    I never could really lose much weight. I didnt need to lose a lot, but diets never worked. The only thing that worked for me is Intermittent fasting. I just delay when i start eating. Once i start, i become more hungry...mainly because i didnt cut sugar completely out and that ends up boosting appetite. I can eat how i like to (and I eat a lot!) and i am slimmer. I still try to eat a salad every day. Once u go a distance without eating, you level out. I can say that this works because i do it.

    Thank you so much Dr. Becky for explaining this in an easy way. I’m 51 and have been on like a million diets the last 30 years. Keto and IF seems to be my way of changing my life for the better. I’ve watched your series of 0123 and find them very good. I’ve had and elevator weight for so many years because I always slip back into old habits once I’ve reached my weight goal. You and your videos have convinced me that I have to remove a book or two from my life shelve in order to fit the permanent weight loss book. I’m from Denmark 🇩🇰 so your wonderful videos reached as far as here. Once again thank you so much ❤️ my goal now is to lose 8 kg and stay on 79-81 kg for the rest of my life.

    The thing I've discovered about beans and pulses (which I eat every day) is that you should soak them for DAYS (not just overnight) before you cook them. Then I digest them with no trouble at all. They are so cheap and healthy, I'd encourage everyone to try this if they've had trouble with dried beans. They are ridiculously healthy!!

    I was doing keto under 50 but I was not really losing much. So then I went to 20 /4 fasting eating only from 9am to 1 pm. Still at 64 my body is fighting losing. So I moved up to fasting 24 hr . eating only at 1 pm everyday. I feel the best of all, I can still do all my work outs and started to also try carnivore . The weight is finally moving along. But I still have another 60 to lose. Should have from out about this earlier in life

    I am 82 years old type 2 diabetic and since adopting a 16/8 daily fast and low carb + reasonable fat diet I lost 18lbs in 8 weeks and reduced my insulin intake from 300 to 60 units per day. In the last 2 weeks I have reached a plateau in both weight and insulin. I am unable to exercise much and wonder if this plateau is due to this.

    Thank you for discussing the carb/fibre conundrum. I’m 67, recently diagnosed type 2diabetic with very low carb tolerance. I lost quite a bit of weight , am out of diabetes blood sugar range and other readings are now favourable. But my weight has stalled and I am still very overweight. My question is, if the low carb or keto diet requires so high a percentage of good fats, will that amount of fat prevent the body using up stored fat for fuel because it has all this new fat coming in? I’m sure there is an answer to this but it’s not clear to me,

    • @beckygillaspy
      @beckygillaspy  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Lynne, it is possible that your body will use dietary fat over body fat if it's available. It's important to have a well-formulated diet that provides you with the right mix of fat/protein/carbs

    • @lynneceegee8726
      @lynneceegee8726 6 лет назад

      Dr. Becky Gillaspy ah but that’s the conundrum isn’t it? The keto diet says around 80% fat. If you eat much less than that you don’t get ketosis or fat burning. What’s the answer?

  • @ssarge2
    @ssarge2 6 лет назад

    I've been doing keto since sept 1st. I'm female and 65. started it to lose 30 lbs. so far have lost about 15 and gone down 2 pant sizes. I am not a sweets eater so I don't miss that, but I have a couple of questions for you if you would be so kind as to answer them.
    1st: I try to stay under 20 carbs per day. gone off 3 times to indulge in wine, but that's pretty much all of my cheats.
    2nd : having a terrible time with leg and foot cramps at night. I drink plenty of water - take vitamins , but still have issues so getting a good night's sleep is VERY difficult.
    3rd. I track my intake in the my fitness pal free version. several times a week - I get the message that it can't forecast my weight loss because my calorie intake is too low. (usually around 800-900)
    4th: with a keto diet - If you calorie count is low - will it adjust and go into starvation mode like a typical low calorie diet? I tried losing weight that way, but never had any success. the less I consumed, the less I required, so it put me at a standstill. I seem to be slowing on the weight loss front and wonder what I'm doing wrong. IF anything? I started exercising a couple of times per week (vigorous walking for 20-30 minutes).

    Also, how long does it take for insulin resistance to turn around? I have been doing low carb under 20 and fasting plus exercise for
