From 1999 to around 2007 the WHO was on fire, especially Townsend. He murders those guitars and hits those strings so hard, even when he plays acoustic guitars.
I saw them twice in 2000, once in 2002. The loss of John was arguably greater than that of Moon. Especially now they have Zak. I saw the Quadrophenia tour in 2013 and that was enough for me. The fire was out, 1999-2002 truly was a golden moment.
I've been listening to rock music for almost thirty-five years, in its most varied forms, in dozens of bands. As time went by, I went in search of the family tree of the bands I like the most. And I came to this conclusion: The Who is the starting point for everything I like.
Saw the Who in 1970 in Philadelphia where they performed the entire set of Tommy. Still remember the show and was so happy when Pete said they were going to do the entire Rock Opera. Tommy had just been released about a year before.
I was told Pete's windmills were actually powering the video screen behind them. The more I hear Ringo's kid play, the more I like him. Elements of Moon, but his own style. Thanks for posting.

Underrated, are you kidding me..one of the most Famous Bands in All The Lands!! The Who been listening since 1960's they are not the same, but they play a better game...the sound is still ground breaking
At 1:42:00 During the first verse of the encore PinBall Wizard, they each start singing different verses of the song, and Pete give a hard looks to Roger Daltry..
It was a great set list, but at a time when Roger was starting to have issues with the pre cancer throat / vocal chord . Which he ended up having surgery for in the states . He really struggled in Toronto. But soldiered through . Thought his was great 2010-15 . Especially on the Quad tour ❤️🎸
think of it.....TOMMY / WHO'S NEXT / QUADRAPHENIA ....All within 4 years. Where do you go from there? That's what Pete was up against. He was under the tidle wave of his own greatness. All the pressure was on his shoulders to write the next masterpiece. There was no lennon to mc cartney, no richards to jagger, no gilmore to waters. Same with Springsteen. Wrote it, sung it, lead guitarist. Carried every show. That's how you knw God is real...by what He created. Michael Reid from Nygel Miller. I also agree how Zach Starkey is as the Who's drummer! Always thought so! Fair dog's to Kenny Jones as well - but I think Kenny would be good with ANYBODY! Somehow I think Zach was specially cut out for the Who!
@@johnkeeley5619 There was a concert with both the amazing Zach Starkey, and his also amazing dad Ringo Starr on the bill. The bad news was, that although I'm a great fan of them BOTH, it was not to be. Because I was unemployed and couldn't afford to go to concerts,! Or buy C.D.'s Or videos. Or books. I have seen the Who so many ( to me ) times in the 2000s and know I saw them at Borgata and I THINK it was to promote "Endless Wire" but I they came in 2006 and I thought 1-2 years later I remember being bummed I didn't see them the first time ( I always tell the wife, "This could be last tour" but they always prove me wrong ). But I can't recall if this is the show I was at or did they play Endless Wire stuff both tours. I just remember walking down near stage with other fans during "Fragments" and Pete started it with "You know this one" ( I guess the familiar start of the song sound Baba like ) but I see that isn't here, so it must have been 2nd show - but something bugs me - I thought they stopped the Endless Wire support after initial tour. I just don't recall, Oh well. I guess I should take better care of my Ticketmaster at home printed tickets. He doesn't say "You know this" before "Fragments" so maybe that was back at the Meadowlands. I can't recall. Anyone else ?
I guess Elvis Presley was more of an influence on music artists than I ever realized... not meaning he was an influence on their style of music though. I doubt Elvis ever knew. He once asked if he would be remembered.
He was playing them in 1967 and 68 but kinda stopped when Hendrix got known for them, too. That red one is his most-used guitar, like about 30 years or so, Superbowl, 9-11 concert, etc.
It must be frustrating for Zak not having a strong bass guitarist in front of him, there's a gaping hole the ox used to fill with thundering bass lines.sorely missed

Greatest rock 'n' roll band ever
Agree 100%👍🇬🇧🏆🇬🇧
They are so powerful even at this time. I mean, where do they take this power ? Absolutely one of the greatest live bands...

Exactly. And they led me to Guided by Voices. Who IMO is still the best live American band.
Bloody fantastic as always. 👍🇬🇧🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🇬🇧🏆

Great performance. Really wanted to see this show but couldn’t make it happen. Thank you for posting this.
Back in the day with Moon and Entwistle, lead vocals, lead guitar, lead bass, and lead drums!

Hey.. Great sound quality on the recording.
the most underrated rock band they're as good as the stones, zeppelin, Deep Purple.
Way better than all of those.
I saw all of those bands and The Who were miles better than any of them!I also saw Hendrix and the Who were much better live than him.
Jake Thomas I agree, The WHO we're the greatest classic ' Live" rock performing band off all time hands down! 🎸

And he’s practically deaf now. Remarkable.
