    I agree 100%. The clip on the harbinger belt clipped my skin on my upper quad. Very painfull.
    I will have to get this yellow belt. Thanks for the info. Gotta love RUclips.

    Awesome video review! Would you recommend a medium or regular belt squat for squatting with 25kg plates with a chain and also for using with a low cable pulley? I'm 6'2" with 38" waist and 44" hips?

    Love your videos first time commenting I am starting to use belt squats and would love to know where you got your stands at? It seems like a perfect way to get more height and range of motion. I'm using a landmine anchored to jcup and landmine attachment or Henny straps in back. I can't get full range of motion and those steps are exactly what I need!

    I made a belt squat platform for in my power rack years ago out of plywood and 4x4's and I have been using the Spud Inc belt from the start. I also use for sled pulls. This thing is very well made and I think you could use it to pull a car out of the ditch! my only complaint is when I load it up with three hundred pounds or more the front straps really dig into my inner thighs and cause a lot of pain as well as into my iliac crest ( hip bones) .I wish it was made from a padded material I've tried wrapping towels around it which seems to help a little bit but it's just more stuff to screw around with. I even set up a tall box behind my platform and on box squats with it. It really is a good piece of equipment , very well built and is a great belt to pull sled. The material will soften up over time. I've had mine for years and other than that and being dirty it shows no signs of wear.

      Always appreciate a DIY project like that. If it makes you feel any better, even this model occasionally digs if you don't set it up just right (and it's the best squat belt I've ever used). Thanks for sharing, John!

    • @24hrs365
      @24hrs365 3 года назад +1

      Just read your post here. I have the same issue when i load over 300 the pain on the iliac crest is terrible. There is very little muscle along that area compared with a squat bar lying on your traps. So for now i fold a large towel about 4 folds thick and place it under the belt. This works ok but a lot of work to get it in place. I intend to talk to a guy who makes saddles for horses to see can he come up with a purpose made padded piece under the belt. It may be expensive but if it means being able to squat heavy it might be worth it.

    Cheers for the solid review, mate. Don't think I can get these in the UK, and Spud Inc have like a minimum order, like you have to spend $150 or something like that before they'll ship out here, but maybe I'll be able to pick one up some day.

    Don’t know how sizing is supposed to work on that spud belt or how much it supposed to hang with the weights on it . Would it be to big if u have a 34 to 36 in waist ? Is it a one size belt? Don’t know what size to get . Thanks!

    Will this work for teenager with smaller waste (26-28 inches). Great review, TY.

      Sorry, I thought I replied to this a while back but it must not have gone through.
      I'm sure it would be fine, but you might want to consider a smaller belt size. Might want to contact Spud Inc and ask them to be sure... They're very responsive. Thanks!

    How high do you have your platforms mounted off the ground? Wondering if I have enough room in my basement gym to do the same thing. Thanks.

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  5 лет назад

      Hey bud, my platforms are adjustable--they mount in my power rack (rogue r4) just like the jcups.
      That said, I usually have them 12-14" off the ground. Here's a video with the details of my platform:

    I have a spud inc belt as well and I've been doing pretty heavy belt squats with my own bench I fashioned myself so the weight just hangs down like yours does trouble is if I go 140 kgs to 160 kgs the next 3 days or so it feels like someone has kicked me in the kidney area in my back and it feels sore around the appendix area around the front right hand side does that happen to you .

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  6 лет назад

      kieran franey hey, that hasn't happened on heavy squats, however, going super high reps (30-50) @50% rm jacks me up pretty good

    Unfortunately can’t buy one as they won’t ship to Northern Ireland so have to get my legs cut to pieces using a cheap crap chain dip belt

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  5 месяцев назад

      That sucks. A cheap hack I used (mainly because I wanted to see if it worked) is a pool noodle over the chain. Cut a slit longway, and after you put the weights through, pop it on. It's not pretty or perfect, but I know it's better than what you're dealing with (from experience)

    Compared to what Ironmind wants for theirs it is a pretty good deal.

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  5 лет назад

      Wow--just checked their prices...I respect ironmind stuff for sure, but I really wonder what it could possibly have that Spud doesn't for half the price

    • @exothermic8525
      @exothermic8525 5 лет назад

      The higher price might have to do with it having more capability of hooking up to a barbell as well, that honestly kinda appeals to me since I have a harder time doing wide stance squats.

  • @AmorFati777X

    I just bought the belt and it sucks for me. The pain is pretty bad and I got screwed over with a close out version that I cant return.

    • @ThreeStormFitness
      @ThreeStormFitness  5 лет назад +1

      I'm really sorry to hear that. I'd imagine you'd have no problem reselling it (though you may have to take a small hit since it's "used"). I've had decent luck selling gear on Facebook marketplace (depending where you live, this niche item might take a little while, but the right person will jump on it the second they see it), and Amazon (95% sure Spud allows resellers, so it shouldn't be restricted). I'm sure Ebay is solid too; I just don't have much experience.
      I curious--if you don't mind sharing--what kind of pain are you experiencing? Is it back pain (or other joint/muscle), or is the belt itself causing discomfort?

    • @AmorFati777X
      @AmorFati777X 5 лет назад +1

      @@ThreeStormFitness it's actually a 3-ring version made specifically for rogue. I just finished talking with customer support from Spud about it and they say that row has had problems with that belt and the design is not something they even offer on their own site. It's actually a closeout item so Rogue won't refund me which is kind of bullshit, since Spud literally just told me that belt design sucks. And the pain is not really joint or anything it's just the belt eating into my legs like a fire. I have some bruises and my cheapo harbinger dip belt is dramatically more comfortable to use....

    • @AmorFati777X
      @AmorFati777X 5 лет назад

      This is from an email from Spud
      unfortunately it is not quite the same as our regular sized belt squat belt. Ours is 54" long. That style of "adjustable" belt was made specifically for Rogue, we do not sell that belt from our website. There have been many issues with the design they went with, and once again, we do not sell it ourselves
