I came by to watch Ruby again. Love this interview so much. She is such an inspiration. Love hearing about her life. Loved hearing her sing about our Lord!. Blessings to you.
Please find time to sit with her and record her story. From the very beginning until now. Every time an elder dies, a library burns to the ground. You are very, VERY lucky to still have her - and her mind is razor sharp. Such a gift!!! May God bless and keep her for a couple more decades.
I am doing a project for my anthropology class about this interview! My dad showed this one to me a couple years ago and as soon as I was assigned the project I knew I immediately wanted it to be about Ruby :)
At the time of this interview, this 87 year old lady was still driving a semi truck. I don't think many people have caught she's a truck driver along with supporting rental properties and her own farm. She's put generations of her family through school while living in one of the most impoverished areas of the US. She's a perfect example of not lying down and letting the world beat you down.
I'm ust wondering: What makes you not "think many people have caught..." what you were able to catch, from watching the exact same interview, of this good natured, industrious Christian woman?
“I live it just like I want to. If you don’t, you’ve wasted the whole thing.” Wow, I was not expecting her to play the guitar and sing so fast and loud! Awesome lady.
Ms. Ruby has helped so so so many people, she’s kept a many of kids from starving to death. I have known Ms.Ruby for quite a while and I swear she has wings because she is a angel !!!

2 quotes from her "I don't fool with nothing that cause me to have regrets." & "If someone gets in my way I just go around them." She's the true definition of a Matriarch. It would be an honor to meet her 💞
I’m from a neighboring county and my own grandmother had this same spirit and lived to be 97! She had the same values and lived “off the land” that she was born and raised. I attribute much of my common sense, values and knowledge to her. I see so much of my love for eastern Kentucky in this interview! She’s a jewel and obviously a blessing to many!
This woman is the definition of a badass. Forget all the celebrities talking nonsense without experiencing shit. This lady right here is an example of strength and perseverance for every young girl (and boy) out there.
Yup can u imagine if Kylie Jenner or the rest of them right taking a bath in the river Or raise and buttering their own food ! They would be the first people that wouldn’t survive if the world went to shit They have no life skills
You really have to admire a woman so single minded as Ruby, there is nothing shallow or superficial about her ...God bless her with a long life to live to be that 104 years as her ancestors lived.
As someone who lives in the Appalachian area, I can say that 90% of our old Appalachian women are like this. They really are a treasure and I don't think many people appreciate them.
She's great! I love her optimism and her no-nonsense attitude! Rather than complain about the struggles of life, she's looking at the blessings and thanking and praising God for them.
That’s a shame they aren’t appreciated, that’s sad! Appalachian history and culture are so original and extreme in some ways. I’m from Australia and love learning about anything Appalachian!
Holly Hunter was at my wife's family reunion while preparing for her role in the movie Harlan County War. She was living with Ruby at the time, learning the dialect. Ruby is a wonderful lady; she loves everyone that she meets.
About 500 acres, 5 generations, still helping send great grandkids to school by paying tuitions, grows/harvest, canning, beans stocks, can hear well, eyesight still good, no joint problems, still driving...oh man! 87 y.o. and still active more than the teenagers nowadays. Love love love stories like this.
IKR?? I wish the teenagers of today could go spend a week with people like her and find out what living is like!! I feel so sorry for the kids today...
As a rural Kentuckian, I'm happy to see people being respectful and saying sweet things about this woman. Appalachia & the South are often mocked, stereotyped and ridiculed by people around the world so it's wholesome to see so many different people sharing their kind words.
Agree 100%. I grew up in Appalachia and moved to cities after. I learned quickly that people mock, look down upon, and make fun of Applachian people. I'm glad this channel brings to light that some of these people are living happier, more wholesome lives than those who degrade them. This makes my soul happy!
I hear that but often people attack what they don't understand or what they fear.Im fortunate that my parents taught me many moons ago to respect people that deserve respect, this woman has achieved more with her life than 5 generations of other families have and that is truly something to revere
@@lisaquigley-moon9583 everywhere, growing up pre-wokeism, was better. Wtf you taking about. Are you a genXer? Gtfo. Go live with parents again and learn respect.
