I was SO not expecting you guys to literally start of with the market down the street from my house. That's our absolute favorite place and it's grown my kid's love for Korean food so much. The lady that runs it got my 4yo on those cuttlefish chips when she gave her a free bag to try and now she asks for it all the time!
I live in SoCal right now but grew up in the Monterey Bay area so it's nice seeing a video like this! OMG, had no clue about Kim's Market in Marina (technically not Monterey) since I used to live there also. $2.50 for kimbap?!?! Such a bargain! Gotta check out next time I visit my friends. Yup.. pho at Chop-Stix.. great memories. Thanks for reviewing Nacho Bizness.. will check it out!
I went into Kim’s mart and the lady, I believe she’s the owner, made fresh mandu(Korean dumplings) and asked if I wanted to buy some so I gave it try. There was another lady there and they made the dumplings right there including cooking them for me. While I waited I was going to just browse around but the owner insisted I have a seat and she pointed the heater she was using right at me so I was warmed up as it was winter time when I visited her store. When they were done cooking the dumplings I took them home and yummy, worth the wait! Very sweet women. Another time I went in with my child and she gave my child a box of the Japanese rice candy.
Cool video, I also ate at Chopstix Vietnamese food but at the Seaside location, it was good. I'll have to try Nacho Bizness, Ocean Sushi and Mundo's next time I visit Monterey.
As a US Marine deployed to South Korea in the mid-80s, I fell in love with Korean food. The potstickers you're referring to are called Yaki mandu. OMG are they delicious. And the street food at night like fried chicken and shrimp...... I wish I could go back it was so good.
Love the videos! My hubby is from The Bay ( I may have said that before) but love seeing all the places. We have been gone for a few years (in Texas). The food looks delicioso!
Thanks a lot for the „Monterey Munching Manual“ 😂😂😂 I immediately saved it in my videos, as I‘ll be there on holiday in August, so I can try out the one or other spot. Best regards from a true subscriber from Germany 🇩🇪 👍
Two days ago we tried Kimchi, fresh Octopus Salad and Wantans at Kim‘s market and had lunch at Chopstix. Both fantastic food and highly recommended worth a trip from Germany! And 17 miles of nice seashore nearby… 😊👍
We lived in Monterey for 20 years and have been to all of these places except the nacho one. Years ago we would order huge trays of sushi from Ocean Sushi for catering at Mission Ranch. I real miss the gimbap rolls. We would pick those up for a fast lunch ….freshly made there is nothing like them
I will need to check out Kim's market next time I visit Monterey. Compagno's and First Awakenings are my two go to spots everytime we are down there. The quality is great while still being at a reasonable price point.
Try Pho Lucky not too far from Kims. The pho is good there and their beef roll with vermicelli is really good. I'm originally from San Jose and when I'm craving good Vietnamese food this is the place to go!
Asian Market down the street from there next to the Pupuseria has better prices and I've been going there for a while now! Ocean Sushi Deli is fantastic!
My girlfriend and I moved back to the bay area and we *love* eating out and discovering restaurants and areas, I am definitely going to share your channel with her The tricky thing is fighting the weight gain 🤣🤣🤣🤣
🌴 I find it interesting 🤔 how does a sushi chef grade or compare his sushi to others like from stores or even other restaurants, do you use a grading system like from 1 thru 10 ? Is it piece by piece , separate like presentation and quality of service , how well things were made ? Freshness of products. 🤔
Nooooooooo you guys were literally in, you town 2 Mins from where I live. Would love to show u around the area if ur here again. I'm a chef as well. Hope u enjoyed your time here
Does the Pho place not have condiments? Such as hoisin sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, chili oil, etc… I can’t eat plain pho, it’s just not right hahaha😂😂😂
There is better Vietnamese food in Salinas and Marina. Saigon Cafe, Than Long, and QQ Noodle are all better then Chopstix and comparable in price. Salinas isn't really a tourist destination, but there's some good food here!
The $5 foot long is now a $6 6 inch. I don’t eat fast food, but I don’t appreciate the corporate greed and inflation changing how people access food. :(
SKIP Chopstix . I can't stand that place, especially since I believe it's actually run by Vietnamese people. Their food is always so bland! I highly recommend QQ in Marina or Pho #1 in Salinas instead for pho cravings! My students recommend El Jaliscience in Salinas for quick/cheap Mexican food.
Kim’s market in Marina is fire! 🔥🔥🔥

