    If you hold shift before clicking accept the goods will only be loaded if the island has more then the set amount to load. meaning if you set it to 30 and the island has 40 the ship will load 10.

    The only question but very important question from me is this...... Let's say I am making 4 snaps on one island but that island only demands 2, while on another island I need 2 snaps to fulfill demands. How can I figure out how many I can send with my ships? If I only send 2 at a time it wont cover their needs, and the ship takes time to go from 1 island to the other, so how can I calculate how much surplus I will have from when the ship leaves and until it comes back to pick up more?
    Hope my question made sense.
    And also how do you suggest making concrete if my iron mines are already making weapons or sewing machines?

      I somewhat agree. I went forever in first playthrough wondering when Trading Posts were going to unlock in the build menu so I could go set up on another island. Had no idea any ship with a few lumber & steel beams can set one up without any prerequisites (other than needing to get steel production going, of course). By the time I saw this in someone's YT video, lol, most of the choice islands in both worlds had already been gobbled up by Beryl.

    I know it's a bit of an older video - but have you ever considered whether wind might affect trade efficiency? Especially since you can set up directions between destinations, which is obvious to use to avoid patrols or pirates. But might also benefit if there's a certain way the wind tends to go to create favorable speeds.

    OK so there is something that I don't get yet: Why should I use trade routes at all?
    When you click on the resources in your storage you can select a specific amount of that resources that you always want to have in your storage. The AI will then AUTOMATICALLY sell all excess resources until you hit that specified amount and it will also buy the resources for you until you hit the specified amount.
    The AI will use their own ships for this. You don't have to micro manage Trade Routes at all and still get the resources you need and the money from trade.
    So what is the point of organizing these routes? Is it more efficient? Do I get more money that way? Is it faster? There has to be some purpose to it, I'm sure that I just didn't get it yet.
    If anyone could answer me this please. that would be great.

    • @joshuachong5204
      @joshuachong5204 5 лет назад +4

      When you use trade routes, it is transferring goods from one port to another to supply your one island or another. (Mostly to supply one island or another. ie. soap to one island that don't produce (or if you choose not to produce because you want to maximise desirability in one island, or where one island cannot produce it at all like copper or coal or limestone)
      Setting the 'selling excess' is to generate cash for yourself, so this does not move goods from one of your islands to another.
      The charter routes are to 'pay a neutral ship' to help you transfer goods from one of your islands to another and can only carry one type of good (This gets expensive towards the late game because each is 50 cash(not much) AND 5 reputation (This is the costly bit because everything high end needs reputation in late game)
      The organising is important because in late game, when you own like 5 or 6 islands across both the New and Old World, things can get rather messy to manage all the goods. Especially in the New World where you might want to make 'intra-New World routes' like supplying coffee or bananas in all your islands in New World'. This is especially important because space is really limited (everything in the new world is a farm-extensive resource or another so you can't maximise one without another farm). And you also need to supply luxuries like Rum or Coffee or Gold to the Old world to produce gold bars or supply your higher tier residences. Without organisation you'll find yourself on a click frenzy finding out which route is which (remember at later stages you also need to protect your routes by escorting a frigate or gunboat or two on your important routes from pirates and enemies (espeically your Rum and Oil routes).
      I hope this lengthy post helps.

    I started using airships that I send manually to islands to pick up the highest value items I can get to trade for as much as I can. Would be nice if there was a buy anything option tho so it can just bring whatever if it constantly changes the item goods. 8 slot cargo cuts down on how many transport vehicles I needed to send out.

    Short summary: Trade routes in Anno 1800 are pretty bad. Trade ships will happily go into enemy port. You can set way points for local routes only. Ships to other regions can only have a dummy port destination to act as a waypoint. NPC trading is more hassle than its worth since what they accept changes all the time. Good guide though

    • @IcyyMike
      @IcyyMike  5 лет назад +3

      Yeah, this maybe a future topic on this channel. In general, building more houses and keeping happiness up keeps them full thus more taxes (income). When you upgrade tiers it requires a large amount of other goods to keep them happy again, so keep this in mind before upgrading. You want a very large surplus before upgrading. Lastly, maximize your production efficiency, only build what you need to keep them happy. Anything more is a loss due to the maintenance. Hope that helps!

    • @ClemsonASC
      @ClemsonASC 5 лет назад +1

      @@IcyyMike this is how I feel about it, but doesn't that ruin the trading? It's not worth creating a surplus of a product to trade because you'd rather not pay the maintenance. Maybe I'm not trading the right stuff yet.