I love Ruby! Her mind is sharp, she’s strong and healthy, proof that raising and growing your own food and breathing mountain air is the best medicine. God bless her and her family. ❤
I loved growing up in the Appalachian mountains. It's a hard life, but it'll keep you strong and healthy. The community bonds run very deep and they stay strong. I could go back there today and probably everyone would remember me from 30 years ago, and they'd remember the names of every one of my babies. I still remember all of them, too. It's a life that's built on strong bonds and kinsmanship. If your neighbor needed food, you gave it. If they needed fire wood or coal, you went around collecting it for them, especially if they were elderly bc those are our living ancestors. Everything we will build in our lives will be built upon their sacrifices for us, so they will always get our respect and consideration first. It's a very different value system than most people have today.
Being born and raised in Harlan County Kentucky I can tell you Miss Ruby is the norm of the type of older women here. I’m thankful to you for showing the “real” Appalachia! We’re definitely not all dumb backwoods inbreds like a lot of Hollywood likes to make us out to be. This is the norm here…not the usual stereotype. We may talk differently and live more simple lives, but we are a strong , god fearing, family oriented people. I’m proud to be from Appalachia ❤️
Years ago I fell in love with a girl from Kentucky whose grandfather was a WW2 hero, her whole family were smart and educated ( some educators). People look down on them because of the accent , it’s dumb. They were smart , sweet people. Didn’t work out between us , but she opened my eyes.
I grew up in Whitetop, VA but moved to North Carolina at 18…….I am extremely proud of where I’m from, I speak a very country accent and I get made fun of all the time and I just laugh it off……ppl just don’t understand what’s it’s like to grew up where there were farms and my Mom raised gardens that were so big, she canned and we had good ole’ sausage and we could make the best gravy around with it, green beans (pink tip, if anyone has heard of them, but they make the best beans), jellies and jams and pumpkin pies with homemade pie crust, my granny and my Mom were both terrific cooks…….we called biscuits “catheads”……I have no idea how that came about but I’ve heard it all of my life. My granny taught my Mom so much and Mom done her best to teach it to my sisters and I, I remember granny and Mom saying things like “if you don’t listen you will feel” “a stitch in time saves nine”……haha I remember my granny called kids that weren’t minding hulick (probably way off on the spelling lol) she also said Hethrin (probably spelled wrong too lol…..I didn’t say I could spell em just that I heard them growing up) so many words I heard my granny say, granny didn’t care to whip ya butt when you were bad and my parents done the same and I appreciate every whipping I got and probably needed more lol…….kids nowadays need a good butt whipping every once in a while and they wouldn’t be spoiled brats lol……oh I’m off on a tangent lol, just wanted to say I love this little Ruby, she’s a blessing✝️🎚️😇
@@LukeC__Biggest_Fan_MelBthatsME the sweetest winds blow through the south. Was raised in Bridgeport, Ala then Macon, Ga/Savannah, Ga. She’s definitely a treasure. Best musicians are from Kentucky with Chris Knight, Tyler Childers, Sturgill. Just nasty bluegrass players.
I love this woman. She’s salt of the earth, and her smile is *glorious.* She sent her kids to college, plays guitar, and she has a spirit that’s irrepressible. She’s *amazing.* When I grow up I want to be this interesting. (I’m 51)

She made my whole day! People judge this community so harshly, but every time I watch the old folks talk…I realized I missed out on so much. Bless her sweet soul. I wish her continued good health & prosperity!❤
No one thinks that Kentucky is only full of ignorant incestuous folks. It’s just more common in the backwoods areas , and that’s facts. Literally no one thinks that it’s all of you
Ky represent! Proud to live here even though I wasn't born here. Appalachia is beautiful, but I'll stay in central KY over Eastern, but that's just me.