Man you two make me so happy
Shout out for Kim’s! Great little family shop with low price for gimbap. Other items might be pricier than the larger stores but definitely a saver

Wow thanks.. when I go next time I’ll stop by these places

i just recently found this channel after randomly and realized it was You two! it’s nice to see this side of you guys :)
Love the videos! My hubby is from The Bay ( I may have said that before) but love seeing all the places. We have been gone for a few years (in Texas). The food looks delicioso!
Hello Taku and Jocelyn food look delicious . I love the restaurants down in Monterey California.
Ocean sushi is fire. Glad u covered them
Thanks a lot for the „Monterey Munching Manual“ 😂😂😂

Next time you guys are in town visit Keokis Hawaiian bbq located in Marina Ca. Solid spots you guys visited!
Love Keoki
Keoki’s Kalbi 🤤🤤
I will need to check out Kim's market next time I visit Monterey. Compagno's and First Awakenings are my two go to spots everytime we are down there. The quality is great while still being at a reasonable price point.
Good video the food you guys eat always look delicious 😋
Have you already shown the amazing Aquarium???
I live in Idaho now but Monterey is where I grew up , I really miss the fishing .
Fish are all gone. There are urchins and jellies remaining. Kelp forest has crashed. Salmon gone. Rockfish going extinct.
The Fish House is my favorite spot. If you haven’t gone you gotta go check it out
Best crab cakes in the world!!
Try Pho Lucky not too far from Kims. The pho is good there and their beef roll with vermicelli is really good. I'm originally from San Jose and when I'm craving good Vietnamese food this is the place to go!
Great to see you guys. Love Monterey / Carmel area. (Point Lobos walk / hike.)
Thank goodness it’s okay to say “Oriental” again. 🤣💕
The tri tip at Mundos is yum!
Asian Market down the street from there next to the Pupuseria has better prices and I've been going there for a while now! Ocean Sushi Deli is fantastic!
Dang. A decade of schooling and I have never been to Kim's. My mainstay was Asian Market on Del Monte. Will check it out next time around 😆
OMGAAWD Taklyn… I get it. I get it. Chef’s kiss
No way you guys went to Kim’s! That’s literally down the street from me. Great spot, great cucumber kimchi.
Go to Racines on the Main Street in Monterey. I like to order the yolkless spinach omelette
where can i get that crab shirt? it's gorgeous!
outdoorcheflife.com/merch-1
Should try Noodle Bar in Marina, California not too far from Monterey
My girlfriend and I moved back to the bay area and we *love* eating out and discovering restaurants and areas, I am definitely going to share your channel with her
The tricky thing is fighting the weight gain 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys may want to translate and discuss what the ALL the entrees are since many of us do not know. Thanks! ❤
Ive rolled you for along time and i enjoy what you post looking forward to takous kook book
I saw a video where you mentioned you would like a small piece of property. I have a nice ocean view lot in Shelter Cove for sale.
Still for sale?
Wow! "Ocean sushi"?! We have "Sushi Kaiyo" here on the big island Hawaii
Cool post! Looks like there are actually 3 locations for Chopstix and 2 for Ocean Sushi Deli
and 2 Mundos Sandwich
Compagnos in pacific grove is an all time hidden gem! Like 40 sandwiches and the deserts they make are fire! #27 you’ll thank me later
A regular foot long turkey at subway here in Hawaii is $14. So if it's under $10 in Cali that's deals.
Great video 👍👍
I was waiting for Taku's long sip of beer and, "ahhhh." Where are the good watering holes?
Yes Yes !! That looks super tasty !!
Subway is $17 now for a foot long BMT.
$17?! That’s insane.
Kim’s oriental is so good! 😀
Phil's fish house is the go to spot for me.
Is it just me or did the food quality go down since they moved locations
It’s okay place. But weird location. Between Monterey and Santa Cruz.
If yall still hear Randy's breakfast sandwich is one of a kind! only on weekdays
Ehhh it’s good on prices but they half ass it now with the sandwiches and they never wear gloves or clean their hands lol

