Another excellent review here, Jack. 😀 Yes, with NSR then we are talking the business end of the slot car world. I picked up the initial yellow test car with this from a couple of years ago and then I picked the metallic blue Sears Gulf 12h livery from around a year ago. This car goes well with their Corvette C8R which came out last year. There's an array of oem tyre grade choices with these as well as different pinion and AW (angle winder) spurs to adjust the ratios. Meanwhile, NSR has just, finally, brought out a lighting kit (around 30 Euros) which requires a touch of solder and hot glue to affix. There's an NSR video here on YT for this. Oh, and then there are different grade chassis components and you can add a touch of weight to help adjust the handling distribution and so all in all it's a whole different grade in terms of the engineering compared to a Scalextric car. Finally, the additional grub screws are intended for under the front axles. Together with the ones which protrude in top down the idea is to adjust the height of the front axles above the track and, adjusting both sides in symmetry, have the front wheels just barely scraping the track. You can find NSR GT3s at less than £83 but even then my view is that the value in terms of fun and enjoyment and in terms of end driving satisfaction far exceeds anything Scalextric can currently throw our way for £57. I do have to say I am tempted by this Christian Klien livery get up too but, with NSR, then there is always a new one every six months or so. Enjoy!
Thanks Darren. Some great info here! I'm certainly getting more NSR and would be curious about the lights (for non-competitive racing). Thanks for watching!
Well done lads. Thanks for adding about the bagged grub screws. A lot of newbies might have also thought of them as spares. Only other little thing I caught was the rear meatal bearings Jack. Just for clarity they are not really bearings, but infact bushings. Big difference mate. The big thing with NSR as Darren touched on , is the tune ability of these cars by NSR. Pretty much everything can be upgraded or exchanged to give improved performance on different tracks. An otherwise excellent video Jack. I would like to know a bit more about the apparent crack in the rear tires. Is it just flash or indeed a downside in quality. All fixable at any rate. Cheers and keep up the good work. An enjoyable watch Bob
Rather than being "handmade" they are more likely hand assembled. The decals are more than likely tampo printed. They are an outright race car, meant to be tuned for high performance. The supplied screws are used to adjust the axle height in the chassis by screwing them into the small holes below the axle. The more you screw them in, the higher the axle will be and the lower the chassis will be to the track when it sits on the track. The lower the chassis is to the track, the lower the centre of gravity is and the more stable the car is. The cost of the car may seem excessive to some when compared to Scalextric or Carrera slot cars, but it is like the difference between a Ford Laser and a Porsche 911 - it is an out and out race car with everything on the car designed to enhance performance once the car is tuned. Once properly tuned, it is possible to take corners in the layout without hanging the rear end of the car out and loosing time as you circulate around the track.
Thanks for your insight here and confirming some of the questions raised in the video. It's a stunning car and I will certainly be getting more NSR in the future. Thanks for watching!
Since filming, it's gone through some proper testing and survived without a scratch, a very nasty crash. It's incredible! It just gets better and better.
I have about 25 of these, what you’re paying for is precision made parts. These chassis aren’t brittle which gives more flex and better handling , yes they’re simple, but it works. I’ve done 1000s of laps with my NSR with no issue, yet a few hundred laps from a Scalextric and it’s broken. These are a race car. We pay $120 here in Australia and $97 for a Scalextric which is nowhere near the level of these NSR cars .
@jacks_hobbies Thank you, I own one NSR and I love it. The rubber tyres make all the difference in my opinion. The pod is easy enough to set up. its definitly a great competative car.
Nice car, you will be hooked on NSR . All the Corvettes are good , each one has its own feel. The Porsche 917 is good fun without a magnet it’s very light. The Mozlers are good and the fastest they say. I tune them all without a magnet and then reinstall to rip it on my layout. I have the scalextric digital platinum set with the LCD timer , Wired controllers . In analog mode the NSR cars surge at low throttle because the motors draw twice the milli amps of the small block scaley motors. So it’s something to do with power distribution in analog mode is wonky. It’s just the big block cars with all the torque.
I think it's hilarious that instead of Pirelli P Zero moldings in the tire sidewalls, they have "NSR" molded into them. Also, the "red" in the description refers simply to the mirrors as the other iterations of #112 are different colour schemes altogether.
Yes they work on Carerra track. We have a 215 foot carerra digital track. We chip the NSR cars so we can use them digitally. We also put lights on them as we like to race at night
Does running the lights take power away from the motor, or is it just the extra weight? If so, you can always install them and disconnect a lead when you want to run in the daylight.
@ it’s just the extra weight. Trust me when I tell you it’s maybe a few grahams with the digital chip and the head and tail lights. You would have to be the most flawless driver to have it make a difference. The NSR cars and the Revo slot cars really run! Very high quality!
If all all slot cars came with lights that worked. And if clubs would enforce a rule where lights must be fitted. Then all would be even. As it stands there are no night races because not enough cars have lights. To me it is a no brainer. But then I like driving my cars at night as well as day.
Looks great until it moves…..then it just looks silly as the car may be to scale but the speed isn’t !😂. If you shrunk yourself down to the scale of the car and got in it the G force would kill you quite quickly I would imagine 😢
As someone that use to see these kind of hobbies and think what type of loser does it take to be into this type of hobby. After watching some videos seeing it for what it is I’m still right lol. I’m kidding. I absolutely get the appeal and I owe anyone into the hobby I great big apology. I suck so not a big deal. There is so much to this it’s quite cool.
Way way too much £ 😂 but then these things are 😂cos people buy them 😂 it's plastic with a motor 😂 they have been making these cars for 65? Years 😂 they are over priced 😅 but as long as they sell the price will Go up 😮
I think in comparison to some of the other brands, what you get it a lot more, for not much more. But yes... I remember when slot cars used to be a very cheap hobby! Thanks for watching!

