.
Wow! Stunning! A visual opera. Beautiful and creative. Epic! Blown away with the color and clarity. Bravo!
Praise be to the ONE! Words fall short when you see nature like this, Simply Magnificent!

Aww, thank you Ken, glad it could help!
Since I live in Southern California I don’t see any big storms like these, amazing.
Mm Too, i also live in Southern California.
Just WOW!
What more can you say.
Love the vivid colours, and the velvet clouds that look sooo soft to touch.
The music is very well suited, very well done to your music producer.
Fab job all round :-)
That was the most visually stunning video that I have seenina very long time. Superb
Outstanding music selection! Really amazing to watch the development of these storm fronts and how rapidly they can dominate the area.

I'm shocked how amazing this is? Seeing the clouds form in Storms in Timelapse is one of the most beautiful thing I've seen.. just wow, this video made me understand more of how beautiful, majestic, terrifying and powerful mothernature is.
Awesome Job!! 👍👍
Thank you Alexander and for subscribing!
That is Earth.... Still getting around what I just saw, incredible.
Thank you!
This year has taken a toll on me mentally and physically. I started watching storm videos today and i think ive found my safe space. Thank you for making this film.
6:35 simply amazing!
*The clouds' movements are astonishing! Great photography!* 🙏✨
Thank you!
This was so beautiful! I love watching video in 4K. But this was more than just storms this was COLOR!
What a special place you live in! I never expected storms like this to exist

If this isn't the most beautiful capture of The Lord's Rejuvenation and cleanse of His Creation, I have not seen it. His Majesty's and balance IS IN THIS VIDEO.
Thank you for sharing this and all of your hard work. I cannot thank you enough.
Spectacular film. Thank you for this.
Your work never ceased to amaze me! The Undulatus Asperatus clouds at the end were just breathtaking, wow! Great work Mike!!
Load the atmosphere with heavy metal use heterodyne waves via 750,000 Watts of energy / frequency and you get morgellons disease ! Breathtaking!!
Yep last storm was for sure full of chemtrail made. Beautiful but fricking man made.
Watched it with my 3 years old son, who said he did not like thunder before, but now he does 😊 Simply stunning art, thank you!
Love to hear that!
Have you ever thought of capturing a lightning storm in slow motion? I know it would take 2 hours to watch but I love watching lighting in slow motion I have captured some clips on my iPhone 240fps lol and it looks amazing!
Well done Mike! Best in the game hands down. Keep it up as always!
I spent much of my youth in N. Texas where spring and early summer storms can be deadly and hypnotizing to watch. This is a great video, I can't believe it took me three years to stumble across it. Cudo's to the musical artist too.
Thanks for finally watching!
The movement of the clouds, the pattern, the colours, the music..this is a masterpiece. Be proud, i know ibwould have if i managed to compose a short but intese film as this❤️👌🏻
