This is also one of the many reasons so many people have stopped going to church. Already dealing with the egos of the church's leadership, and now a singer has the nerve to stifle the congregation by asking them not to sing during Praise & Worship!!! KB is too prideful to even be ashamed of herself for making such a request. These behaviors are making the church unwelcoming, petty, and toxic as well. Why didn't the pastor correct her?

Kim, we ALL know you have a beautiful voice. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. If you don’t want anyone to sing 🎤 with you, you should be in a recording studio, the home shower or in your car alone. Once you get on stage with the public in the audience, they will want to sing. Singing heals broken souls and uplifts people. We don’t know what that lady was going through. You had the Mike so your voice was going to be louder than hers. You know God likes us to pick our battles. You should have passed on that one.

@@katiedixon9316 when I was going through a hard time years ago, I would still go to church. I would go with a heavy heart but the choir was outstanding and I would leave with joy in my soul. So as the grandmas like to say, “I’m not telling you what I read, I’m telling you what I know”.

TS Madison is correct. Kim Burrell has been mean and nasty for decades. I am not mad at Kim. I am disappointed at the Black church for not holding Burrell accountable for such ungodly behavior. The Black church historically has chosen gifts over integrity and character. This is why Pastors can beat their wives and sleep with parishioners and get away with it. We have lost our fear and reverence for Christ and instead of worshipping Christ, we are worshipping gifts and talents. This is why Kim Burrell continues to show us who she is and the church doesn't believe it.
