Agree about the tougher schedule later in the year than early. Tomlin’s teams usually don’t settle in until about game 7. I always hope for a 3-3 or better record to start the year then I know we have a chance.

Love Cam and what he has done for the team and the city. However, he’s been handsomely compensated for his efforts and players know they all have a “shelf life” which can vary per individual/position. I don’t think the Steelers should keep extending contracts of “past prime” vets unless they’re willing to take a pay cut or some other team friendly deal. It’s just the nature of the business and Cam knows that. Steelers are in the bad situation they’re currently in due, in part, from hanging onto Ben and his ageing Oline far too long for too much money. Teams shouldn’t pay top $ for past performance.
They need to get younger and cheaper on the defensive side of the ball so they can sign their best, young offensive players coming off rookie contracts and sign a premier WR who can play opposite of GP.

As far as the schedule goes, a lot of people are trying to be contrarians about it, but its clearly in the runnning for toughest schedule in NFL history. 12 games against playoff teams, 6 games against Superbowl front runners. Only 1 home game in the first 5 games of the season. Good news is this will put us in an excellent position to draft a high end qb in next years draft

  • @moreinterference

There's no way he's going to continue to be worth premium money in the years after this one even with a return to some better form. It's a tough call to make to let a guy like Cam go but at the end of the day every dollar you spend on an aging star is one less dollar you have to build for the future. I love the guy but if he wants to stick around he'll need to be realistic in negotiations.

I agree DK. We have seen how valuable Cam is even if he was not one hundred percent. We still need Cam and I don't think he would ask for a raise if he did not plan on playing. I am hoping a well structured contract would work well for both side's and at the same time the search for a back up to later be a replacement. I love Cam, but this is a sensitive subject. Time waits for no one. Thank you DK, Great show

  • @jamiedolan3173

I love Cam, he is a Pittsburgh Steelers legend. With that said, his age, and injury history does not make it make any sense for him to get a new contract , and make even more millions. At this point, he should play for a ring. Take a pay cut, and give the team more wiggle room to build. Build upon what is already a pretty stacked roster. I mean outside of our QB’s, we know what we have. He should really be playing for a ring. Millionaire’s crying about not making enough millions. Makes me sick, he just hasn’t made all those millions from the Steelers. His face is literally on so many billboards in the Burgh. All the money he’s made off of endorsements.

The question wasn't about the record. The question was about players safety ! But DK went on and on about what their record could be with this schedule! I find it ironic because DK preaches players safety when it comes to other issues but seems fine when physical division battles are scheduled on short weeks! I think it's ridiculous to schedule a road game IN Cleveland in 4 days after a physical battle with the Ravens..Might have a good record going into that last month of the season buy may not have enough healthy players left to even compete if they make the playoffs! But as I stated before, the question of the day wasn't about the wins and losses after short weeks, it was about players safety!

I'd LOVE to see the STEELERS have the 2 of them on their "auxiliary" squad-list--in line to be brought up into service...if need arose. I think BOTH still have exceptional something to contribute. Brady's what 46? And you can bet he'll get a call if a team is in the running and their QB goes down. I say...while Cam ain't Brady... he's what 10 years younger...and still "Cam"(most would disagree--but I think Cam STILL has juice)...and Brown? The excitement for him of being invited back in? After being in the cold so long? By someone like Coach Tomlin? He'd STILL give most D-Backs nightmares tryin' to cover him. No question.
