I remember one night back in 1985 in Fort Wayne Indiana I saw Robin in a hotel bar room..I was just driving thru town and I saw a sign in front of this hotel that said Robin Trower tonight at 8pm..I couldn't believe it... I looked at my clock in my Vega and it read 7:30pm...I turned my Vega around and went in to the hotel bar grabbed a cold one and sat down and began to be blown away...I was 24 years old and had been playing the guitar since I was 11..it was a night I will never forget...Robin was really on that night...🎸🎸🎸

      He's great.
He has the same problem that larry holmes does.
Lives in the shadow of mohammad ali.
Trower lives of the great jimi hendrix.
It's not fair to either one of them , but that's all it will ever be .Trowers probably better guitars, but doesn't have Jimi's genius mind.

Been listening to Trower for over forty years he’s in my opinion THE most underrated guitarist in history.
Never a big singles guy probably had something to do with it. My little brother who grew up in the 80s 90s went to see him in the UK few years ago on my recommendation having never heard him before.
He said after he just burst into tears during the gig it was THAT GOOD. He’s now one of Robin’s biggest fans 🤣 has everything .

Robin Trower's career is more than four decades long. Already in the early sixties he was considered one of the most virtuoso guitarists of the then flourishing London club scene. He achieved worldwide success a little later with Procol Harum. But it was only after Trower left Procol Harum in 1972 and performed under his own name that his bluesy-psychedelic playing became an unmistakable trademark. He was sometimes dubbed "the white Hendrix" - which he didn't care about from the heart. In the last three decades he recorded numerous albums, was on tour almost non-stop and also managed to write and produce various film music. The guitar brand Fender honored Trower by launching a Trower Signature model for the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster.

Außer, was Malmsteen angeht, sorry.

Great live performance. It's 2024 which makes the "Bridge of Sighs" LP 50 years old. That album from 1974 absolutely crushes the test of time, still amazing all these years later. His cuts from BOS during this live performance are outstanding.
I saw Robin Trower live twice, once in 1976 and again in 1977 when he was headlining arena shows in the US. In my case for 19k appreciative fans at the old Capital Centre in Largo MD. Robin and the band blew the lid off the arena both times. Loud but super clean and rich. He was definitely one of the guitar gods of that era.
I had tickets to see the 2024 US tour, but he cancelled due to health issues. I wish Robin a full recovery and I hope he eventually pulls off that US tour.

I still remember the day the "Bridge Of Sighs" album came out in 1974 and with good friends, all toked up, sitting around in our bean bag chairs and listening to some new music on our Kenwood Quadraphonic Stereo with 4 huge Infinity speakers in the 4 corners of the living room. It's still so easy to remember, even now, how the unbelievably righteous sounds went round and round at a very loud volume and seriously blew everybody's minds!
I've always thought that the original studio version of the "Bridge of Sighs" track should've been theme music for the 1st Conan movie.
It's fantastic to still be able to see, and hear, a major rock band originally from the 70s that's not an embarrassment to their former selves.
I mean, really...so many of those long-time, 3 or 4 hits bands with most still living members now having ridiculous looking overly long hair, all tatted up, wearing bi-focals, with skinny chicken legs, no ass, and a big fat belly! Sad...
The desperation of some of those dudes to still feel relevant or to maybe just get a paycheck from having lived a life without acquiring some kind of marketable job skills along the way or making bad financial decisions over the years, etc., etc., etc., it's really kinda sad, in a way!

BJJB - I still remember the first time I heard Bridge of Sighs on my parents Marantz stereo in 1974. I was in 10th grade in New Jersey, and I went out and got the album that day. I've seen him many times since then, in places as big as Shea Stadium and as small as the Roxy. One of the greats, and unfairly compared to Hendrix.

Brilliant on both occasions. Literally made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up first solo he hit. Davy Pattison's a perfect fit for these songs. R.I.P James Dewar. 🎸🎶🎵👌

@Maxine McKenzie, I have been fortunate enough to have seen him perhaps 6 times incl the show he did with JB, mostly superb, and, barring my late fathers' illness whenever he was touring nearby, it would have been at least another 2 perhaps 3 and of course C19 for his Nov show last year here in London. I loved James' vocals but also really liked Davey's as well: a huge disappointment for me is that Robin seems to ignore the catalogue of songs that Davey did in the late 80's and early 90's which have some of my favourites and that they didn't tour the UK during that time afaik. I just LOVE RT's solos, for me they take me on a journey, they are not just a random collection of notes. A true musician.