Ruby was my grandmother through marriage for years ◡̈ She is such an inspiration and an amazing woman. I remember building a deck at one of her houses at 10 years old and chasing hogs and goats around 😂! So glad I’ve found this interview! It brings back so many good memories
@@mombradshaw5528 I live in Russel Co Va. I love Ruby. She reminds me of my mamaw , I do love these mountains and my roots , Ruby is the poster image of a true salt of the earth woman
If your eyes were dry when she was singing, I'm not sure you have a soul. She has that beautiful old timey voice I'm familiar with. And wow, the passion she played and sang with!! You go girl! 💓. My favorite line was "you get in my way I go around you and just keep goin'. ". She's something.
@@Thefearmongrels obviously don't know any more then what we have found here. That's why I'm interested in a film so I can know more. No need to be a jerk
I apologize if I came off as a jerk, but Ruby has many faults. She once emptied her pistol at me because she mistakenly thought I was shooting her pigs. She has started many problems with the locals. I however still like her and get along with her quite well. Most of the interview is false. She is not very honest. Sorry if I came off rude.
Ruby reminds me of my grandma. My grandma was an Oakie, married my grandpa at the age of 15 and popped out 11 kids. She passed away in the early 2000's at the age of 86. Loved listening to her!
Considering the absolutely staggering amount of quality interviews and content on this channel - what I'm about to say carries some serious weight. This was honestly one of the best, and quite possibly THE best, interview that I have ever seen on SWU. This woman is the epitome of the soul in Appalachia. This woman is true American grit, through and through. Thank you for sharing your stories and your life with us, Ruby. You are a wonderful woman, and it was an honor as well as a pleasure getting to know you.
I agree. In a lot of ways she reminded me of my grandmother who lived to be 96. She had 10 siblings and every one of them lived to be in their late 80s or early 90s. Her dad lived to be 99. Strong people. My dad only made it to 70 (he had cancer) but his sister lived to be 88.
I grew up in eastern mountains Perry Hazard Kentucky an Breathitt Jackson Kentucky I still say this plus I say like making homemade soup I say I put everthing in my soup but the dishrag lol.
I LOVE her. She is from a generation that is the backbone of this country. Tough as nails ,hardworking, happy and satisfied with life. Many could learn from her.
So many one liners... “Amazing Grace... just tides me over, and my jello”. 😂 “as limber as a dishrag..”. A simple life is a beautiful one. I love this woman.
I come from a family of film makers and this is just about the most beautiful documentary I have ever seen. Ruby must have been a neck-snapping stunner in her day. Still absolutely gorgeous. The interview pulled on all of my heart strings in the best way. Thank you!
I left Appalachia for nearly 20 years. I was 17 and couldn’t wait to get out and live in the city. Every year I was away, the ache to return got stronger and stronger. There’s a reason my family has lived in this same county for more than 200 years. When I came back, it was like I was whole again. I live right up the road from Ruby in a neighboring county and I can’t see myself anywhere else. She is so much like my grandparents and the rest of my family, and I loved getting to listen to her wonderful stories. Thank you for this video.
I am fascinated by Appalachian folks and the livelihoods there. You are lucky to have grown up there. As for myself, I grew up in WA State and I am having a hard time leaving this place(I think about moving every year to a sunnier place like FL, lol). WA will always be home to me. We all are a product of our environment.
I understand why you interview a lot of the hard cases in the world but it was really nice to see somebody that didn’t get molested or wasn’t on drugs and made the best out of life and had a good outlook on life. Thank you for doing this interview!
I agree with the sentiment, but just a reminder not to assume the details of her life just because she didn't choose to share them. I certainly hope her life was a pleasant as she recounted.
@@alireid5874 She never tried to say that her life did not have problems, she just chose to face them head on and have a good attitude about it. She had problems just like everyone does, and she shared them, she just "took it on" and conquered them. She answered all his questions in an intelligent straight forward manner. Having a pleasant life does not mean it lacks problems, you just move through them and that is what she has done. God bless her for it! She sets a great example for everyone.
