This is most definitely a happy landing! What a spectacular view of New York harbor, Manhattan, midtown Manhattan, upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Riverdale, orchard Beach in the Bronx, throgs neck in the Bronx and then of course the final landing at LaGuardia Airport in Queens. Great footage!

Often wondered where the actual Pelham Bay was. Took a tour of the Bartow-Pell mansion and during that tour the tour guide explained that Pelham Bay was filled in to create Orchard Beach and its parking lot (and most of that track of land around them). Great shot of what was Pelham Bay from 05:17 - 05:37.

You can see the one before flying out. This Runway 22 is the best landing when the weather is clear with The Hudson Visual. I've never seen planes line up on the point like that. Usually, this landing has them for takeoff on 13 going East, or 31 going West.

I flew out of LGA as a 757 captain for United 2000 to 2015. When visual approaches were being flown to Runway 22, and if you were arriving from the west, the standard clearance was direct to the Verazano Bridge, direct to the Statue of Liberty, and up the Hudson River which is what I believe these pilots are flying. The actual ATC clearance would be, for example, "United 723, direct Verazano, direct to the statue and up the Hudson." I always wondered how pilots who were not based in New York would know which bridge the Verazano was, and where was the statue the controller was talking about was, but somehow, everyone just knew what to do. Amazing! The same thing when flying the Expressway Visual to Runway 31. You would be cleared to the Maspeth tanks (2 big, white gas tanks in Brooklyn) then follow the Bronx Queens Expressway to Citi Field, make a huge left turn to line up with Runway 31.. Over the tanks, there were I believe 3 different highways that you could follow, but only one was the BQE. Again, how did pilots not familiar with the NYC area know which one was the BQE? But nobody ever got it wrong.

Last year in august I spent the majority of my landing looking for my school from above Manhattan. In Chelsey 23rd st. Since my schools has a nice red roof its easy to spot. I had fun looking at the place I’ve lived in all my life from a different view. Then quickly locating the area I live in just by spotting the Bronx Zoo. (its about and hour from where I live by foot)
