Honestly, minus Kenny and DeMarvin Leal(unless he turns a corner) it’s really the last 3 drafts. George, Jaylen and Connor Heyward are all from the Kenny class. Plus Calvin Austin if he can get on the field more.

@@davidgraham2673sure, but in 2022 the steelers were in a position where they NEEDED to draft a QB. it just so happened to be the worst QB class of all time. it’s more unlucky for the steelers than bad draft process or a head scratching decision

This was a seriously fun draft to follow. I've only recently started following the actual draft directly ( 2019 ) and so my expectations of draft picks panning out have been more outcomes of disappointment. I really appreciated being able to start the day with South Side Beat and Mon show then heading off to listen to the DKPS alumni as the draft happened.
I'm thrilled to see they didn't just stop with rounds 1 and 2 but rounded out the O Line and added a WR and some defensive depth pieces.
One the of best comments I heard after the draft was a comment that this rebuilt Oline will give a "pristine" pocket so if a QB can't operate from the pocket, it's on them, and that Najee & Jaylen may well feast behind that O Line.
The other point I really took on board was that this draft, almost all the selections we took had a lot of snaps, which means more of them are likely to be playing earlier than the alternative options might have.
Sure I could be tempered in my expectations but I'm living in the now these days and these last two drafts have been somewhat of a redirect. There's more of a distinct plan. Also in light of both the instructions from Mr Rooney and the way the contracts work, I'm okay if we are selecting guys at skill positions who only are here for one contract for the most part (WRs especially) especially if we are taking ito account durability concerns. Pretty cold blooded I know, but given the average length of NFL careers is less than 5 years, 2nd contracts have to be the exception.
I like this draft, and sure it's fun to see external "validation" of the draft quality in terms of ratings, but I also liked what I saw (in terms of film) and heard (interviews, background) about each of these picks. Roman Wilson in particular really impressed me in the way he talked about his route preparation and planning.

DK, one reoccurring character trait I've noticed with all of our top draft picks is humbleness. It seems like our Steelers tend to value a sort of humble confidence. It makes the team easy to like. Don't get me wrong, I know we've had our share of divas, but I get the feeling that they look for Cam Heyward type players.

Steelers’ fans draft day mantra was, “In Kahn we trust” and Omar didn’t disappoint us.
The way this draft unfolded was a dream scenario for the Steelers. As the other teams were frantically making trades, Omar sat at his #20 spot and let the draft come to him. As the flurry around the Steelers’ war room was reaching fever pitch every player the Steelers wanted, in the round they wanted to take them in, fell to them.
I have no complaint, what so ever, about how the draft worked out for the Steelers. Omar and Andy have the Midas Touch.
I would like to add that AR2’s announcing that he’s tired of being patient and seeing this team make the playoffs, only to be one and done was infuriating. AR2 went on to say he wants to win more Super Bowls, now. That was an edict handed to Omar and Andy to gitter done.
I sense a positive culture shift. That begins with Omar and Andy making it their objective to legitimately return to physical football, Steelers style. They are tasked with getting back to what made this team the envy of the rest of the NFL teams.
Their goal of getting back to playing Bully Ball is sincere. In their first two years together, Omar and Andy rebuilt the OL with intelligent, high character, and blue chip level talent with nasty dispositions.
The hiring of Arthur Smith, whom loves to run the ball while sprinkling in play action passing, is a sign that real smash mouth football is back in the Burgh.

The top 4 were as good as they could have hoped. There were plenty of times i was wishing they would mive up to grab 2/4 of these guys. The most amazing part was that they stood still and didnt move up and still got the guys that even i loved. The only criticism i could make is adding the extra guard instead of grabbing a solid CB like TJ Tampa, and letting the rat birds get him. Otherwise, i am thrilled with the whole class.

