As someone who's worked a number of conventions as a volunteer, the hottest tip I have that isn't 'STAY HYDRATED' is to have different shoes for each day. Every pair has subtly different pressure patterns on your feet, so you'll get slightly longer before the previous day's pain re-emerges by cycling to different ones. It works with multiples of the same type of shoe, but you'll get better results swapping from hiking boots to sneakers to workout shoes or something like that.
8:10 that’s the approaching-30-years-old tell right there, along with the back pain due to weird/bad beds. In our early 20s we couldn’t care less what we would eat, and even less where we would sleep for this sort of event. Hell, I bet many would go for drinks in the evening, barely get 3 hours of sleep and wake up the next day with a brief, mild hangover, which would be absolutely gone by the second match, and have a blast. I wonder if the mean age of the attendees might necessitate changes in the event’s structure, have more emergency medical services available, non-slip flooring, handrails and stuff.
I took a 8 model guard list to a competition based around 3 Baneblade types :) soooooo much fun….especially when 1 blew up starting a chain reaction that ended up killing off 1 tank commander, sentinel & a tech priest :)

Glad you're doing a video on your 40k miniatures, keeps your content spicy and varied, especially for those of your audience that haven't seen the competitive tabletop side of Warhammer. Overall, this event sounded really fun, even despite the bad hotel. I thought it was really funny the way you described each match, especially against the Tau and Iron Hands players. I love how passionate everyone is with their armies and how creative you can get with your list-building and modeling. If I had to give your 'one-shotting a Stormsurge on turn 1' Chaos Lord a name, I'd name him: Huntmaster Ka-Vabrakan, in honor of the Night Lords' only known Leviathan Dreadnought, Vakuran.

mans shows up with 3 stormsurge pre codex i'm surprised anyone could even fight him out of the sheer amount of fear they must have felt from just his energy
The way I see playing competitive 40k, it's a cooperative game that's also a competitive game. You work with your opponent for a good time and try to ensure that intent is clearly stated across both parties, while also allowing being chill with your opponent, such as reminding them about the turn 3 reserves, if something happens out of phase (like 1 or 2 phases behind at most or something), and just generally being a good person to them even when dice mess up your plans. I know my dice messed up plans all weekend long at LVO, and ended up going 3-3 with my Admech (granted it was an antiquated list, but whatever), but I made sure to make every opponent have fun, even my game on Table 12 round 3, and every opponent of mine was happy about that. Great LVO, would go again. Also thanks for mentioning Ed, our Innit boy. That made me laugh so much when I was on the table next to you round 2.
I'd like to add on as well, LVO 2023 is going to be at the Rio again, which is a shame. They had a contract for a few years which included this year and last year after losing their Bally's contract. Hopefully it goes back to Bally's or another on strip hotel in the future, because being off strip sucked.
I work in a restaurant and some of us have to stand for hours on end. I'd recommend an anti fatigue mat. It won't prevent sore feet when standing for hours on end. It'll help ease the burdens on your legs. When you finish your matches I recommend some basic toe curls and toe arches to help strengthen your feet and reduce discomfort. Sit down somewhere, if possible, and place a ball on the floor, plant your foot on the ball not too hard and just roll it from your heel to your toes. I watched one of these tournaments and helped a friend of mine with her feet between matches. Managed to prevent her fasciitis from acting up during the tournament with this prep. Remember. Blood for the blood god. Skulls for the skulls throne.
I swear I've absolutely fallen in love with warhammer, and the more I hear about it the better it gets. I don't think I'll be able to afford to play the tabletop, so hopefully I can get my fix on this channel. Especially my sister's of battle fix, I love them the most.
Bro look into warhammer killteam. It's like a smaller condensed version of 40k where each person only uses a hand full of models. It keeps stuff really budget (especially custodes they only need 3 guys) if get your models second hand you can get into it stupid cheap, like less than 50$
Great advice! Glad you enjoyed your trip. Two thinks I would add: 1.) Things to bring: Super glue. You don't want to be running around asking for some if one of your models falls of its base or looses an Arm. 2.) "That guy": Don't be afraid to aks a Judge if there is a rules dispute. If you are polite about standing your ground, noone can argue with a clarification. Same goes for these annoying interruptions. If you have a feeling someone is trying to take time from your clock constantly, ask a Judge to observe. They have their ways of dealing with it.
There was this guy who was 0 for 5 on the last match. This guy had full on Gundam Marines. Zakus, a Deathsythe, couple Unicorns, this guy had army drip. Also I vaguely remember the xenomorph nids on a passing glance.
Really love your explanation of your battle rounds with the opponents. Very fun and informative. Hope to see more of your battle vids. Hoping to get into the game soon.
This sounds fun. I don’t actually play warhammer very much (I’ve got maybe 20 little models of tau dudes and chaos space marines that’s it) but I’ve been really interested in it and intrigued by it
Do you plan on doing any "battle report" videos where you record yourself and someone playing? I think your comedy and experience editing could make for the best battle reports out there!
You're still great, bud. You keep doing you, I'm loving your videos. I'd love a podcast with you and Baldermort, because you both know lore, but you LOVE the game.
I found out after my first tournament that I had attended a Major. WarZone ATL. My friend and I split the bill on a hotel room on site. We spent a bunch of money and we're both annihilated, mind body and soul afterwards. I went 1-4, he went 0-5. I personally I can't wait to attend my next.