@@robertchapman7773 Thanks for clarifying some of these! Did I say Bearings? What a muppet. Lots of good info here which I will learn from. Thank you!
Everyone uses "bearings", including model trains, when in fact they are bushings (solid metal with no moving parts).

NSR really do make some amazing slot cars!
They do! I just received another NSR today and I'm really looking forward to reviewing that one. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate your high end race track set up😂
Haha, yeah it's premium for sure :p Upgrades are inbound. Thanks for watching!
Happy you’re back your first videos were great
Stick at it
Thank you so much! That is great to hear!! Appreciate you coming back to watch after all this time.

Yes I agree, they are indeed a race car. It's just interesting to compare for new people to the hobby. Thanks for watching!
NSR are top tier, great review legend
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel. Great stuff🎉
Welcome and thanks for watching!

That's interesting about the power - worth some testing in the future. Thanks for watching!

Great review. We own 5 NSR cars so far. More on the Horizon! They are FAST
Oh yes! I've got a couple more since - they are amazing!
Good review, might upgrade
Certainly worth the upgrade! Thanks for watching!
Ive only bought one nsr and can only add is the red mirrors are so you can find them when they get yeeted upon the first accident.
Good idea, hah! Thanks for watching
It looks fab
It's stunning! Thanks for watching!
The extra screws, I am sure, is to adjust the front wheel axle hight to the frame.
After closer inspection, yes they are. They are spares which is great
Does it work on carrera track?
As far as I'm aware it should run, but you might need to adjust the front axle height. Which is just two screws - very easy! Thanks for watching!
Yes they work on Carerra track. We have a 215 foot carerra digital track. We chip the NSR cars so we can use them digitally. We also put lights on them as we like to race at night
Make a top gear test track, slot car leader board, standard cars vs modded cars. Etc.
You read my mind... plans are already in place. Thanks for watching!
Nice
Decent little motor! Thanks for watching!
@@jacks_hobbies You're welcome. 💪
I have one and run it a the London Scalextric club every Tuesday
Amazing car
Nice! I really must join a club again.
If you don’t drive at night you don’t need lights. Id and I need lights.
I just always think it's a nice feature to include, but I'm sure there's a way to install some. Thanks for watching!
You can install them. We have done it on the 5 that we own. There will many more in the future now that the track is “done”
Does running the lights take power away from the motor, or is it just the extra weight? If so, you can always install them and disconnect a lead when you want to run in the daylight.

Comparing apples to pears
Indeed - I'm just pointing out the difference for new people to the hobby - spend a bit more, but get so much more. Thanks for watching!
We chip ours and put lights in them. The weight is extremely marginal at best
Yeah it wont be much, although if your chasing lap times it will make a difference. But I like lights personally! Thanks for watching!
Looks great until it moves…..then it just looks silly as the car may be to scale but the speed isn’t !😂. If you shrunk yourself down to the scale of the car and got in it the G force would kill you quite quickly I would imagine 😢
Very true haha.

Deffo worth getting involved. It's a super fun and social hobby. Thanks for watching!

@jacks_hobbies 1982 a nice saloon racer £6😂😂😂
If it's like a real McClaren it will break down every other lap 😂😂😂😂
I'll have to compare it to my 1:1 scale McClaren..... ha, just kidding. Thanks for watching!
😂😂😂
Dude..get more track...most kids have better tracks than that 😂.
There is a plan in place :) Thanks for watching!
"McClaren"
McKlaren no? ;) Thanks for watching!
