I am picking mine up Monday 1st March. A comment on beginners bike. I’m 65 had over 25 bikes including three V-Max I find the very light weight and enough power suit me now. Has a huge spread of torque and very good spec for the money. I’m trading in my Bonneville 1200 which is actually 1bhp less and so heavy feels like a tank in comparison looking forward to it. Have added Triumph connectivity and heated grips. Your test was a good first ride test have subscribed see how you get on.
Beat you Stuart! I'm 65 and picked up my 34th bike a couple of months ago, a Honda CMX500 (don't laugh!). Knee joints and ankles not so good so after a lifetime of big cruisers and adventure bikes I have had to down size and get something physically smaller and lighter if I'm to continue riding. The CMX is so much FUN I can't believe it! Ride safe mate.
Hey Kate. Thanks for the review. At the beginning of the review you pushed the bike around a little which most other reviewers don’t. I think it is important to show and talk about how easy or difficult it is to move around with no power. Not all of us can flat foot and move the bike easily.
Its a smart looking little bike, I like the fact they have gone for the Triple Engine instead of the Parallel Twins as used in the T120 etc. (Nothing wrong with the Twin Engines by the way) Also coming on Michelin Road 5's from the Factory is a Winner, Superb Tyres in my opinion. I know that the Bike isn't really aimed at the Performance/Sports sector but a lot of fun can be had on a Middleweight, Lower Powered Bike and as you said it will be a user friendly Bike for someone wanting to return to Riding after a long Break. Great Review :)
It really is a beautiful bike. I have been looking for a long time at a Royal Enfield Continental GT or the revised Moto Guzzi V7. My first bike was a standard Kawasaki 750 back in the day. That bike could do everything. This new 660 seems so capable for a short trip across town or for going on a tour for the weekend. I know the boys at TEC are already looking seriously at the things they can do for this motorcycle. So I'm keen to see what type of touring accessories will be available in the near future. I'm not really an adventure bike rider and not really a hyper bike rider. I just really want a good standard motorcycle that can do everything like that Kawasaki of mine used to do. I think Triumph has nailed it with this bike. By the way, great review. I am now a subscriber. 😊😊😊🌹🌹🌹

Very nice overview. I don't know that I'd say it's as an entry level bike but more so an every day rider. For a suburban rider this is perfect. I loved my Speed Triple until I was habitually lifting the front wheel and driving 20 MPH over the speed limit. Having a welterweight triple is what fits my daily ride.

Nice review Kate. I was quite convinced on the MT07, but i reckon i'll give this a look in now. Love the sound of it. Like the upright riding position too. My mate gets neck ache on long rides with his MT07 (2018).
Thanks a lot for this video im new to the channel! Good work! I am 5’5’’ with just short of 30’’. I am looking to change my my ninja 400. Im a big fan of triumph and i found this trident might be the perfect first triumph for me! BR from Montreal ( cant wait for the snow to melt) and again thanks for the video !
Great review with this bike Kate, I’m always alittle concerned with Triumph reviews in the UK because you wonder if the reviewer has a bias towards them and just tells you it’s magic, yours was very honest though. It’s not my preferred style of bike tbh but I think it would be a great commuter and daily rider.
I can't wait to test ride the Trident soon. Too many people are comparing it to the Street Triple, the Street Triple isn't for everyone! I had a GSX S750, I'll compare it to that!
I think Triumph have got it spot on with this bike. Price, performance, looks and spec all go together to send it to the top of the middleweight naked class.
Anyone assuming that this is a bike for shorter people is very much mistaken. This is a very tall bike. I’m 5’7”, 32” inseam and I tippy toe mine. The suspension is extremely stiff even on the softest preload setting so it does not compress much when you sit on it. Do yourself a favor if you have one of these- change out the front sprocket to a 17-tooth. It makes 1st-4th gears more usable. It’s geared too low from the factory. Best $12 mod you can do to it.
OMG, Finally someone close to me height. Your one of the best RUclips vlogers. I will be your subscriber for life. Thank You and Bless You. I’m from NYC in the USA.
Enjoyed your review. Love the tripple engine. I think 80bhp would be enough for a lot of people ( me included ). It's all about being able to use the power available. Less is more, so to speak.
Are you going to have a go on the Honda CB 650 R?. Did you take the new RT 1250 TFT display vlog down? I was half way through it and then it seemed to disappear!?
I think the start of the video shows the difference between experienced and confident rider as apposed to a riders wife! I think on another vid of yours you state you were a bit nervous of a big bmw and your boss said (in other words) you’ve got this just get on and ride it. a bit of experience and confidence goes a long way. Keep up the good work, you show the good/bad points of each bike
Great video Kate, Great to see you Roding again 👍👍,very informative, what a lovely looking 🏍 Kate what camera have you got on the handlebars..?? I'd like yo get one.. Tk care keep safe and Healthy
First video of yours I've ever seen and you are now my new way of seeing if I can fit on a bike as we have the same measurements. Thank you 😂 Subscribed!
Great review thanks Kate. Also good to see how the foot placement is give I've got the same inseam as you, even though I'm 6 foot. I really like the look of it in white as well!