I remember when pho was $8 for a large bowl a few years ago. Where has the time gone.
LMAO NOOOO NOT MY SEAWEED
Nooooooooo you guys were literally in, you town 2 Mins from where I live. Would love to show u around the area if ur here again. I'm a chef as well. Hope u enjoyed your time here
2.50 for the kimbap! thats a steal
Next time you’re in the area, hmu I’d show y’all more spots ✌🏽!
Subway way more expesive now, I'm much closer to $20 than $10 for a footlong and that's just the sub alone.
Use the coupons dummy, it’s well below 20, even below ten even for the pastrami
Jocelyn your skin looks so good. Glowing! What is your secret.😊
Mundos is so good. I hit it up after fishing shelter cove.
Holy Yummy🎉
Wwe don't have any foods like this in VT.
You have to go to tje city 😢.
Thanks for .aking me hungry🤣.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Oh I'm there!
Does the Pho place not have condiments? Such as hoisin sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, chili oil, etc… I can’t eat plain pho, it’s just not right hahaha😂😂😂
Subway is 12 bucks for a foot long in South Carolina
Yoo kimbap looks so good rn
Whoa, are you from Marina??
Go to Gilroy and do a day. Outlets, food, and winery? lol maybe some fruit stands 😮
Garlic Outlet, garlic food, garlic wine, garlic fruits… 😂
Thanks ! 😊
There is better Vietnamese food in Salinas and Marina. Saigon Cafe, Than Long, and QQ Noodle are all better then Chopstix and comparable in price. Salinas isn't really a tourist destination, but there's some good food here!
Monterey is my home town
U needed to go to Jim's its in seaside but like right there,
The amount of food you two eat in 13 minutes I’m surprised you’re bodies aren’t the size of a house 😂😂😜
Damn you’re in my city of Marina!
Kimbap for $2.50? Dang, that is cheap. It's 8 and up here where I am.
The octopus is cooked chemically, just like Ceviche
Lemon / Lime juice is a chemical now.? 🤷🏻♀️ Citric Acid ツ
Watching Taku judge non-OCL sushi was as nerve-wracking as watching Gordon Ramsay critique his next victim 😰
Dont sleep on fresh gimchi, its the best.
LOVE CHOPSTIX!!!
I am just really curious what nationality Jocelyn is. She seems really familiar with Korean and Japanese culture, but looks Mexican!
believe she is. 👍
Yay!!! 😍🖤🥰🇺🇸🍻🍺
it sounds like there is feedback from your mic during the first 3 minutes or so.
When she said she wanted some meat and he followed up with you want some meat my mind went straight to the gutter.
Subway is about the same price as the sandwhich you guys got, $10-14 per sandwhich
❤
Yummy 🤤
Ya must be smoking the 🔥 to be having the munchies like that
Made me hungry
👍🏾
Omg, that makes sense. Sushi is a Japanese burrito! 🍣
Exactly 😂
Barba Azul is the best place in seaside. Fresh delicious and amazing. Avoid the tourist trap nonsense
Welcome to Beautiful Monterey 🎉 but sorry! it’s very fog week! You guys are the best❤
This is not Monterey in LA is it?
I grew up there
That is not a Nacho. The fiasta.6:00
The $5 foot long is now a $6 6 inch. I don’t eat fast food, but I don’t appreciate the corporate greed and inflation changing how people access food. :(
We used to go to CHOP STIX all the time when we lived in San Jose.
It's not my business 5:30 It's a nacho business
Not my seaweed.....
omg kroean food
SKIP Chopstix . I can't stand that place, especially since I believe it's actually run by Vietnamese people. Their food is always so bland! I highly recommend QQ in Marina or Pho #1 in Salinas instead for pho cravings!

the squeaky sound from the camera makes it unbearable to watch although I love watch you guys!
You cannot mess up a pho broth recipe.. its so standard basic.. whoever mess it up .. should never open a restaurant.
