We (me and wife) started with lactose free milk about four months ago and it has made a real difference. We are in our mid/late 60s and have eaten dairy produce all our lives and the decision to start using lactose free milk was an experiment as much as anything...precisely as an attempt to deal with my gas and bloating. We have now extended to lactose free spread (butter) and lactose free soft cheese spread. My wife had already gone gluten free some years ago, but I have not taken that step.
I have bloating and gas because I have IBS It is very painful 😣 I changed my diet started to drink hot water with lemon 🍋 in the morning before breakfast 🌄 and it help when you have a bad stomach it clear the air pocket that build up in the bowels . That's what helps me . Everyone is different it's finding out works for you.

I cut out wheat/gluten 100 percent! and I'm eating vegetables and meat at the moment (No dairy for me) my gas and bloating went from bad to normal in just a matter of days. I've been eating this way for close to a month now and the difference is night and day for me, even though I eat vegetables most meals including cabbage and sprouts.
I cured my constipation by repopulating my gut microbiome. That was the fix. Exercise helps me too especially movements that exercise the torso. Jogging is incredibly effective but top quality running shoes that fit are essential to protect the knees. Also working up to getting distance and speed needs to be slow. Jogging round the house for a few weeks first for instance then going for short easy jogs is what I do. Good to see tips about swallowed air and food though. It all helps. I avoid Lactose, Gluten, Alcohol, Caffeine and Nitrites(not nitrates) I also avoid foods high in vitamin K like brassicas such as broccoli and kale. I eat a very varied diet including fish, meat, veg, salad, blanched hazel nuts, fruit etc.
@@stellaadler120 Yes but it depends what you eat. Fruit, Sugar and carbs all ferment in the gut and produce gas. But incredible improvement. Back to normal. And any gas not so whiffy.
Hate it when people post free content. Also, my attention span is so miniscule I can't sit through 13 minutes without being distracted by some fluff on my carpet.😂
I admit I have a (diet) soda addiction. One glass rarely causes problems but when it does, it feels my stomach is going to burst. I also wonder, is it possible to be constipated even if you don't FEEL constipated? I sometimes feel I have a slow moving gut as far as gas goes, but in that time I'm passing stool at LEAST once per day.
I think a poor digestive system, especially slow, means you have lots of rotting food in your system leading to gas. Poor posture leads to swallowing too much air
This is so interesting because I noticed my stomach changed as soon as I started using sweeteners . I asked a pharmaceutical person if that could be the problem, and he said no....
Some pretty good tips. I feel like I’m not too bad on this now. But it’s definitely eye opening as far as all the things I did wrong when I was a bit younger.
I have bloating, All the time and don't eat artificial sweetners but have always eaten a lot of plant fibre. I really find Will's "start low, go slow" stuck in my head, I am guilty of fast eating and have undiagnosed IBS, so I have taken all your advice on board and will try to incorporate it into my new IF 9-10 hour eating window.
Never eat artificial sweeteners because I’ve never liked the flavor of sugar either. No processed food at all. Only fermented dairy. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, water, whole grains, legumes daily. Still have bloating and gas…..😢
Most fruit, veg bloats me. Keto no bloating. However occasionally I just want a prune or a date, or share a sandwich with my wife. I can do it once a week but that's it..
Roast potatoes lead to bowel gas within 20 minutes with me, Not french fries, Fish-shop chips or other potato preparations. The stomach contents will not have travelled far in that time, so some messenger molecule in the upper digestive tract must be passing on a signal to produce lower bowel gas. It may be some form of epoxidized fat on the crispy part of the potato.
I have a redundant extra long large colon which creates constipation for me. I live in Britain and I was dismissed by a gastroenterologist who didn’t even ask me my symptoms. As I don’t have ulcers or cancer they don’t care. 😢
I too have this, its really nasty and although it was dianosed many years ago with an endoscopy i too have been unable to get any help. I use buscopan to reduce the cramping, its saved my job as otherwise i am in too much pain to remain upright. Its very difficult to remain optomistic, a bad gut is very depressing.
One thing not mentioned is the effect of medication. I am on laxatives for life as well as warfarin , statins and beta blockers . Since starting the laxatives I have bad wind problems mainly at night . Peppermint oil tablets seem to help but they are not recommended long term.
I suffer from extreme bloating. I have no constipation as I go the rest twice per day before showers. I drink 2litres or more water per day. I don’t use sweeteners or sugars I do take milk products every day.
I think I might have SIBO (yeast/Candida and/or bacteria +/- archae) but I'm not so sure I do well with fermented dairy products and I might even do better with non-fermented dairy.
I don't know why it works for me but a glass of warm water with a spoon of cider vinegar and spoon of honey in it first thing in the morning... or another glass( though rarely needed) later in the day keeps my digestion in order.. And a small glass of water 5-6times a day.
Same for too. When I go on vacation, my daily routine and usual eating habits are out of sync and I tend to get a lot of bloating and constipation. I mean, one needs to try all the different food when on vacation right? But one time, I started drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with some water before every meal, and this really helped. I had hardly any bloating. And continuing to take magnesium daily even on vacation helps keep me regular and avoid constipation. I must remember to take apple cider vinegar regularly back home.....now that you mention it. So thanks for that
I deal with IBS and colostomy. Fiber definitely makes it worse for me. Have changed my diet immensely and it's better but still a challenge. Would love to know what pre and probiotics it would thrive on.
I would recommend the 'fiber fueled cookbook'. It is written precisely for your situation: more fiber is necessary as your pre-biotics - but for you, you're going to have to introduce them slowly.
All true but gut bacteria can play a huge role. So focus on the bacteria too get a huge diversity. Make your own Kefir from Kefir grains. Helped me and friends and family.