Stunner of a bike. You ride well shows how much this bike can pull and sound like. Bar end mirrors and very nice exhaust with a nice tail tidy will make this bike even more nicer looking .. great retro styled bike prefer it grey . Great video
Love the white version - funny most don't. A few mods and bits, and it's just about perfect imo. It's an all-rounder like the old-style UJMs - for me that's a plus, as is the under stressed motor; and I really like the look. For me (old guy, returning rider) 80 HP is plenty especially with the torque curve and broad spread of power. It also fits my budget. What's not to like? Well done video bc of your down to earth realistic approach. Cheers!
Great review Kate, I like that you mention your inseam measurement as that's more important than height. I'm 5'9" with a 27" inseam so I struggle even getting on a lot of modern bikes that seem to have got taller than bikes of my youth. Thanks for that as it's a big help when considering a bike and there mu0cd66be451st be plenty of short legged riders out there. 👍
It looked a bit tall for her TBO, I’ve got a 27” inside leg and my Triumph Street Twin is ideal for me as it’s got a really low seat height. Even I can put both feet down, I’d wouldn’t contemplate owning a bike where I couldn’t. Best regards.
Good video, one of the better reviews so far. No body has revealed the mpg for this bike would be nice rather than 0-60 for once. I have bought the Honda 650, since triumph moved production to Thailand I don’t see the need for brand loyalty anymore, just best bike for your bucks. Once again great vid.🙌👍
Want a bit of a blast on your commute? Come back down the A57 Manchester Rd, turn off for B5212 Holcroft Lane / Culcheth. Then get the B5207 to rejoin the A580 at Lane Head. It's a few miles out but worth doing on a nice day.
Nice review Kate I personally think triumph are on to a winner with this bike good for commuting with a 10k service interval and appeals to new riders as well
Great job on the review! More or less all-inclusive. You touched on everything. Very impressive. I bought this bike last week after watching yours and other's reviews. Thank you for your insights.
You are right about bikes that have hp that will never be used. 80hp is fine for the road. It's certainly enough to lose your licence if you get carried away.
Thanks for the review .. I’ll be getting one as soon as I get back to Thailand..it looks fantastic but was sold on it’s thinness .. perfect for lane filtering in busy-slow Thailand traffic!
Hi Kate, great looking bike and good vid and content and the view from the 360 camera was good and is anew one for you and look forward to the next vid
Thank you for always showing how you relate to the seat height by sitting on the bike. As a 30 inch 'inseamer' it's an important stat. Many thanks. Great videos by the way. 👍👍
looking to down grade from my Daytona 675, a bike i have ridden for 13 years, first as an '07 then as a '12. but i have much less stamina for the ride position the older i get, so am looking for something to get me to ride more often. i do really enjoy the 675's braking, handling, & cockpit /controls along with the short term comfort. so thanks for giving more information in my search, to include Speed Twin, SV 650 - had an SV1000s and loved that too.
As a biker for over fifty years I have to say that the trend (is it a trend yet?) towards smaller motorcycles is best for riders and the sport. Yep, when I rode bikes more as a fashion statement then a sport, I went through the bigger is better hubris. Thirty years ago there may have been merit in that . . . but now now.
Lovely looking bike in white especially, seems ideal for the new or returning rider or for someone who does a lot of commuting on busy roads. Nice review Kate many thanks.
the video quality/ production has improved no-end. Not everyone wants a big 1000/1200cc bike, (although the UK market seems to dictate that in particular UK buyers like the the big sports/adventure bikes) - middleweight is about where it is at for me. Good review as always
Agree with you on the white. First bike I thought as competitor was the SV650. Spot on there. Looks like it might be great for that everyday relaxed ride.
In New Zealand the Trident is only available in the reduced-power learners' configuration, and cannot be modified. And the Tiger 850 Sport is not available at all. So, bother.
I’m exactly the same hight and have the same inseem. So this vide is really best one i found on RUclips. Thanks a lot for the great work. I’m just hoping for side panniers to be available soon. I am thinking between this Triumph or the Honda CB 650R which has a beautiful engine sound. Cheers !
Ace first ride/look. I think it is a cracking bike from what I have seen from it so far, and a great price point too. I think a lot of road riders get too obsessed with BHP numbers, I have more fun on my 50bhp Moto Guzzi V7 on track than I have had on any sportsbike with over 100bhp, and on the road, none of use ever really spend any time at that max bhp point, so 80bhp makes more of the power useable on the road. The main thing with this that concerns me is the wet weather protection from the rear end in the rain.
I wish I could comment but I never rode it in rain *absolute shocker I know!* Totally get you. My sweet spot is 125bhp, that's my preference but you can still have so much fun on bikes with small hp figures for sure!!
@@UsernameKate Totally agree, I do miss my 765 on the sunny days, and my old K7 GSXR750 for that matter too... but I found myself in licence losing territory on them quite often :-)
I just bought the svartpilen 401 do mostly rural roads. It's more fun to ride a smaller cc bike fast than to ride a big cc bike slow. Loving this little bike. That statement there beginner bikes is misleading. Buy what fits your riding.
