I was taught the same thing as a child by my parents - to eat every grain of rice as a sign of respect to the rice farmers. Japanese and Korean culture can be similar in so many ways! But sometimes I think it's cuz my parents were poor immigrants and hated to see food waste, which is just as noble a reason, too.
Ok well I can give you another look at a mentality that works. Eat till you feel good, extra food can be saved and eaten later, given away, or given back to the soil to feed the soil system in respect to the farmers.
Jocelyn, you are truly blessed that your Asian American bf would eat your last 5 grains of rice. That’s true Asian love you don’t see much nowadays. 😆❤️☺️👏🏼
My boss took me to lunch at Telefèric Barcelona and they had beautiful watercolor flyers with a recipe for the pan tomate. I quickly snatched up the flyer and made the bread for dinner a couple of days later. I can honestly say that not only is the food at the restaurant outstanding, but even their basic recipes are on point.
Eating every grain of rice is definitely a must. Have been doing that as a kid. Comes from good training as a kid in Japan. I tell my wife and kids that they need to eat all of their rice every time we eat gohan.
Living so close to San Jose, you'd think I'd venture there and try out their food.. I'm overdue to imbibe. Thanks for the video! Hey, i just got myself Star Bread last night..
There's been at least one or two locations in each of your Bay Area restaurant videos that I hadn't come across as as a local. And I trust your guy's palettes so I'm adding those spots to my list haha.
🌴 hey you two, ya went and started with big bowls of Pho ! Now that’s how you open a vid ! After the all that other food I gained virtual video pounds 😄 👍
Paik Noodles, Hu Tieu Nam Vang, Yummy Trieu Chau, Hai Nam, Com Tam Thien Huong in Viet Town mall, Hue Restaurant, Vons Chicken original location, all pretty great spots for authentic food.
I was wondering if you have a favorite restaurant for tempura in the San Francisco and around the Bay Area. It's been a difficult search for me. Enjoy seeing you both at the street fair in the city and your kelp hot sauce. Thanks and enjoy your channels.
Best tempura is Sushi Zono in Campbell. Crispiest batter of any Japanese restaurant. Whenever I go to new Japanese restaurant, I always try their tempura.
I have a lot of family in San Fran and been there a few times but dont know much about their food scene. I do remember some really great Mexican spot but I dont remem the name now.
I’m surprised for how much you guys love amazing and create amazing food you are going to some very generic spots in the bay. You have to hit SF up more and some other smaller not so “fancy” spots. Kevin’s pho in westlake in Daly City is the best out there. Not fancy, just home in the wall but best soup
No one ever comes to South SJ. Come check out the new authentic ramen place - Ramen Champ! I love their ramen, but their katsu curry and mini salmon bowls are good too!
What are the chances I could meet you guys and grab a bite / beer to eat ❤❤❤❤ Me searching for you guys at all the good San Jose foodie places when I’m out 😅
pretty sure the eating of all the grains of rice either on the bowl or plate is more of an Asian culture thing. Because I do the same too, and I usually have to scold my younger siblings/cousin. Throwing rice away is a sin. :D
Aloha, and had a few questions. Do you have a permanent abode, and what do you do with it during long trips? What happened with your garden? Did you sell your New Zealand van? And why do you make me hungry?
"Why do you make me hungry?"😂 sorry. lol We don't have a permanent place, we packed everything up end of December because we couldn't justify paying bay area rent prices to be gone most of the year. So the garden is no more but there will be a better one in the future when we can afford to buy a house! We still have the NZ van since we plan to go back. Just had to take care of some stuff in the US + van life in new zealand during winter is a bit of bummer.
@@TaklyntheWorld Aloha, and mahalo for your response. Thought maybe you had sublet it. Knew you had some trees. Agree anywhere in the winter in a van would be uncomfortable.
I don’t understand the love for durian. Had it in thailand and regretted it. There is nothing pleasant about it. My thai friends enjoyed watching me try it though😂 to each their own.
@@TaklyntheWorld great video again! Welcome back. New Zealand & Australia video were nice. But there is nowhere like home. Jocelyn what are the other two? For me it's Italian & Mexican food. In no particular order. With Chinese food 4th and American BBQ 5th
Joclyne, buy Tacu a new shirt, LOL, He has been wearing it for 2yrs, I do like it ,but maybe green. YEAH, I think he would look in green, My middle name is the same as your fisrt name, I am of french desent, but Canadian.