Why would stopping drinking alcohol, cause severe gas/bloating, & almost consistent loose stools/diahrea?? I eat a well balanced diet, and only have milk on my cereal in the morning. Any suggestions, or explanations??
I suffer from excessive gas that doesn't give me bloating as such but goes to press on a nerve on any part of my body and give excessive pain, when I try to relieve the gas, the pain start to go away. I have tried several things like exercises, alkaline food to remove acidity walks, but nothing has stopped it except that the gas shifts from one position it used to press to another position. Once it was my lower right hand side abdomen, then I thought I had appendicitis, but the doctor found out it was Gas, then it changed to my right side shoulder blade, then now on my left side hip. I don't take dairy for the past 15 years or more but still the gas won't abate. I don't experience constipation, our food in Nigeria contains a lot of fibre. So I wonder why I generate so much gas that travel to any part of my body and cause pain.
Sorry trying to drink hot water 1litre early in the morning and 1 litre afternoon before lunch and stay 45 minutes before eating and 1liter bed time for a long period you will see the result
If you eat a animal-based diet with little to no fruits and vegetables, you will experience no bloating or abdominal discomfort, because animal foods digest wholly and completely. It is the plants and more specifically the plant fiber that causes bloating, as plant foods need to ferment in the gut before they can be evacuated from the body. The fermentation process of plants is very taxing on gut health and is the root cause for leaky gut and other ailments in the gut wall.
I find that digestive enzymes taken before eating make huge changes in a number of causative factors such as constipation or reactions to foods that are high in inulin for example. This includes difficulty in digesting raw foods/cellulose.

What do you think aboit zeolithe powder to bind gas etc or histamine. Could that be beneficial to the gut or rather dangerous to use long time because it could lead to constipation?
I suffered from IBS for 25 years, with all the bloating, pain, irregularity, etc. etc. Based on a scientific paper I found I decided to try a zero fiber diet (ketovore). Voilà: all problems gone in a few weeks, exactly as the study results indicated. Humans have a zero requirement for fiber.
The gut bacteria love it though. But we all have a different mix of them. So what works for one person won't work as well for someone else. That's what I'm learning through Zoe. There really isn't a one size fits all
I constipation my whole life. I'm 68 and have diagnosed with cologamus colideus. I have liquid bowel movements with lots of bloating and gas, what can I do to help this situation? I have been taken off steroids but it still occurred.

