Great reaction and Forbidden Tale is (at laest for now) my favorite. You're correct, it feels like an evolving story that builds to the finality of the beautiful vocal harmonizes.
“Forbidden tale” and “The one” are my two favorite from this album. It’s like being in a fantasy world on a journey to find the meaning of life but it also comes with side quests, flashbacks and making friends on the way.
In a new barks interview they explain that Saiki wanted a song with a lot development which prompted Kanami to come up with Forbidden Tale. Also great observation with Akane, she explains in the interview that she toned down her drumming to emphasise the melody and not clutter the song.

I'm surprised that Saiki wrote the lyrics for this song. Check out Toi et Moi, the lyrics sound very straight forwardish like Saiki's yet it's written by Miku 😂 Actually, this album has already become my number 1. To be honest, WD never was my favourite. I loved play and Anemone, but preferred Yolo single and Just Bring It more. Conqueror was my second fav, with diversity and a lot of experimentation. UW also was bold and experimental and I loved it, but less diverse and balanced. This album though, while more catchy than UW, still managed to be experimental, with nice, mid-tempo songs, is well balanced. Two collab songs are so well placed that it's kind of like part of the story that you can actually appreciate. It still have the element of JBI, WD, Conqueror and UW, in a more mature way. I think.
