Got my pen and notebook, and took detailed notes of your procedure. Thanks for helping me convert from the Wayne Dalton system to standard external springs. I couldn't have done it without your patient and descriptive instructions. Keep on making it happen. We appreciate it. I appreciate it.
Awesome video. I was able to go from a torque master plus system to a complete torsion system following your instructions. I thank you a million since by doing so I was able to save approximately $300.
Thanks, I was able to use this video to convert my broken torquemaster spring to the industry standard. I have a 16 foot door 9100 Wayne dalton door. I bought a conversion kit on ebay for 98 dollars. It came with everything except the spring bar. I bought that for 60 dollars. Works great. For spring winders. I bought a 36 inch peice of 1/2 inch rod and cut it in half with my Sawsall to get two 18 inch winding bars.
Just replaced the Torque master plus Springs today. They were broken, paid 198.00 for the whole kit. Replaced within 30 mins. The duty cycle for these Springs is 11k but I got close to 14k. The kit was expensive, maybe I’ll convert to something else if it breaks again.
Excellent video. I need to do similar. I see the Kit you bought but I don't see the actual bar that you mounted the springs on. Did this come with your kit?, or is this a separate purchase? I really appreciate the time you already took posting this video. Any addition information regarding the parts would be awesome. Thank you
Great video! I have this same problem with a house I just bought. Idrive that does not function. Could you add links to the Spring conversion kit that you used in this video. Thanks
I used DDMgaragedoor for my parts. they're online and have a lot of instructions online. Some of their parts are in the form of "kits", but mostly you'll have to determine the parts you need, including the springs you need, from the web site. They will probably help you on the phone, although I didn't ask for tech help. The reason I say they probably will be very helpful is because one of my projects was for a _very_ light door and they called me to verify the parts because they do not get requests for springs that light normally.
Josua... Great video...Thanks so much!! one question.. did you use the same tube from the Crapmaster or did you purchase a new tube? If the same tube did you run into any problems with the little hump on the outside of the crapmaster tube?
Bought the tube and springs from a local garage door installer. Just act like you know what you're talking about and they shouldn't have any problems selling you what you need.
That I drive does look cool, but I can see why it doesn't last long. installing an actual metal center bearing? somebody doesn't mess around. ;p When your springs wear out, an online place like DDM has a calculator where you can choose long life springs if you wanna pony up the extra dough. For my place, just used regular 10 year springs, but for another project, I got some mid-grade springs that should last about 40 years of "normal" use.
I have one you can have too.I just removed mine from the wall. It ran real slow, not sure if a spring broke or what. Worked good that morning. I live in Co.

Good morning, sir. Can you indicate which kit you purchased? Thank you and that is an amazing video
Don't trust the counter... back it off until the cable goes SLACK...
Excellent video, well done! Made what seemed a difficult job straightforward, thank you .
So what is the actual number for the complete conversion kit? I have a 14' x 7' insulated door. Didn't you have to weigh your door before ordering?
Do you have a link to the parts? The old link is just the winding bars. I know this is a very old video. Thank you
I bought a house that has a broken idrive. Im glad I found this vid. What size torsion bar did you had installed? I also have a 16' garage door.
Great video!

My Idrive garage door opener has been dead for 13 years and finally getting rid of it

New tube is required. Totally different size.
Thank you very much!! Awesome vid.
Joshua Vida where did you buy the tube?
You definitely need a new tube. The tube from the Crapmaster is not compatible with regular torsion springs.
Bought the tube and springs from a local garage door installer. Just act like you know what you're talking about and they shouldn't have any problems selling you what you need.

Excellent video I have a 16 foot wide by 8 foot high door looks like you have the same where did you get the one piece shaft from
Thanks Chris! Got that from a local garage door company. Just act like you know what you're doing and they should sell it to you no problem. ;)
@@ExtremeDIY Great advice! I got my 17 ft. torsion tube from Menards for about $25 in stock.
Question...are you using the existing bar?
No, it’s not compatible.
No, it’s not compatible.
Where did u gat the bar??
I would like to have the main board out of your I-drive, lighting got mine.
Sorry Steve! Threw everything away when I converted to the FAR superior Liftmaster 8500 and haven’t looked back. Not one problem since install. 👍🏻
I have one you can have too.I just removed mine from the wall. It ran real slow, not sure if a spring broke or what. Worked good that morning. I live in Co.
Where do you get all the parts for this conversion?
Didn't realize my link wasn't working anymore. I just updated it in the description.
@@ExtremeDIY Do you happen to have an updated link? The most recent link seems like it's only for the tension bars. Thanks!
CRAPMASTER!?!?!?
I think that's their new official name...