I had worms that really messed up my intestines a couple of days ago. I had blood in my stool and had to take a poo every 5-20 minutes for the better part of two days. I couldn’t eat or sleep because of this. Well that hell finally ended but a new problem arose. My intestines are getting filled with gas and I can hardly let it out. There is so much pressure at times It feels like they will pop. Because of this I still have to get on the toiled but only every 30 min to an hour. I can’t sleep because of this. I haven’t had a good nights rest in more than 3 days. I’m never eating medium rare steak again.
I am having gas , bloating and feeling full most of the time. In my upper restpertory track I cannot pass the gas belch and have difficulty with this it feels very uncomfortably. Sometime I am gasping to breathe and I am now starting to feel nauseated. I have no gallbladder and a complete hysterectomy. What can I do to heal from this? My mouth especially my tongue feels dry as well.
I have the exact same issues. Unfortunately; not solved yet. I was diagnosed with gastritis months ago and also GERD. I also found out I have parasites as I saw them in my stool. You could also have parasites.
If it is swallowed air, how come it comes out for me, up to 18 hours later... belching. It does NOT go out the other end. There is no way in hell that it is air that I have swallowed due to the vast amount of gas I burped for hours on end (but always many hours after my last meal) and the fact that it comes out so many hours later instead of within an hour of eating each meal.... something doesn't add up here.
This is confusing... Every video and article on the internet, every doctor will say "eat fibre get the fibre in" but now you shouldn't consume fibre as it can make bloating worse?... What is the right awnser here? Make the digestive system work again by not eating dairy then over time slowly start eating fibre again?? Don't think thats gonna fix gas / bloating / constipation / reflux it's just bringing everyone back around the same loophole of finding out what to do only to end up going in circles.. it's as if there's no way of curing it, so they just repeat and lead on with half spoken points of info

Same here. These Zoe podcasts are interesting but the dietary advice is maddening; eat completely inappropriate food and then try to minimise the resulting sugar spikes and digestive problems. FGS just eat a diet suitable for a human - meat eggs, fish & a little full fat dairy if you don’t have an intolerance.
I watch these ZOE podcasts on nutrition just to see what mainstream is advising. Years and years of believing high fibre with plenty of fruit and vege was the answer but left me with painful gas and IBS. Since going NO PLANTS my guts are peaceful and happy. For me carnivore is the answer. Microbiome seems to be quiet and happy with only minimal fibre. Glad to hear them admit that fibre can make guts worse 😊
When I was a vegetarian I had regular bowl movements, but had several health issues. Now I’m the carnivore diet (eating grass fed beef, egg yolks, raw milk with kefir, organic fruits and raw honey) I’ve had constipation. I’ve stopped drinking liquids when I’m eating. Apparently it effects the digestion juices.
I'm just looking into this and my understanding so far is that is a temporary diet for when your microbiome is imbalanced to begin with, or you have something like SIBO where bacteria is in the wrong place (small intestine). Once I guess you kinda starve, I guess the "wrong" bacteria out, you start to add things back in slowly, to allow your microbiome to adapt. You do need some fiber. I guess though with SIBO you're also given an antibiotic.
This made me think about when you change an animals food, you are always recommended to introduce it slowly. Build the new food amount up slowly. Yet we tend to go for a normal size portion of something new then wonder why it causes issues!