Indonesian as well 😅

San Jose native here, shoutout to you guys for showing us some love!! Pho Ha Noi is my favorite 😋
I miss living in San Jose. So much bomb food. Kazoo sushi 🍣 was my favorite
Same with filipino every grains is precious. Rice is life. Thank you for the videos.
The banana milkshake at the drive inn is bomb too!
We shared one!
Eating every grain of rice is definitely a must. Have been doing that as a kid. Comes from good training as a kid in Japan. I tell my wife and kids that they need to eat all of their rice every time we eat gohan.
Watching you go out to eat is just as enjoyable as when you guys cook
‘Oh my gosh, she’s outta control!’ 😅😅😅😅😅
GREAT VID You two!
I think we’d love a week of at home dinners video
Indeed, there's so many awesome places to eat near San Francisco Bay.
I use Rancho Gordo too. I'm not familiar enough with beans to know the difference, but I want to support them because they are awesome.
Hope you guys keep making more videos like these, they're great 👍
Living so close to San Jose, you'd think I'd venture there and try out their food.. I'm overdue to imbibe. Thanks for the video!

Awesome love these food videos cool good to see your favorites you two are so chill 2gether
"That's the one" is a phrase I use regularly after a satisfying bite.
Omg Falafel Drive In…a San Jose staple for sure ❤
love these videos and welcome back to the bay.
Thats awesome you are San Jose area residents too! I live in Sunnyvale. Going to check out Pho Ha Noi😊

Great picks! Got me craving falafel now with a side of pho ;)
Falafel's drive in is the best. Falafel and banana shake can't be beat
Yup! Paired mine with a banana shake.
Everything looks so yummy. Best vlog yet !
Thanks!

That..was a food tsunami..absolutely delish looking food!! Love this vlog J❤️
My wife and I were in SF last weekend and went to Gao Viet Kitchen SF on your reco.....it was amazing!!
Glad you enjoyed!
When you say Falafels and San Jose in the same breath you can ONLY be talking about "The Falafel Drive IN"😍😍 So.... miss it!😥😥😥
Were they good like ... 30 years ago or something? That place seems to just run on pure nostalgia these days. I've been and it's ... bad.
NGL surprised you went with Falafel's drive in over Falafel STOP in Cupertino. Definitely worth a try if you're in the South Bay.
Loved the video. Keep it up
Love the food themed videos!
Yay! Thank you!
Rancho Gordo beans are the best, no more canned beans! The black garbanzo beans are wonderful!
You should add some of your dessert to one of your recipes. Could be amazing
By the way, if you didn't yet know -- Falafel's Drive-In was featured in Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives!
They have a photo of it!
Hi Taku. Hi Jocelyn. Cool video. Bay Area foods are so good. 😊
Thanks for coming to my hometown san mateo, going to have to try out the hot pot

There's a Liuyishou in Cupertino too. It's newish

Please don’t say San Fran lol
I LOVE STARBREAD!!!!!!!! SOOOO GOOD!
Taku has the coolest shirt I've ever seen
thats my favorite falafel place too
i like this. do more reviews
Nice to see some of our peninsula and south bay restaurants made your top picks! I will have to try a few of them! Thanks, Taku and Jocelyn!
Another great foodie adventure.
Can’t wait for the next one.
Bay Area food is absolutely the best😊
Video was excellent so you may as well keep drinking!😉
I loved little luccas specialty sandwich shop when i was in south san fran. Sad to not see it on your list. 😢
Little Lucca is good but it's pretty rare that we crave a sandwich. 😅

Ummm kevin's is super generic. 😂 food taste is subjective. While Kevin's is good, it's not better in our *personal* opinion.
Man, everytime I wanna go to Falafel Drive In there's always a long ass line. Need to go there on the off-hours.

It's the perfect thing to bring!

Babbbbbyy‼️
I would get it lit with flight jars of Sangria real good. 😊
I saw one Asian dish I would definitely like to try.
I love gizzards too, nobody ever has them anymore!
Thumbs up 👍🏽 for Jocelyn with the Triple straw chug/drink 😂❤
PHO HA NOI is DA Bomb!!!!!
I’ve never heard anyone call Starbread, “butter bread”. We call them señiorita bread out here in the East bay.
They're called seniorita bread over here too but butter bread was more of a description for those who have never had it.
🤙
Enjoyed this video! Don’t let the haters get you down. Loved the ending 😂
I think I missed it, but what’s the name of the hot pot place?
For falafels go to Achilles in Santa Clara. 5 minutes away so much better

Holly Delicious ness 🌞🔥.
Thanks 🎉.
JO JO IN VT 💞
dam everyone really love pho ha noi
It's the high quality meat, the crab rolls, and for us, they have bun bo hue! A lot of pho places don't have that.
Bro eats everything with rice, hotpot is no exception 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 episode Y’All! And cheers to Jocelyn for putting a dent in the flight 🍻😎🤙🏼

he got sunburnt at the Fisherman's Life event. He was in the peeling stages for the video. lol

Durian smells fruity to me
