Last year I hiked the entirety of the Continental Divide Trail from Mexico to Canada with a marathon gsar grey maple on my wrist. Through hot dusty deserts, high altitude snow covered mountains and across swift freezing rivers the gsar never had an issue. Sinn and tegimented cases: I bought one 5 years ago. The official retailer i went to had a sinn provided little kit with a screwdriver and a tegimented case to show scratch resistance.
Being a relatively sceptical person when i see such a "showpiece" i told him if it is supposed to withstand a screwdriver, then it should be able to withstand what it will encounter on my wrist, and if not we would meet again very soon.
Now, 5 years later and the watch having had "enemy contact" with cable trays, the 19" rails in electrical and electronics cabinets etc. And while the paint on the bezel shows a few minor scars, the tegimented case to my surprise does not.
A g-shock may be tougher in terms of impact, but not in terms of scratchresistance. I wore one before my Sinn at work and i saw the difference in scratches. (No wonder plastic is quite soft compared to hardened steel)
Edit: btw.: in the extreme diver segment i would have expected the Sinn UX...(unlimited water depth resistance? due to fluid filled case)

Small note about spring bars, they’re designed to be thin and flimsy. Most are meant to be the failure point, such that if something grabs your watch and pulls HARD, the spring bar breaks, but it won’t take your hand off with it. Worked in a factory once that didn’t allow any jewelry except silicon wedding rings and watches with spring bars,, for this reason.

A few corrections, Teddy. Sinn uses HI80 type of steel for their divers, which they tagiment. But, that type of steel is a bit harder than your everyday 316L, and it is 300 HV. That is without tagiment or any other coating. And Damasko steel hardening is around 800 HV, as stated at their web page. Not 1200 HV.

I've worn an MSAR (40mm gsar), in anthracite black with an anthracite black stainless bracelet for about 7 years straight now. That includes through extensive 911 service in a busy system.
I'm very hard on my edc stuff, and have destroyed luminox watches before as example.
I've only had two issues with my MSAR. The painted white marks on the bezel coming off - presumably from patient exam gloves being wrapped over the watch in some cases. And the screws for the bracelet coming out occasionally. It's honestly been a remarkably resilient watch that's held up extremely well. The dlc anthracite is extremely hard and I have extremely few scratches on it. Mainly only at the clasp of the bracelet and right at the corners of the bezel. Of course, the sapphire crystal is as flawless as the day I got the watch. I've been extremely impressed.

Love the U50 but it was a big mistake putting the AR coating on the outside. I think the marketing team wants it to look good so people will buy it. I understand is will be clear in the water but having the AR coating on the inside I think covers that base In my opinion.

Love the attitude and aspect of the people at Muhle Glashutte. A great choice for any watch dude who wants to stand out from the crowd and back a family owned firm at the same time. And who wouldn't want to do that? I bought one over 20 years ago and it serves me well to this day. Perhaps I'm due another....
P.S. The fixed lugs on the Tudor is an interesting aspect. I was not aware of that. I was climbing in the Himalayas last month and almost lost a Seamaster 300M due to a lost spring bar on a NATO strap!

Considering the unique features of the Richard Mille RM 26-01, acquiring this timepiece involves a different approach than traditional watches. The RM 26-01 boasts a tourbillon movement, making it a rare and exquisite investment in the world of horology. Its limited production and intricate design suggest potential appreciation in value over time.

Prioritizing effective personal finance management holds greater significance than the sheer amount saved, irrespective of income source. With the intricate features and limited availability, I recognize the need for expert advice in making such a purchase. Do you have any recommendations for a trustworthy watch advisor?

Nice video, some great picks. I wonder though what sort of data supports the degree of shock resistance (apart from G-Shocks). I hear that quartz is more shock resistant than automatic/mechanical, full balance bridge and free sprung balance help with shock resistance, but how is this quantified? What about silicon vs. metal movement components? Case design?

  • @suzielaura7819
    @suzielaura7819 6 месяцев назад

Need to consider the Bremont Martin Baker III. Very tough. Case hardened. Shock resistant. Able to withstand an ejection. 100m resistant. Anti-magnetic. Able to withstand the magnetic fields in a cockpit.

Buddy you did a good job, but as general contractor I can tell you the missing super models:
Seiko - Tuna 300m and 1000m, Capitan Willard too.
Citizen - Ecozilla, Orca and NB6004
Grand Seiko - Submariner titanium beats by prize, weight and quality the Rolex Sea dweller (and availability)
Microbrand: NFW(Nautic Fox Watches) ANY model of that brand have 10x better sping bars. Period. Best model SHUMATE 24mm super bar, $800 of a Super Tank you will loose your hand first than the watch.
Honestly, GSHOCK is by far the best. Rangeman, mudman, square Gw500u made in japan (steelcase), titanium squares.
Nothing in earth can beat GSHOCK.