Ann Darling I relate. It’s very debilitating the pain and bloating 😢..
I get bloated when I get upset and stressed. It usually happens after I calm down
Thats me. My job is killin me. Stuck in one spot for 12 hrs. The sound of the heart alarms makes a giant painful gas ball in my stomach.
I get very painful splenic flexure syndrome from gas/bloating, keeps me awake often. thanks for the series to help me rebuild to manage good foods better, recently changed to WFPB, so FODMAP heavy would be the order of the day. I truly appreciate this guidance Erythritol causes serious issues for me when trying to use stevia or monk fruit to sweeten I have to find some without!
Since I started a well formulated ketogenic diet; no bloating, no constipation, very little gas
Can you recommend anyone's RUclips channel for keto advice?
@@ellie698 I got my start from the Diet Doctor website
,I'm exceptionally healthy for the self-destructive lifestyle I've most recently retired ,I've been non cardiac arrest ,non obesity and many other issues due to an attitude and I suspect divine guidance and now I'm absorbing knowledge if possible
I cut out wheat/gluten 100 percent! and I'm eating vegetables and meat at the moment (No dairy for me) my gas and bloating went from bad to normal in just a matter of days. I've been eating this way for close to a month now and the difference is night and day for me, even though I eat vegetables most meals including cabbage and sprouts.
vegetables cause gas and bloating for me. Eating bread is the only thing that stops it
Thanks so much my kids will feel better now from bloating stomach. Good information 👍
I've been following Zoe for 5 months now, I like what I eat but I have more and worse gas than I ever had previously
It happens as we get older. It's a good idea to cut out foods one at a time to see which ones seem to cause the most trouble.
Did your gas go away?

So those bloat you, right?
What about honey? Do that bloat you? Or one or two dates?
Thanks
I find taking psyllium 3 times a day improves my digestion though it does increase the bloating. thanks for the video!
Some pretty good tips. I feel like I’m not too bad on this now. But it’s definitely eye opening as far as all the things I did wrong when I was a bit younger.
This subject need much more in depth coverage.
I have same problem... thanks for the message
Hello beautiful how are you doing and how is the family 👪 doing then
😊🎉😂🎉
Has the bloating gotten better and do you take mesalazine as well.
This gives me hope that i have gas and bloating, not appendicitis (i feel no pain but have almost similar symptoms to it, without fever, etc)
same
Never eat artificial sweeteners because I’ve never liked the flavor of sugar either.
These guys could be brothers.
I really am snookered! With HFI I have a very limited diet. I have minimal fibre. I do consume kefir and live yoghurt on a daily basis.
Same in Australia. I live in agony.
Doctors just tell you to drink more water. I can’t because of major bloating and pain.
Thanks for that educative conversation. I experience gas movement in my stomach particularly at night.
Some to me
The feeling is so uncomfortable...what do you do about it?
One thing not mentioned is the effect of medication. I am on laxatives for life as well as warfarin , statins and beta blockers . Since starting the laxatives I have bad wind problems mainly at night . Peppermint oil tablets seem to help but they are not recommended long term.
Try taking magnesium. Works for me everytime I'm constipated, achy, sleepless..

I suffer from extreme bloating. I have no constipation as I go the rest twice per day before showers. I drink 2litres or more water per day. I don’t use sweeteners or sugars
I do take milk products every day.
You have a silent contipation. You are just not aware of it. You can have perfectly normal bowel movements and still be constipated.
I think I might have SIBO (yeast/Candida and/or bacteria +/- archae) but I'm not so sure I do well with fermented dairy products and I might even do better with non-fermented dairy.
Correct insulin resistance all problem solved eat when you are hungry walk daily half hour avoid all sugary foods and drinks
I don't know why it works for me but a glass of warm water with a spoon of cider vinegar and spoon of honey in it first thing in the morning... or another glass( though rarely needed) later in the day keeps my digestion in order.. And a small glass of water 5-6times a day.
Great advice thank you 🙏
Same for too.
Yes
I would recommend the 'fiber fueled cookbook'. It is written precisely for your situation: more fiber is necessary as your pre-biotics - but for you, you're going to have to introduce them slowly.

Im a mouth breather and I have terrible gas. I'm always belching and burping. Without any research I figured that the mouth breathing was the cause. When I started telling others, they literally laughed at me.

Strange that the chemicals used on the plants we eat are prohibited in the EU yet there is no mention of this as a component of GI problems.
I noticed that not long after drinking hydrogen water I have virtually no issues with gas and bloating anymore no matter what I eat .