@@deepsouth3319 many people of the older generation didn't share about the abuse or trauma that they experienced, because they were trained not to. That doesn't mean that it didn't happen, though I'm not projecting that on her. I am saying that when people celebrate people who only say positive things, it discourages people from speaking their truth, and discussing the difficult things that they experienced.
@@alireid5874 This particular RUclips site is called "Soft White Underbelly" it is "Ripe" with all kinds of horror stories and some from older people. It would do you good to watch this interview again and try applying some of her philosophy to your own life.
This woman should be a National Treasure. The guy asked her what the best part of her life was and she looked at him with a cheeky grin and told him ALL her life was the best part. Awesome.
About half way through the 11th minute she just started blowing my mind to pieces. “I live my life the way I want it, if you don’t do that you’ve wasted the whole thing.” “You’re not living your life if your doing what other people tell you to do, I’ve never let no one get in my way.” This woman is incredible.
Between the Blue Ridge mtns and my eastern band of Cherokee, i can vouch that THIS is exactly what 2020 taught me. Outspoken but introverted, tell the truth & learn somethin' long the way. Lost both my grandparents within 6 weeks of each other. Together almost 60 years. A true blessing to this generation contributing to raise me/mine. Spiritual and church is two different things and with a hs education, i can work circles around my grown kids and todays generation. Humans have just plain ol lazy. If everyone just minded their business, we'd be in alot better shape
Side note, my father in law had the EXACT same accident. Cut a true and crack his skull wide open. So hard it knocked him off of a tractor. He survived but it was insane. City folk dont understand that the air is different, the land is different, the feel is different and the people are different. Although in another state, we also dont take out huge loans in descend in debt. Those antiques, are currently still used here in sw Va.
She's leaving her property to her kids (all 5 generations, etc.) but she's going to make sure that they, "can't sell it or mortgage it" SMART woman! This is generational wealth! Also, I love that she took her teeth out to sing!

From the coal mines of Kentucky, through the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, down through the Cumberland Plateau, and delta of Memphis and Mississippi. This amazing woman represents how rural southerners have lived and spoken in these hills, hollers, and bottoms for hundreds of years.
She's absolutely spot on about her health being directly related to her diet. She eats zero processed food. She's eighty-seven and she is as nimble and her brain is healthier than many forty-year-olds I know.
This lady reminds me of my grandmother. She was born 1921. Shes passed now. She grew her food in gardens her whole life and until my grandpa passed they slaughtered cattle for meat and milked them for milk.. slaughtered hogs. They grew tabacco too. She was so old fashioned never wore pants unless she was working in the garden or with the animals. Went to church every Wednesday and Sunday. I use to love her stories and voice. Helped her break beans and can everything you can think of. She was in rural Tenneessee.. where I live now. She split her land between her 5 kids. Her name was Ruby too! This woman is amazing. I love this video so much! ❤God bless her. She's so sweet.❤
My Great-Grandma died in January 1995 at 100. She grew her own food, too. She still had smooth skin & clear blue eyes. They don't build them like this woman or my Grandma anymore. I so wish I could live like they did.
This is by far my favorite video you ever posted. God is with and has Blessed Ms. Ruby. May HE continue to keep her in HIS hands, in HIS grace and favor. ❤
My grandma is her age, still lives on the farm by herself. She does everything for herself and the doctors say she’ll make it to 100. It goes to show what keeping busy does for your longevity and health. Our running joke is she’s too mean to die, but we all know that it’s her keeping busy that has kept her going the way she has.
My grandfather always told me, he had seen tons of guys who didn't pick up a hobby or have anything to do in retirement. Those who didn't would die in 6 months or a few years. He said you HAVE TO have something to do, or you'll die young.
I’m a blind person and I always comment when someone makes this observation. Because I have to use accessible technology to read posts, and have to swipe the screen, I often hit the dislike button. When I do, it’s very hard for me to find it and fix it. There are also people who have issues with their hands who are also having this issue. So please don’t assume that everyone who hits the “dislike” button is mean or a “hater”. There is a large population of disabled people who use technology that requires us to swipe or tap the screen in the area of the dislike button in order to have the comments read to us. My apologies for it. Please understand that as blind people, we have to work hard to stay connected and to have a voice in the world. We mean no disrespect.
