    So after seeing this video and a few others, I tried the hard reset and other things to no avail. However seeing as change is a huge issue and we always seem to have change in the agitator, I decided to take that off and look for change. Low and behold there were pennies and dimes in the drain channels! After fishing them out, which was the worst game in history. I had to tape the hole beside the one I worked on to ensure they wouldn't fly over to that hole. Put it back together and tested it, because it wouldn't even drain and spin, now I see why.
    Not sure if this might help someone else, but given these have a chute where the change blocks the water from draining I would suggest everyone clean this part of their washer. We've had ours for 4 years and I think the money I found had built up over time, or perhaps an unfortunate incident of someone not checking for change.

    here's what i found on mine...I checked the valve filters for debris, didn't find anything. put it in manual diagnostic mode and check both hot and cold valves, they both worked. I found the drain hose was too far in the drain causing a siphoning effect of the fresh tub water causing it not to fill timely. I now only leave it in there about 6 inches or so and recalibrated the washer. it has been fine ever since. it took me an embarrassing 2 years to figure this out. i hope this can help someone else.

    facing the machine, open the lid, the screws on the left and right are contact points for the switch. If "pins" on the left and right of the lid do not make good contact your washer may cut off. Make sure your lid is not dented or bent. If it is try to correct the dent or bend. If the screws on the left and right of the lid are loose tighten them. When the machine turns off try to "jiggle" or press the corners of the lid "gently" and see if the machine turns back on.

    • @bentleywilkerson9274

      @@dougfressh the screws are located on the lid itself. Inside of the lid, at the bottom, you will see the pins. On the exterior of the lid you will find the screws. The rubber stoppers are not on the lid, but are between the lid and the machine. Search the exterior of your lid, run your fingers around the perimeter of the lid and you should find the screws.

    I have the same washer. Based on the sound, I would say your shift actuator and/or splutch isn't working properly. When you start the load, it should spin both the basket and and wash plate together to sense the load in the first minute or two before it fills a little and switches to agitation. In your video it sounds like the basket isn't engaging and just the wash plate is spinning. Since you bypassed the lid switch, you can watch it and see if that's the case (again they should spin together for the first minute or two of filling). The splutch is the mechanism the engages the motor to the basket, and the shift actuator is what moves it. The shift actuator is also the RPM sensor, so if that's not working you will get lid lock faults (basket not spinning can also be the cause). I would try replacing your shift actuator, if it's still not engaging then change the splutch (they wear out after a few years), and then if it's still not working it could be the gear case, but that one is expensive enough you'd probably want to buy a new washer. I can help with diagnosis if needed.

    • @CriFinder
      @CriFinder 5 лет назад

      My washer won't spin. So I replaced the belt, the shift actuator and the splutch and the spinning still doesn't work. You think could be the gear case?

    • @rickeykeeton71
      @rickeykeeton71 4 года назад

      CRIfinder In my experience with some of the older models, some will agitate with a faulty lid switch but will not spin with a faulty lid switch. None are supposed to spin if the lid switch/lock assembly is faulty.
      Not sure about these, still trying to learn more about these electronic machines.

    Same washer. Easy fix. I didn't even have to fully extract the washer from it's awkward position in hall closet! My Whirlpool top load washer was stopping during the wash cycle, shutting itself off with WASH indicator light on. After searching RUclips for help I learned that there is a handy little book hidden from consumer under the bleach holder against the inside wall of the washer. It tells you how to run a test. This was helpful because the test told me machine was operating in all cycles and, thus, led me to look for another problem. But, I could have avoided doing the test procedure if I'd seen this sooner: The "Technician's Manual" tells technicians that there are only 3 error codes that the consumer can see. One of these is LED indicator lights up and stays lit. Good to know: These washers are are made to shut off if tub does not fill in 6 minutes. Slow water supply can happen with low water pressure or, in my case, with the supply obstructed. So, I shut off hot and cold water supply and removed hoses where they connect to washer (at the top back of machine). I used a mirror to look into them and discovered that the water intake screen/filters were clogged with calcification and debris. I pulled the machine away from the wall enough to remove water intake screens (filters) with a needle nose pliers and VOILA! Reconnected hoses. Turned water on and ran washer. It was pretty obvious that the problem had been obstructed water flow, because now I could really hear the tub filling. Washed clothing and machine ran beautifully through all cycles! There is probably something serious that could go wrong if you take repair into your own hands, so, do home repair at your own risk & don't forget to unplug power and shut off water before you proceed. Best of luck!