Fiber 🤦🏻♀️ I have more problems with fiber, pains, bloating ,gas. Increasing Magnesium & Healthy animal Fats👍🏻 No Bloating, No Pain& No Gas. I keep fiber at a minimum small amounts & maybe 2xs a month

When i'm constipated i eat ripe papaya and it works for me.
Dragon fruit juice, papaya and cutting down on refined carbs (such as white rice, bread) may help relieve constipation
Do you drink a lot of water
Same with me. I expirience that now
@@jeanbartrum2773 yes I do

Everything I eat or drink cause bloating except eggs, sourdough bread, and applesauce. I look pregnant by the end of the day and am 65.
If I eat my 3 main foods then no problem. Other foods then bloating
Like zenpep? I take that but I’ve never tried it before food.

My very best friend has an enormous problem he loves spicy food and is a garlic glutton not to mention he drinks too much beer and wine . I’m seriously considering an text relationship only as my wife says he has turned our couch cushions green and doesn’t want him in the house. What can I suggest without hurting his feelings ?
Tell him the truth. He doesn’t seem to care about anyone else’s feelings.
At 60 he should know how unpleasant it is for other people, he is selfish since he is doing it deliberately there is no point in sugar coating tell him how disgusting his behavior is and if he gets upset leave him alone why do you to baby sit an adult
Give him some charcoal tablets
Just don't invite him round ever again.

I have to tell you that not all people suffer from constipation, when they have gas and bloating.
I get terrible sick, when I eat Airline Food, when traveling. I have to take my own food, otherwise I have intestinal distress, gas , bloating and during the flight I spent much time in the toilet. I do not have constipation at all.

What do you think aboit zeolithe powder to bind gas etc or histamine. Could that be beneficial to the gut or rather dangerous to use long time because it could lead to constipation?
I’m nine months bloated and I will be going to a very remote area and letting loose.
Óllllpghh
I eat heaps of fibre and don't get gas, especially smelly gas. Any smelly gas is an indication of something not right. Guess whatever works
The gut bacteria love it though.
But we all have a different mix of them. So what works for one person won't work as well for someone else.
That's what I'm learning through Zoe. There really isn't a one size fits all

I have the problems 😢
Simethecone pills help or charcoal pills. Walking helps. But yogurt or oats or fiber no help. Fruit just more gas. Am same boat seems. Bummer😕
You should probably ask the doc about bioidentical estrogen and progesterone.....Not the pharmaceutical hormones!!
Maybe it's acid reflux or gastritis?
I have the exact same issues. Unfortunately; not solved yet. I was diagnosed with gastritis months ago and also GERD. I also found out I have parasites as I saw them in my stool. You could also have parasites.
Does DR. B still take fiber supplements and if so which ones are recommended?
My problem is people close to me when am fine I have nothing to worry about
My back passage doesn't open enough for pooo to come out either and get shooting pains when bowel fills up
If it is swallowed air, how come it comes out for me, up to 18 hours later... belching. It does NOT go out the other end. There is no way in hell that it is air that I have swallowed due to the vast amount of gas I burped for hours on end (but always many hours after my last meal) and the fact that it comes out so many hours later instead of within an hour of eating each meal.... something doesn't add up here.
Is the natural sweetener, stevia, as bad as artificial ones?
Weird part is today i hv diarrhea and bloating at the same time while BO on my bed early morning

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis This interview it’s sumptuous are so similar. What helps??
This is confusing... Every video and article on the internet, every doctor will say "eat fibre get the fibre in" but now you shouldn't consume fibre as it can make bloating worse?... What is the right awnser here? Make the digestive system work again by not eating dairy then over time slowly start eating fibre again?? Don't think thats gonna fix gas / bloating / constipation / reflux it's just bringing everyone back around the same loophole of finding out what to do only to end up going in circles.. it's as if there's no way of curing it, so they just repeat and lead on with half spoken points of info

I've never had any gas or bloating since changing to a hyper carnivore diet. Simple!
@@annettestephens5337 yup. Fibre & vegetables cause bloating. Getting really tired of Zoe
I have pain and also bloating