    Hi DK,
Oh yes. Our Steeler Family are all just googlieyed over this, for real draft. It was about as perfect as it could be picking really good college athletes of good character that were at or near the top of their position group and without having to send any of our capital or monies. This draft season always helps fill the void of a non Lombardi year. 2024 draft and last few, if history is on our side may have been the building blocks into what is hoped to become our third Steeler dynasty. With the countless mock drafts and their justification storyline we continue to learn more about the players that filled the NCAA Headlines last season.
The only down side is the same as that of picking the DPOY! The term of the AFC NORTH spoken of other competitors in jest. Is disgustingly true about PFF.
    PFF SUCKS!!!!!
The live draft used to be fun and nostalgic as teal fans and players would call out our picks and we would see and hear it, just as if we were there in person. PFF and their bloated gloating talking heads obviously believe that the draft is only, and all, about them. Instead of us enjoying what we used to enjoy in the experience, time after time the PFF Mugs and their boring voices blocked out what we wanted to see and hear. These Inflated Air Talking Heads were constantly telling us, so and so just announced so and so to so and so while we were filling up our EGO TANKS.
WE need a feed next year where we can actually enjoy the draft festivities and eliminate the PFF and their Block Heads completely. Do you know what I mean? Please find us a solution for the future because I for one won't put up with them and their self gratification egos again next year. Just like we all know the real DPOY for all the recent years of true impact to the game.
Off my chest! I feel better and can get back to relishing in our newest building blocks joining our next Dynasty, the 3rd one!
    Thank you DK.

All the mock draft stuff, and all the speculating is over. Honestly, i hope we got the right guys to forge forward to competing with the elite in the nfl. Every need was met, and still would like to see a wide out added, via free agency or just the emergence of a young guy taking the next step. As fans we will never know what they know, but these seem to be real upgrades from what we had.

Well the Steelers pretty much got their starting 5 offensive lineman for the next 5-10 years. Still can’t believe that Colbert blatantly overlooked the line at the end of his tenure but late is better than never. Truth be told tho, minus Kenny, the last 3 classes have all had big contributors. George Pickens, Connor Heyward, (hopefully ca3 finds a more consistent feature) Jaylen Warren, Mark Robinson has done well in spots, Broderick Jones, Jpj, Keanu Benton, Nick Herbig with a few others who can possibly still turn a corner plus this class, that’s a lot of young talent infused into the roster.

with the previous GM we as fans never said "Colbert and Khan had a good draft" we only gave Colbert credit. I think it's somewhat disrespectful for fans to continue to say, "Khan and Weidl had a good draft" and giving the assistant credit. Don't get me wrong, I think its ok to identify the assistant GMs positive contributions every once and a while, but it seems in most conversations online, Weidl's name is mentioned in tandem with Khan.

Outstanding draft!! I couldn't stop smiling and laughing!! It definitely could not have gone better, in my humble opinion! Credit and thanks to those who studied the players, got to know them, and made sure those draft picks have what it takes to be Steelera! From what I have heard and read, they all have the heart and talent for being Steelers!! I have great hope for our Steelers!! 😊😊

Steelers Fans know the last time our Offense was Top 3 at worst we had 3 Pro Bowl Level & 2 All Pro Level Linemen (M. Pouncey & Dave DeCastro)

I think Hines Ward and others would've and should've put the lack of an ACL to rest obviously it's not needed you would think not having one is a bonus, no worries about blowing it out like so many great prospects have notibly Devon Bush

We never know if these guys will pan out, but, the direction and way Khan drafts has me excited for the future. He understands it starts with the trenches. Bully football.

IMO, AR2, Omar, Andy, Mike and the scouting staff absolutely crushed this draft and they did so without having to waste draft capital to accomplish their objectives.
Talk about getting big-bang-for-their-bucks, the Steelers got great overall value for their efforts in free agency and the draft.

    Got everything I wanted.
The onus is on Tomlin now. He better run the damn ball, or we're drafting at HIS position in 25'.

The last two drafts I'm predicting will have produced at least 6 pro bowlers barring injury. Peyton Wilson is Shazier 2.0. I absolutely loved the interviews from Fuatanu and Frazier. Great, grounded young men.

Got to see how these players pan out in the NFL.... I don't think we improved our QBs situation at all with the trades... seems the QB situation will be more of the same the same. I will admit they did a decent job at the draft, but everyone is a good NFL player at the NFL draft.

I thought that picking CB off the board was a pretty solid choice if no tackle were available. But honestly, the steelers were able to do this because that crazy QB run in 1-12.