Wouldn't say its misleading as it is a cracking beginner bike, but like you say, it's also suitable for many circumstances. It's not just all about power nowadays, so this bike suits alot of different people 👍
I would compare it to the street twin as they would both be used for the same type of riding relaxed Sunday bimble to a biker cafe also how and where would you bolt luggage too?🤔
It looks like a very nice entry level bike. Triumph seems to make bikes that people would actually want to drive, and they also look sweet to boot. My first real road bike was a 675R Daytona and to me the only thing irritating about the ergos is the knee bend. I've noticed that the rearsets on this and the street triple seem to be as aggressive. Is there less knee bend on the Trident?
Very good & honest review Kate. Triumph have designed a really nice bike with the Trident. Hopefully your lockdown will ease sooner rather than later. Luckily here in Australia we seemingly have a good handle on the situation. Stay safe & cheers from “Down Under”! 👏🏼👍🏼😎🇦🇺
Great review, Kate. I enjoy to see it. What I see when I look at the bike. No main stand. Do a chain service without is an pain. No protection for the rear shock against Mudd from rear wheel. And the rear seat is an place where I do not want to be. From another perspective the bike have an nice and clear line on the rear end. And the trick with the plate holder with no fender looks good, when the weather is nice. Looks like the bike have not so much torque in lower rpms, means shifting often. How is the gearbox? Smooth like an Japanese one or bony like an old BMW? And by the way, who is you chef? I have to ask him for a day off for you. Like the idea from you to show us the beauty of the landscapes around. Maybee you can do this on a ride in spring or summer? Must see places for riders...like the video with KTM around a lake. What do you think?
Well the last time I rode a bike was 1981 I had a Kawasaki z1000st very good bike. I was 21 then , I’m now 62 and if I got back into bikes a 650 would be enough for me , I quiet like the royal Enfield 650 interceptor. Like your channel thanks.👍
Just to share my thoughts on height etc. On my ktm 790 duke I can just about flat foot it in my winter rst trousers. In summer in my kevlar jeans I can flat foot with a bend in the knee so it just shows how much difference riding gear can make. Keep up the good work kate
That's a very good point. I've got the 790 duke and in jeans it's a lot easier to get my feet down than in winter/wet gear. Btw, I had the lower comfort seat on, but it's wider, made getting my feet down harder, and took it off again. Fantastic bike though. 😁🏍️

Agree with you on the white. First bike I thought as competitor was the SV650. Spot on there. Looks like it might be great for that everyday relaxed ride.
I absolutely love the look of this bike. Very enjoyable upload as always 👍🏻
It’s really nice to see doing the review, it would be great if we get a mix group rides in summer to a meeting location
Another no bull review. Bang on Kate👍🏼
Theyve nailed it with this bike, going to sell loads.
Hi Kate, thanks for your video, it looks like new camera, so cool. Mark
In New Zealand the Trident is only available in the reduced-power learners' configuration, and cannot be modified. And the Tiger 850 Sport is not available at all. So, bother.
Thank you for posting. Good to see you ride without having to avoid bike stealers.
I’m exactly the same hight and have the same inseem. So this vide is really best one i found on RUclips.
Thanks a lot for the great work. I’m just hoping for side panniers to be available soon.
I am thinking between this Triumph or the Honda CB 650R which has a beautiful engine sound.
Cheers !
Great review Kate, bike looks fantastic in white, triumph are definitely onto a winner with this bike.
Good intro to the bike Kate. I wonder what it rides like compared to an MT07.. it looks great.
Such a beautiful looking little bike, love it in black with the larger, silver Triumph logo. Great review!
You mean white logo?
A great level of technical information. Sufficient to give potential buyers a real feel for the bike
Thanks Nigel! Always appreciate you're comments, you're an OG 👍
Triumph have nailed it. Great vid.
Following since we're (sadly) of the same height! I'll definitely use your bike reviews for future bike decisions!
Great review Kate. Wish I could get down to the bloody pub to do some Willy waving! 😂👍
It's not just all about power nowadays, so this bike suits alot of different people 👍
Sure maybe beginner friendly is a way I like to put it. Great review by the way.
I would compare it to the street twin as they would both be used for the same type of riding relaxed Sunday bimble to a biker cafe also how and where would you bolt luggage too?🤔
Yes, that’s true but the street twin sounds better.
Good call comparing the Trident to theXSR. The Trident wins on looks
Great bike. Was a tough decision between this and the t100. I went with the t100. Hard to beat.
Nice review, Kate! Glad they had a white one for you. Looks sharp!
@@rossm9676 yes I love my bike I'm 6ft and 18 stone so my weight helps lower the suspension 😂
Finally, a review on roads I'm familiar with! :D Some good riding around there and not too far away from the Cat and Fiddle!
Kate, I could never get bored listening to your voice. Nice bike, and great review.
Sound thirsty af😂😂
@@Tybward Calm down

@@Nahh-m3m 😁😁
Looks a nice bike Kate, looking to get my hands on one soon. 👍