    You can blame the government for mandating HE washers.... The old style deep water washers were good for a 20 year life. These washers are new and are working the bugs out and are a overall better design than other brands of HE washers. This sounds like a problem with the hot water side of the valve... try using in cold rinse.
    If you want a long term dependable washer find a deep
    Water washer used in good condition. They last made them about 8 years ago. ... In my experience with these new HE washers the ones with the whirlpool with the dual action agitator is the best and also cheapest model.
    Samsung are ok but the company only makes repair parts for 3 years and are just as prone to these type problems

    Also check your cold and hot water hose is not blocked and water flowing through quickly. I had to unscrew the lid switch and tape it to the lock then I ran the water sensing and turned the water temp from cold to warm to hot. My cold water was barely dripping. But when I turned it to warm and hit it rushed out with water as normal. So basically my cold water valve was dirty and clogged up at the back with minerals. I always set to cold water wash So basically the problem Because barely any cold water came out the auto sensing wouldn’t go on to the next wash cycle phase because it didn’t fill up with enough water. Hope this helps someone

But if you hold the hose up it will begin to fill and sense and water won’t come out. That’s how I came to the conclusion of finding a hose extension and positioning it up then down into my drain if that makes more sense like my hose doesn’t just lay on the floor it’s in the air over a bar and then positioned down into the drain

It goes back to wash light which lights up. I also have matching dryer. It went out too about same time. The timer on dryer won't shut off when clothes are dried. I will NEVER buy a Whirlpool again.

    if you go to diagnostics on it, you probably have the same problem we did. The first two lights blink, then the “done” blinks. It’s too slow filling error. The valve needs to be replaced!! Sometimes hot water makes prts of the valve deteriorate and it doesn’t allow enough water out. Have it replaced then try to use cold as often as possible versus hot

    Have this same washer. After one year and 3 months i had this same issue. First i checked my hoses. That did not seem to be the issue. The first repairman hooked up a machine to it and it told him that the issue was the shift actuator, which tells it to start spinning. He told me this could happen if you wash heavy sheets or bedding, which i was when it started acting up. However, another repairman inspected it further and found that there was a large, expensive piece inside of the washing machine where the metal had bent (don't know the name of it) and that is why it started acting up. He replaced it and now we are back in business. I was slighly over a year so i did not have the warrenty on it still. However, when i called whirlpool, they were quick to send a free repairman my way anyways. Must be a common issue with this product type. I can only say that i miss the old reliable whirlpool.

  • @TheNYgolfer

    Well the lid switch wasn't "hot wired" properly because the lid lock light is not on. Besides that, even if you did hot wire it properly the machine checks for that by locking, unlocking and locking the lid , just in case someone decided to "hot wire" the switch.
    Running diagnostics is the best way to figure out what's going on. It's not foolproof but it's better than guessing.

Just putting it in the drain makes it run out water so it can’t fill to sense the load you have to position it up then into the drain and it works like new went through 3 washers to figure this out I promise mine had these EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. Mine is an older model, but does the same thing. Looking under the machine at bottom (unplug it, and turn off water and disconnect hoses to lay the machine on the side. You can see the drain hose connecting to the drain pump underneath. Guessing people figure something is wrong there. But... I can take my drain hose, lay it on the floor, let it drain into my sump pump, and hook drain hose up up again, select rinse and drain, then drain on floor again, drain and spin. To complete cycles, very annoying that it passes all tests, no error codes... but will not get past the wash cycle as it still has water in it until I do the above. I'm thinking the drain pump is to blame.
