From 1999 to around 2007 the WHO was on fire, especially Townsend. He murders those guitars and hits those strings so hard, even when he plays acoustic guitars.

    Love the Who forever...

I saw them twice in 2000, once in 2002. The loss of John was arguably greater than that of Moon. Especially now they have Zak. I saw the Quadrophenia tour in 2013 and that was enough for me. The fire was out, 1999-2002 truly was a golden moment.

I've been listening to rock music for almost thirty-five years, in its most varied forms, in dozens of bands. As time went by, I went in search of the family tree of the bands I like the most. And I came to this conclusion: The Who is the starting point for everything I like.

    • @ACMEpowersports

Exactly. And they led me to Guided by Voices. Who IMO is still the best live American band.

Saw the Who in 1970 in Philadelphia where they performed the entire set of Tommy. Still remember the show and was so happy when Pete said they were going to do the entire Rock Opera. Tommy had just been released about a year before.

I was told Pete's windmills were actually powering the video screen behind them. The more I hear Ringo's kid play, the more I like him. Elements of Moon, but his own style. Thanks for posting.

think of it.....TOMMY / WHO'S NEXT / QUADRAPHENIA ....All within 4 years. Where do you go from there? That's what Pete was up against. He was under the tidle wave of his own greatness. All the pressure was on his shoulders to write the next masterpiece. There was no lennon to mc cartney, no richards to jagger, no gilmore to waters. Same with Springsteen. Wrote it, sung it, lead guitarist. Carried every show. That's how you knw God is real...by what He created. Not only the universe (people go on vacation to far away lands and come back and say they cant even describe the beauty of what they saw/experienced. The afore-mentioned lads - created beings excersizing their God given gifts to the max. And - how fortunate / blessed are we to be given the gift of hearing and the superb musical taste to appreciate the finest music ever performed.

I have seen the Who so many ( to me ) times in the 2000s and know I saw them at Borgata and I THINK it was to promote "Endless Wire" but I they came in 2006 and I thought 1-2 years later I remember being bummed I didn't see them the first time ( I always tell the wife, "This could be last tour" but they always prove me wrong ). But I can't recall if this is the show I was at or did they play Endless Wire stuff both tours. I just remember walking down near stage with other fans during "Fragments" and Pete started it with "You know this one" ( I guess the familiar start of the song sound Baba like ) but I see that isn't here, so it must have been 2nd show - but something bugs me - I thought they stopped the Endless Wire support after initial tour. I just don't recall, Oh well. I guess I should take better care of my Ticketmaster at home printed tickets. He doesn't say "You know this" before "Fragments" so maybe that was back at the Meadowlands. I can't recall. Anyone else ?

I guess Elvis Presley was more of an influence on music artists than I ever realized... not meaning he was an influence on their style of music though. I doubt Elvis ever knew. He once asked if he would be remembered.

Share excerpt of Heart of Sufism with all due respect Sir it goes.. the soul is a bird of paradise, a free dweller in the heavens. It's first person is the mind, then the body. In these it becomes not only limited, but captive. The soul in itself alone is no other than consciousness there are two aims to strive for throughout ones life: the one is real and the other false. Therefore in the language of the mystic this is called Maya, it's nature is change constantly. Man wants something in life upon which he can rely, and this shows, whether he believes in a deity or not, that he is constantly seeking God. Tout Antonin Dvorak beloved composer derive inspiration from nature and his museum by baroque architect in Czechoslovakia. Cheers Sir Peter, Eric, Rodger, Kenny and Colleagues.
