I am a new rider, getting my safety course stamp Nov 22/2020... learning on a Suzuki 250 sport but not leaving 2nd gear and loved the bike, the smooth transmission and takeoff assist... the only one in my class not stalling their bike... my lovely wife found me a 2015 650 versys that I love... it took me 3 months of sheer terror to get into any level of comfort... I am learning at my own speed and love this hobby... at age 62 I had never ridden or even thought of bike, never crossed my mind... I am looking to add to the stable with maybe a 900 tracer or a 1000 sx ninja tour in the fall... cause you guys say, "you can't have enough bikes... " right? Stay well and best wishes to all you young folks. I have a 10 year hobby that is about to get fun. Dave ps. I will ride the Baja in the fall with the versys.

Depends on what your using the bike for. I had a 17 GSXR and now a 19 ZX10R and their is a reason those two bikes were chosen for battle of the brands. If its drag racing one of those two will spank the hell out of Ducati and other brands. Point being depends on what your using the bike for.
It’s blew my mind when I liked the look of the Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the BMW S1000RR and when my friend too me to a bike dealership and I sat on the: BMW S1000RR, Suzuki GSXR 1000, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, (their Ninja H2 was sweet too!) and the Yamaha YZF-R1M. The 2 bikes that were so comfortable and just called me (felt right for me) were the Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R and SURPRISINGLY the Yamaha YZF-R1M.
The V4R was out of my price range at 40K before financing, so I got the V4S. Nice bike. Oh...35K after financing, tax, tags, title and "Extras" from the dealer.

Yes but if the GSXR1000 is pulling almost 142 MPH at the end of the 1/4, ... how fast is it pulling away from a 600RR then? (No slur against the 600RR because realistically who can use that speed on public roads anyhow?) The plus to a liter bike though is the torque and not needing to keep those on a boil all the time just to be in the power zone.
600's are just as fast at 1/4 mile but after that, a liter bikes take off. All new liter bikes are not even setup to use 100% throttle in the first few gears at least. You have to remap them.
@FR I always see listed times as very close to the same. Actual times probably very by a lot because of rider weight altitude... who knows. I own both and know what pulls harder first hand.
If I hadn't been so excited about Indian making a sportbike, I would have gotten another Gixxer. I DO NOT regret buying the ftr at all though, and can't wait to pull up next to my old friend at a light

I think the Yamaha YZF-R1M, BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Honda CBR 1000 (Fireblade & Repsol Color Pattern), Kawasaki Ninja H2 and others look better to me and that I would prefer over a Ducati. Another one that looks cool is the Aprillia RSV4.

Wouldn’t spend over 15k on anything besides a pasta rocket. A Ducati will always be one of the sexiest looking bikes. Also most bikes have to add tons of extras to just get what the Ducati already has.
The street triple is by far the funnest own! Excellent description.. it's sort of like riding an indi car the way it flys through the gears and how it likes to be ridden! Hahaha go fireblades go! Didn't Triumph and Honda or aren't they doing business together? I swear I heard Honda was going to start building engines for them.. hopefully I'm wrong not to knock a Honda but if that was a thing that mean Honda didn't give you fireblades the baddest triple cylinder engine out there

I've got a 2000 R6 and I drool every time I see an R1. I want that brief feeling of "Holy sh** this is fast!" again before getting used to it.

It’s a matter of gearing and rider ability than bikes power to weight ratio
There are mini bikes clipping the 9s and dudes who run 11s on a zx14r, the latter being available to see at any drag strip test and tune day