I'm truly at a loss for words and that doesn't happen often. I read all the comments and I feel exactly the way everyone does. I just want to hug her and tell her how much I admire her. Such a simple kind yet eloquent and graceful soul. I hope her family down the generations know what a gem she is.. I have never seen any of your interviews before , but will definitely look for more. This is an incredible lady. She is smarter than 95% of the people on earth. She is so greatful for everything she has. She has worked hard everyday shes been alive. This country use to be full of people like this lady and thats why America became so great. People could learn so much from her.
Then there are leaches like Biden who never worked a real job outside government.... and has tried to cheat himself into the presidency. Total disgrace! No morals. No conscience. Only wants to take from the American people.
This woman is the perfect example of a life well lived. She cares for herself and her family. She passes on generational wealth. She even cared for her uncle.
Ruby put her heart and soul into that Amazing Grace song! All of America should be listening to her for a visit and realize just what simple life is and what to hold of value in this world! You could take the words to the song she sang and use her name in the lyrics.
This might be the best thing I’ve seen on here in a long time. What an absolutely fascinating woman. I bet I could listen to her for hours and not get bored.
I'm a city girl turned small town but when this interview was done, me at 57 years old, wanted to go stay with Ruby for a week or so and learn some things! What a wonderful woman!
She reminds me so much of my grandma, who was a traditional kurdish woman from the mountains, nature was holy to her, she had her farm, never went to school, had no electricity at home, raised 7 kids, never went to a doctor, made all her kids go to university and made it to 102 years. It’s beautiful to see how people from geographically completely different places and cultures might have more in common than we know. I would like to see the Appalachian Mountains on my next trip to the US...hopefully I’ll make it to Miami afterwards 🤣

Ruby's accent is EXACTLY like my mom's. When she said "I just love those little children," I felt like she was sitting here in this room with me. Mom was born in 1932 in rural Tennessee and passed away in February. I miss her so much and Ruby brought her right back to me 💔

❤️🙏❤️ Bless your Grandmother and I'm glad she lived a wonderful life 103 wow that's great, even though I'm sure she was getting tired. But now she's with the Angels and keeping things together up in Heaven.. what a blessing .
My granny lived in Manchester, Ky and she lived the same way. She was putting new tin on her roof in her eighties. Unbelievably she only lived to be 91.
She sounds just like my momma and my grandma from West virginia!" My momma had that southern drawl. I miss her so much!" She was Scott Irish and Cherokee. I am one of 18 children of my mother. I have 7 brothers and 10 sister's. I grew up just like this lady. I wouldn't change a thing.
She knows everything about being self sufficient. She would be a great teacher to the younger generation about fending for yourself and being independant. Ruby is a walking history book that people should respect and pay attention to!

Right? I 100% agree, she is confident without knowing there was anything else to be but confident.

And the young girls are all tattooed and drugged up by 15. Let's see what the future holds.
I appreciate them. This is so wonderful to see this video.
These old women are a national treasure. Good someone is saving their knowledge & stories.
She's great! I love her optimism and her no-nonsense attitude! Rather than complain about the struggles of life, she's looking at the blessings and thanking and praising God for them.
I APPRECIATE HER. STRONG. RESILIENT. INCREDIBLE!! KNOWS WHAT IS VALUABLE.
That’s a shame they aren’t appreciated, that’s sad! Appalachian history and culture are so original and extreme in some ways.

Anyone that criticizes mountain folk should take this lady as an example. She is hard working, and its graced her with amazing longevity.
I am absolutely fascinated with appalachian life and culture.

Wow and I’ve tried hard in college and education and can’t get a man
@@marylougeorge9890 I totally had forgot she paid the four thousand. I know I wished to get around like her.
I started growing and putting up my own food when my husband was trying to get on the list for a transplant. Ruby is right. my health has never been better. Saved my husbands life.
