Sol‘s deadly fear of becoming Ky’s father in-law is a treasure.
That scene had me rolling on the floor for 5 straight minutes. Honestly, though, I think Dizzy would have the biggest reaction to it (As Sol nearly killed her in GGX).

Honestly that’s something I really found quite fucking intriguing. (outside of Happy Chaos in Strive) Going into this I had a clue of who the “bad” guys were but they all ended being just ppl who made rough mistakes and are looking for their own atonement or conclusion. That or they were simply victims to the formulas at which they were created for. Its pretty awesome

I was so glad they gave Venom his moment in this story. And his extra story is a bit heartwarming too
For a fighting game, the characters end up teaming up more often than they do fighting with each other, huh? Not that I’m complaining, its dope as hell. Guess that’s why the story mode is all cutscenes, it would be a bit boring to just fight bedman as every member of the cast.
It helps that most of the GG games aren't predicated on some sort of tournament or some linear good vs bad setup, just various characters with various personalities with various desires and plans.
Yeah compared to Blazblue which has some absolute shitheads in the playable cast, just total bastard folks, Guilty Gear's cast is mostly pretty amicable.

God the scene where Ram comes back with Raven with Six Black Heavens Guns playing in the back hyped me up so much even with the narration.

It’s the most wholesome GG ending any character ever has and I pray we have Baker Venom as DLC with Roboky head as an assist.

I never played Guilty Gear, but I got interested in its lore after a few friends were talking about. I really enjoyed how it started with "let's throw everything that we feel it's cool" and then takes it to last consequences, up to questions of "what being a human means? what are dreams?" in a way that's actually fun to follow, and trading punches.
Really put in the pudding story too. Madlad.
You know how people will like, look at a series and say something like “remember when this was something cute and simple?” Like naruto fans will say “Remember when this was about ninjas?”
That doesn’t work for guilty gear. It’s “remember when this was about a soldier from the Holy Roman Empire fighting in the robo crusades with a femboy who killed people with a yo-yo?”
Well, it turns out the pope was a clown in that femboy is a trans girl now!
It's so funny that the thing that scares the shit out of both Ky and Sol is recognizing how they're related(Given the ties are a bit messed up).

Woolie deserves to be inserted into GG as a character, or at least his likeness. His character should be a historian of World of Guilty Gear, an expert in the field who can see patterns in each conflict, knows every significant figure of The Crusades and Beyond by name, and teaches other historians just how dangerous history - and repetition of it - can be.

That was a pretty good movie, I didnt realize the boss of Xrd was a female version of devil may cry 4 final boss. Im digging the lore, its better than most animes Ive seen lately. Now Im fully invested in Strive. I hope Sin comes back.

The main reason that I'm playing Strive now is because Wollie put in all the work this past year to pull back the curtain of the glorious work that is Guilty Gear. Thank you for an amazing series. It's stuff like this that makes me happy for well made/edited long form content.

First off, congrats on finishing this compilation.
Second, I am impressed. For a series that has spanned as long as it has with such complicated lore it manages to stick the landing dancing on the edge of over-contrived bullshit. Where lesser stories would've fallen off the edge a long time ago.
And I can honestly say there wasn't a single character I disliked given you can connect with them in one way or another.

Axl stopping time and that entire exchange with Sol is one of my favourite moments in the series. I’m so glad I picked up Xrd Rev 2 to catch up for myself before Strive released. Thanks for these recaps Woolie, I don’t think it can be said enough how much you have done for people hoping to get into Strive’s story.
Man, no wonder Strive's story arcs from an outsider's perspective always felt like 'self care: the video game'. I'd say the entire cast needed a good time for therapy after even a fraction of what happened in Xrd, not counting the entire rest of it!

I didn't know anything about these characters before starting these videos, yet Raven and Asuka's last conversation together coupled with that music brought me to tears. Amazing work on these man, you got me 100% invested in this world
Great series! I'm not much of a fighting game player myself, so while I'd heard of Guilty Gear I didn't know much about. I certainly didn't think it had lore as deep as all this, and these videos did a fantastic job of capturing both character and story beats for the uninitiated like myself.
I doubt I'll play Strive so would love to see a follow up to this at some point, though since Arc System sponsored this as an ad for Strive I can't imagine they would want for its story to be similarly summarized without playing the game. Still, props for a well made series and here's hoping for a follow up one day!

Won't be for a while, if at all. Strive is too new, and all stories related to it are as of yet not completed.

Robo-Ky showcases how to hide yourself while repairing yourself.
Using NO MERCY in the Final Confrontation between Ky and Sol - was just perfect - then HOLY ORDERS when Ky goes all out and finally summing it up with the BEST CREDITS THEME IN GAMING: TILL NEXT TIME from Guilty Gear XX - was an awesome touch. Love the GG XX Soundtrack!!! 💙👍👏

Hey Woolie, I wanted to thank you for making the lore so digestible and available, without you I wouldn't have known the details on some of my new fav characters in gaming like Zato.
I picked up Strive, my first fighting game in over a decade, and I am maining Zato in large part because of his story, which I would not know or appreciate in as much detail without you.
If I didn't know his story when I heard Let Me Carve Your Way, I may not have picked up the game, that song has so much emotion if you understand it, so really, thanks for helping me understand.
