I saw this tour in Camden, NJ, and it was the best concert I have seen by The Who (I have seen them 12 or 13 or so times. Plus Daltrey solo 3 times, Entwistle solo 2 times, and Townshend solo 1 time).
This 2000 Tour kicked arse! The band were firing on all cylinders. Wow! A total power house of some of the twentieth centuries’ best music. I love this band and have seen them numerous times . These shows were truly special.
It's really shocking how much worse Zak plays with The Who now (on their current tour). Now, he doesn't appear to know the original parts, and just hacks out repetitive, uninspired fills that have zero musicality or connection to the original parts. HERE, he's a revelation - true in spirit to the originals, creative and musical. I wonder what happened to him.
@@reapersaurus I think one of the problems is that now, Zak has to use an electronic kit, I assume due to Pete and Roger's hearing issues. As a drummer, I can tell you that it feels VERY different to play on even the nicest of electronic kits; the mesh heads (or pads) feel and respond differently, and the cymbals aren't nearly as expressive. Electronic kits have their place, but from the recent videos I've seen, it sounds awful with the Who. If I were Zak, I'd be bored trying to bang away at a lifeless electronic kit as well. So maybe that's part of it? I can't watch the recent videos long enough to say much about his actual drumming, because the electronic drums sound so awful.
It's sad. I wish I saw them in the late nineties to 2001 era. I was too young. I'd say it's the best lineup since Moon died. Especially in the late nineties when they were playing as a stripped down four piece.
I saw them at Shoreline that year (same week, as I recall). Great show! Here, Roger’s voice seems to take to the Valley’s warm air. He sounds strong from the start.
I absolutely loved this tour. Just the five of them-not a superhyped “reunion” tour. Just a working band on tour. For me, this was the remedy I needed after the bloated 1989 tour.
Saw them for the first time in Dallas 1989 (cotton bowl) and was somewhat disappointed. 11 years later, saw them in Dallas and was blown away and how powerful the show was. Seen them many times since, but this was the best show. @@kevinhogue5071
Kind of a shame to lose the last bow. It's difficult to say whether there was any more music after this last song here. Obviously Pete had some kind of technical problems and had to even switch guitars. But I was thinking that even compared to Middle 70s Who with Keith massacring the drums, this particular incarnation might have been the best Who ever. Zach Starkey is an amazing drummer. He hits hard and he has time and he plays his kit like a madman but his own style of madman. It's a brilliant set and it reminds exactly how much music these guys made. And of course you just don't hear this crashing guitar anymore. Pete was an amazing textural player. Thanks for posting this. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but I stayed all the way till the end. Full thumbs up!
if you can't tell I am a WHO FAN by my name well your just not trying very hard to think! So very much we have to Thank The Hellion92 as Always Again for finding Gems for us WHO FANS to Enjoy again.... THANK YOU AGAIN! hope Pete was able to get over the Grumpiness ?
Me and my friend Richard were there - it was great and a vendor had some of John's original art for sale but damnit I didn't buy any - they played so great as you can see
Dans la description il y à toujours peter framton pourquoi ? Mystère en tout cas merci pour le post très bon concert THE WHO 'BEST TOWNSHEND BOSS 😂( Guy platteau Marseille France)
I'm sure Roger is lovely in his own way but Lmfao Pete was cursed by getting stuck with Roger. You can tell he always had more of a bond with John and Keith 22:54

The Who are a great band ,been playing their numbers on stage since the sixties .But they,re not reaching those high notes any more , why don,t they bring the pitch down a couple of notes .If I paid lots of cash and or travelled many miles to see them I,d feel done If any other lesser known band played missing the high notes ,would ,nt get a good feed back lov yer Victo fire angel
1989 tour was an ensemble show with a horn section, back up singers, second guitar player and percussionist; I saw them at the Cotton Bowl in 89 and was slightly disappointed. Saw them 11 years later in Denver in 2000 and POW- The Who were back! 5 piece band that put on a phenomenal show.

I saw Camden as well. I felt mine they were ageless and I didn’t think they still be somewhat relevant 23 years later !
the who were on fire in 2000!
This tour had Pete playing with renewed energy. Every show smoked.
Listening to this makes me appreciate Keith Moon!
Its good that the photograthy focuses on all the players
Rogers voice, Petes guitar and John on bass excellent work on this the best
Rabbit was smoking on My Generation!
Pete is just brilliant any how any way you look at it. saw them at Village Theater in '66 and many other times, never saw them without Moon

Zak was awesome here, his playing on My Wife is very much something Moonie would approve of.

@@robertfoshizzleyeah they are literally 80, like put dawg on a wheelchair
They won't live forever which deeply saddens me

10 different times through the years...they were tight during this tour!! Best I've seen them

Thanks for putting this up. I was right in front of Pete that night. One of my two favorite nights of that year.

It was the last time they were a true band. The only extra musician is a keyboardist
Best version of My Generation I’ve heard! 😄❤️
What a show! The Hellion always delivers
Was at this show with a friend from work who has since passed. Had no idea until today that it was filmed. Thanks for posting!

Roger Daltrey is ~ 56 years old here and ripped.

So sad that you can hardly hear John’s bass… Otherwise great show.
It doesn't stick out enough in the mix. It's sad that he has that custom bass and whole set up and you can barely hear it
👍👍🎸
John Entwistle’s mic seems to have been muted😔
That was done because his voice had deteriorated quite a bit.
I'm sure Roger is lovely in his own way but Lmfao Pete was cursed by getting stuck with Roger. You can tell he always had more of a bond with John and Keith 22:54
Hellion92 how have you been doing long time no posts
Roger looking finer in 2000 than when he was in his 20s
Awesome, thanks! Do you happen to have Shoreline from the night before? I used to have a copy but lost it in a move.
It's up (in parts).
I was at that show! It was awesome!
Why did Pete give up on Gibson guitars? This is a great concert, but the Fender sound just isn't the Who sound.
I was there. Do you have their July4th show in 02. I was there too
I have some 2002 shows but not that one.