Ruby's accent is EXACTLY like my mom's. When she said "I just love those little children," I felt like she was sitting here in this room with me. Mom was born in 1932 in rural Tennessee and passed away in February. I miss her so much and Ruby brought her right back to me 💔
Blessings to you, it’s so hard to loose your Mom! Remember she’s physically gone but her spirit is with you every minute of everyday! She’ll hear you ❤️
I'm sorry for your loss!
She's still in your heart, always will be. You ain't gotta miss her, because you can visit with her anytime you want.
I’m sorry
amen and God bless
Losing a baby is a soul changing thing. I was so touched when she said she had 5 children but when she was saying what job her children did she named 2 jobs said one was killed at 18 she lost 2 as babies at birth. Later she said about regrets it’s sad when u lose a baby or something and don’t get to know them. 😭even at her age u see the hurt when she’s talking about her babies. I lost one baby and it’s been a long time ago 19 years I still remember and grieve. This is a incredible women bless her and her family she’s got great genetics 🧬 I truly enjoyed her spirt what a beautiful lady
Didn't you love that? It told the secret of a mother's heart when her mouth said she had 3 children, but her hand said 5. Those 2 she lost at birth are in her heart.
My mom lost a baby girl when she was 1 year old. My mom thought of her often even though 60 years had passed. You never forget those babies.
“I’m just as limber as a dish rag..” 💕 this has been my FAVORITE INTERVIEW BY FAR! (He said “ & just as cute as can be..” I AGREE!)
“I never let anyone get in my way. They get in my way, I go around them.”
Yes Ms. Ruby. Yes.
❤
Yes indeed. Made me smile. What positive woman.
She is amazing :)
“And on I’ll go...”
I could listen to her talk for hours! What I wouldn't give to have a cup of tea with this lady! What a life she has lived.
Bless her heart.
These Appalachian interviews are absolutely amazing. This woman is the best looking 87 year old I've ever seen! Smart as a whip. Incredible woman. Love these!!!
"My family usually lives to be 104 or five" - wow!! One of the best and most positive interviews! You can see by her eyes how strong and inteligent she is. Reminded me how I should be grateful for simple things life gave me!
I love how casually she mentioned that too! Yeah no big deal, usually we live past 100.
It's been a real shitty year for a lot of people and anyone feeling the strain just needs to watch this.
Ruby's a walking, talking cure for anybody on a downer. Amazing woman.
Amen!
Absolutely.
it's been 10 min and i'm still dazed. she's inspirational. i will look at life differently. thank you Ruby
My grandmother grew up where this lady did. She lived to be 103 years old and passed three years ago. I know she had a rough life. She worked hard until she was in her early 90’s. She was a wonderful lady!
@@irishladyjewelie ❤️
...my graother crooked her lady dinner the same day she died, she as the good lord to take her while on her feet. She was 92.
God Bless you, beautiful big family. I'm the baby of 8, I'm 54 now, big family🌸🌸🌸
God Bless
America has such a Wonderful History--women like this Made this Country Great..
What was it like sharing a bathroom?
Omg her singing at the end just took it to a whole ‘nother level I was not expecting!!! 👏 so so good! this woman is such a pure amazing soul 💗
Had me crying!!
For sure!! Sweet ruby's SANGIN brought me to the most joyful of tears. Straight church! Ruby is amazing!
I'm crying too 😭
Awwwww
Lol
She knows everything about being self sufficient. She would be a great teacher to the younger generation about fending for yourself and being independant. Ruby is a walking history book that people should respect and pay attention to!
The best interview ever. They're all fascinating, but this one is 100% positive and refreshing. She's incredible.
Yes sir
Words outta my mouth
This women puts a smile on my face, and not many people can do that for me..
likewise... hard to find joy these days and this woman certainly did me in
Same here
Amen,Amen,Amen, God bless you.💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
Ditto!
Same here
I sat here absolutely mesmerized by her with a smile on my face. Not too many ppl can do that.
