- Watch this video to see the biggest upgrade for my series 1 Land Rover. My 1957 Series 1 Land Rover rear needed some work and in this video I finally get round to fitting the rear seats!
I think the idea of those extra bits is that the "tab" goes under the side skirt gal steel, that piece you said is 50 years old. So the bolt holes go towards the base of the seat upright. Then the "tab" faces upwards and slips under the upside-down "U" shape of the side rail. This will lock the seat back to the side rail, but not permanently. I agree with others comments, you should get some rubber sheet to separate the seats from the car, reduce the inevitable rattle noise!

Good to see you back making videos. I fitted bench seats in my S3, took me ages to work out how to fix the back brackets.

The "L" brackets are to tie the backs into the side panels (when they are on) - It's to make them universal for Series 1, 2, 3 and early defender.
Nicely done 👍 Think if that was mine, I would get some roof canvas or similar cut to the size of the rear frame panel above the capping line, maybe with eye rivets to attach with.
Nice job, Doc! That really dresses up the rear. It would be cool if the backs could fold down when not in use. Very sharp looking!
Hi Doc,You really need to loose those crossply tires. Some good radial tires will transform the ride and most of all they will improve handling and the car will not be wandering from one side of the road to the other. Another advantage is they have a lot less roling resistance.
Bicycle tubes make good cheap rubber sheet! Although it will need replacing every year.
Those little brackets stop the rattle…the angled. It goes up under the capping! The other bolts to the seat frame! Even though it’s a Series1…I’ll send you a pic of mine

I would definitely put a rubber mat in the back of the Series 1. It would be a lot better

If you fit a roll bar, you can have seatbelts as well
To stop that rattle from the back of the seats, go to a DIY place. They sell packs of little sticky rubber/plastic discs that you stick to Kitchen cuboard doors and draws to deaden the sound of wood hitting wood, very cheap

é simples, olhando o moviemento que vc fez no banco para frente, ele se move, para trás ele se apoia, portanto, vc usa essas peças para prender o bando para eu nao ir para frente, veja que tem dois fouros que vão na moldura da caçamba, e a lingueta dessa peça fica por cima do encosto, e impede que ele vá para frente. olhando pra pra imaginar que é isso
Brackets are to be facing downwards so they can slot into the tub, might have to re adjust your seats and re drill.
If you install these too much of a right angle it becomes very uncomfortable to ride in. Always feels your going to slide off and back is pressed. I installed mine a little out so that it's better on back.
Yes, I thought the same. Installing the seat squabs an inch or two nearer the centre of the vehicle would allow the backrests to tilt back a bit rather than 90° and I'm sure would be far more comfortable. I'm also surprised the backrests don't fold down flat when not actually in use. Otherwise, they look great and, like the front seats, the green looks much better than black and will be cooler too on a hot day.

Not sure about travelling that exposed without at least a seat belt.
Grahame, there’s some weird type approval law which doesn’t allow you to fit seat belts as you’re, in effect, travelling sideways.
I think I’d rather take my chances and jump out the back than be strapped in to that thing!
But yes I agree they are really dangerous for any sort of road driving more than a country road at low speed. I think they do complete the look for the rear though!
Dr - those seats in their upright position totally ruin the look of the back end of the Series…. You need folding back seat…. Genuinely they look shocking…😅
