- Edge ware in Cycles for Blender is easy, but there is a work around for Eevee and here is a short video on how to do it. If you haven't already, just subscribe.

Yes! I just needed the first part, to figure out how to make darkened edges. Other videos I've seen said you could only do that in cycles! So thank you!
Markom! You're bonza! A true genius my friend! This is so concise and so straightforward and gives a really nice result with minimal time spent and a node setup that doesn't make you want to go off like a frog in a sock! Edge wear in Eevee can be tricky and this is the best solution I've found so far. You're a legend mate!
We Love Eevee
It looks to be perfect to work with crystals, i tried and i cannot reach all the edges. At least the result was better than i could ever do by myself. Thank you.
i love eevee and this make me subs to your channel
by far the most easiest and effectiv way to edge wear or how this style called - perfect work ! thanks Sir ! ( tried some older one, but this is best so far)
I couldnt get the noise texture to contribute to the party so I ended up using a MixRGB set to Multiply with the factor turned up to 1 and that seemed to do the trick pretty well.
EDIT: Turns out its because i had the Color socket of the AO node connected instead of the AO socket. Works now but MixRGB does also work.
Yo where can I get the add on for those texture previews on each node?
Very quick and easy tutorial! It makes me believe I. too, can do it.🤣 Great job. 👍
How would I change the color of the edge? I tried to that in the color ramp and ambient oc node but it’s still white
before the principle bsdf, add a mix RGB, then the multiple value to factor, then switch the colours of the A and B option to the main color and the edge wear colour
Big Thanks, Legend!! 🙏🏾
When I zoom out I can no longer see the edges anyone know why this happens?
Same. If it was like alpha textures node, id simply change the interpolation from default linear to closest.
Thats because eevee In blender Use SSAO (Screen Space Ambiant Occlusion) meaning anything that not in veiw of the Camra won't be affected by Ambiant occlusion.
how do u show those material preview squares? im new to blender XD
X2
@@fernandosalgado7058 It's a paid addon. "Node Viewer"
WTF DUDE!?! You are crazy. Thank you so much 🙏
If you animate the scene the edges will change as the light changes. AO is not good for edge detection.
your node dosent offer two textures....any texture i add is just bright white
You’re amazing dude 😁⚡️
Thanks You Very Much. Worked.
its view dependent. this does not work. you need to bake.
Wonder why in older blender this looks quite different. I tried it with blender 2.83 and get some sort of specular falloff.
Thank you thank you so much that going be really helpful
THANK YOU
thanks so much
Great video
Does it work for cycles as well?
@Felicia White thanks, I'll try
@@uzairbukhari99 I think you'll want to try: 1 - dot(bevel, geometry normal). It works ok for convex edges, but unfortunately the bevel node bevels concave ones as well. They really should add an option for concave/convex/both to it...
Thx
thanks man .
If anyone is wondering how to colour the edge wear and the body
before the principle bsdf, add a mix RGB, then the multiple value to factor, then switch the colours of the A and B option to the main color and the edge wear colour
thanks!
Markom 3d Hello. Eevee and nothing happens in cycles. blender 2.92 I use.
Does not work as normal map sadly!
It doesn't work in 2.90?
literally never happens
Why not just use geometric node?
You probably found the answer by now but this is for eevee, the geometry node only works for cycles
@@slimetunersis5373 I'm a bit confused. Geo nodes affect the mesh and usually isn't dependent on the renderer. If we're talking about the Geometry node, it works on both Cycles and EEVEE.
@@joefish818 there are a few nodes dependant on cycles that wont work with eevee
@@slimetunersis5373 I'm not aware of these nodes. I know the shader nodes have some like "Shader to RGB", but I didn't realize Geo Nodes also had renderer specific nodes. I though it just affected the mesh's geometry.
What are the squares above shaders?
It's a (commercial) add-on called "Node Preview". Worth the price IMO if one does a lot of procedural shader development or finds learning it painful.
how to add own texture instead of white color?
The guys mentioned something about adding your own texure
Use a Mix Color node, and put the result from Ambient Occlusion onto the factor
nice
you did not show us how to add the materials T_T
I searched eevee mask and this is the first result
one problem, i cannot use colours other than black and white
same :(((
@@izzulazrizal702 for real.... come on... you just have to utilize a mix color set to add, edge wear comes in the B socket... it wasnt that hard
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 Lots of things aren't that hard AFTER they're explained. We aren't all born speaking computer language.
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks just a bit of trial and error would have worked
@@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120An explanation works orders of magnitude faster.
use the monkey. Give strange effects
Cool bananas 🤣🤣🤣🤣
it didnt work?
Is that a question?
Thank you 🙂
How to change the colour?
simplest way to do that is with color ramps
@@Andybananas can you be a bit more specific please?
@@izzulazrizal702 well once you place a color ramp it should be quite self explanatory but ill try my best. so to add the color ramp node you first go into the add section and search for color ramp. then how it works is quite simple, it takes a height map(black and white) and uses the gradient you see on the node to change the color depending on the grayscale value. how to use it is also really simple, you move the arrows around to your liking and change the color in the box with a flat color below the gradient, and to add new colors you press the plus button on the top left of the gradient and minus to remove selected arrow. i hope this helps!