This Women is a National Treasure. I don't know what else to say but I have nothing but the utmost respect for her.
I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much! What a sweet soul!
So glad you asked her to sing, "Amazing Grace!" Love her version. Powerful rather than sad. "How's that!" Wonderful Ruby!
I didnt understand why she took out her teeth to sing....until she started WAILING!!! ❤️
People like Ruby are the true wealth of America.
And they're mostly all Trump Supporters down there.
Amen♥️
I would add the "true health" of America. They don't need no Medicare4All down there. Just hard work and healthy food. No bacon or cheeseburger, just huckleberry and apple.
@@313-v9k idk why your making it political but since you are.. I’m actually from them area. I moved to Salt Lake City sometime ago but not everyone in my hometown are trump supporters. There are assholes but not all of us are like that.
@@littlejoe2595 Not everyone thinks like that there. Trust me. As in my other reply, there are trump supporting ass holes but not all of us think like that
I felt Mark's smile during this entire interview.
Mrs. Ruby you are one in ten billion. I had an accident and I am paralyzed from the waist down. I have been feeling a little down lately. This was the video I needed to see right now. Your rendition of Amazing Grace swept me away and gave me some hope, In your interview you said that you hoped maybe one person would see this and it would make a difference in their lives. Well I see from the previous comments that you have had a HUGE impact on the world and I am one of those voices. I imagine you might be Order of the Evening Star. however, I agree that getting involved in building a strong family and community is so important. Thank you for sharing your story. Excellent interview Mark. I think she wanted to sit and talk with you a little while longer it was adorable.
She’s a good woman. Securing her land for future generations. Putting her family through college.
Help
@kiwii_bones "UFFDAH!" Her children, I betcha’! would NEVER speak about nor to their mother like you just have about yours. These good people take nothing for granted and are grateful for everything. Did you grow up with electricity, heat, plumbing, nice clothes and food? Maybe your mamma’s trying to teach you now, the lessons this woman has taught hers their whole lives. The question is will you, child, learn it?
@@grammamarth6681 sometimes people have very selfish parents. It’s good to call out people who don’t take care of their kids. Keep everyone honest. There are some real POS’ having kids you know...
As much as you call out the good, also voice the issues. Don’t be delusional or one sided
@@J9theExplorer Can’t speak about/ to this person’s mother. No idea what she’s like. This person, however, showing such a great deal of disrespect for his own mother, warranted or not, shows only against him.
Got a lousy mom, go make your point with her not You Tube and then go make your own way without her (like an adult), and suck it up. Ask this wise Appalachian lady what she’d do...
@@grammamarth6681 I imagine the person has addressed this with their parent as well as sharing anonymously on RUclips. maybe this isn’t the place for you to make your point? I welcome debate . It sounds like you might have trouble with your children? Maybe they have issues with the type of parent you are? Maybe they too voiced this and you thought they’re ungrateful? Maybe you’re projecting? I don’t know for sure but it seems like that.
I live in the Appalachians, my husband went to Berea High. The elderly people with that bright light and love are dying out, I cried off an on throughout this whole video, what a wonderful soul, I hope lives in this world for many years to come. And that was the most beautiful version of Amazing Grace I've ever heard , and I'm not even religious. (Am spiritual though). I just love Ruby, I bet she's an earth angel. What a beautiful beautiful life and culture. What a beautiful soul and person.
@Kayla Wright - how dangerous is it now in 2023? Are the city diseases of chemicals in the food and air, theft, rape and murder encroaching? Modern life may be easy - gadgets and switches and shops but it brings creeps, criminals, bad health and chaos. I'd love to hear about general safety where you are. 🌹
I rarely watch interviews all the way through. However this gem of a woman had me hooked the moment she started talking. So much grace, knowledge, wisdom, and heart. She definitely embodies her name ❤
Mark- thank you! I can’t imagine the number of hours and stories filled with trauma and sadness you’ve endured. It is my hope that your time spent with sweet Ms. Ruby was as rewarding for you as it was for those of us watching. ❤