Dear Bricky, I am new to the tabletop of WH40K and well I like alot of armies... too many to actually buy and play them all, would you be able to do a video on the play styles / factions and how they work for I can find a play style that fits me? because I'm abit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of info for a beginner . Thanks :)
I have no knowledge of WH game mechanics and listening to Bricky explaining the games made me finally understand for the first time in my life all of those show episodes and youtube parodies of made-up-on-the-spot card games "I use my great rollers to do a magic ricochet on your krong soul hyperstealers and with the remaining cammo coins I jolt the next three dice"
Honestly your account of the event makes me want to go to one. I kinda gave up a lot of excitement and hope for GW stuff a while back, and I'm still loathe to do anything with the company *but...* I would love to bring my army to one anyway.
Honestly i'd probably build an iron hands army like your last opponent, because i love that army. But when i started painting, i knew i wasn't going to be good enough to get them to look how i wanted, so instead i went with making my own chapter and paint job. Now, three boxes and one year of painting later, i'm so happy i did. I have a custom army i really like, with my own color scheme and name, and i'm working on naming my HQ's. I'm still not as good at painting as i'd like to be, but painting things how i wanted rather than trying to make them look how the army i chose looks, was a great way to get better for me.
Great tips Bricky. I haven’t tried the yoga mat yet but i’ll give it a shot. Also, if you don’t want to bring a cart a good alternative is a fast food tray that you totally didn’t steal or a breakfast in bed tray

I don't know why but that keeps ad was hilarious LOL
Hey Bricky, absolutely stellar video, really loved the pacing and story telling. All in all, fantastic videeo
Two thinks I would add:
1.) Things to bring: Super glue.
Okay Bricky, we know that Lorgar sucks and is also bald, but the most evil bald guy in Warhammer is clearly -Eresus- Erebus.
So glad I got to meet you there Bricky
I loved this video!! I love your warhammer content and you got me into the game!!! I’m glad your Night Lords did better than your we’re expecting!!
There was this guy who was 0 for 5 on the last match. This guy had full on Gundam Marines. Zakus, a Deathsythe, couple Unicorns, this guy had army drip. Also I vaguely remember the xenomorph nids on a passing glance.
I was hoping you’d make a video like this. One day I’d like to make the pilgrimage.
Really love your explanation of your battle rounds with the opponents. Very fun and informative. Hope to see more of your battle vids. Hoping to get into the game soon.
Video starts at 2:08
Thanks for the timestamp!
This isn't Bricky. This imposter has legs
This sounds fun. I don’t actually play warhammer very much (I’ve got maybe 20 little models of tau dudes and chaos space marines that’s it) but I’ve been really interested in it and intrigued by it
5:31 5:32 "Yes this is a terminalmontage reference"
You're welcome.
Do you plan on doing any "battle report" videos where you record yourself and someone playing? I think your comedy and experience editing could make for the best battle reports out there!
He's on a battle report channel called dicecheck, they've mainly done 40k videos and I think he's in one where it's a 4way fight

You're still great, bud. You keep doing you, I'm loving your videos. I'd love a podcast with you and Baldermort, because you both know lore, but you LOVE the game.
Oh Yeah! More 40k.
I love when Bricky makes videos about things he genuinely enjoys
I found out after my first tournament that I had attended a Major. WarZone ATL. My friend and I split the bill on a hotel room on site. We spent a bunch of money and we're both annihilated, mind body and soul afterwards. I went 1-4, he went 0-5.
I personally I can't wait to attend my next.
Also, if possible, try to use differrent pair of shoes for each day. Your tired feet that change the preasure of each shoe every day will appreciate it.
Appreciate the good sportsmanship and etiquette, bruv. We're playing with toy soldiers and are just here to have a good time.
Thanks :)
I think he did some on his "Bricky Ep 2" channel.
I kinda gave up a lot of excitement and hope for GW stuff a while back, and I'm still loathe to do anything with the company *but...*
I would love to bring my army to one anyway.
It was lovely watching you talk about your Night Lords from the Synthwave Dimension. Here's to a better hotel in the future.
That putin refrence didnt age well lmao
Thought the exact same thing lmfao
Honestly i'd probably build an iron hands army like your last opponent, because i love that army. But when i started painting, i knew i wasn't going to be good enough to get them to look how i wanted, so instead i went with making my own chapter and paint job. Now, three boxes and one year of painting later, i'm so happy i did. I have a custom army i really like, with my own color scheme and name, and i'm working on naming my HQ's. I'm still not as good at painting as i'd like to be, but painting things how i wanted rather than trying to make them look how the army i chose looks, was a great way to get better for me.
oof ww3 comment
7:25 that was something VERY personal, directed towards one of his opponents at the event xD
Great tips Bricky. I haven’t tried the yoga mat yet but i’ll give it a shot. Also, if you don’t want to bring a cart a good alternative is a fast food tray that you totally didn’t steal or a breakfast in bed tray
wow this sponsor is legendary Good job man. I love when content creators make these sponsorships interesting and not just a simple product promotion.
My school is actually hosting an event in Malaysia maybe the biggest in the country only drawback is I'm going to be staff.
this is a fantastic vid! Very informative! Ive recently just started looking getting back into this hobby which i started as a young lad but could not afford but now have the finances to get more into it. Tournaments was one of the parts of this hobby which was intimidating to myself and vids like these are a great help! keep this up bud! love the vids!
Also, if possible, try to use differrent pair of shoes for each day. Your tired feet that change the preasure of each shoe every day will appreciate it.
Few things bring me as much joy as seeing you listing your army
"Most villians in warhammer are bald"
Majorkill agrees with this statement
Loved hearing how this went, makes it sound less daunting. Great video!
how is it so interesting listening to him speak a different language half of the time. have no idea wtf warhammer is but glad you enjoy it so much
As someone who barely understands 40K through just the lore, I find it fascinating how rewatchable this video is for me when I literally don't understand jack all about the actual board game aspects you talk about. Great video.
if i remember correctly my cousin David Gaylard came second playing adeptus mechanicus and tyranids
