This is an EP project for the TV anime series 'Why Nobody Remembers My World,' which started in mid-July in Japan. The song, including its lyrics, is tailored to be the anime's opening theme. The costumes and the MV's background reflect the anime. It's like U.F.O.-U feel Overjoyed. It was a project for Nissan Noodles, just like Unholy Orpheus and Quadratum were projects.

Unchained and Soul Defender are bothe good songs but not written by Miyako. Moa(Mao?) put there a big Commercial Style in. I can understand it(they have to make Money) but should this be the new Lovebites????

This song "SOUL•DEFENDER" is very powerful. There is an original rhythm and melody of LOVEBITES, and it's very groovy. Above all, the rhythm team is great！Fami's base arrangement is effective and wonderful. The English subtitles are also very cool, and the video composition is also very innovative. From now on, LOVEBITES has started to jump into the world. 🤘😎🐎💨

Yeah, wasn´t a big fan of Unchained either, but this one really kicks a.. again imo 🤘🙂 And don´t worry, I´m sure there´ll be plenty of individual solos again in the future, I mean, it´s one of their trademarks, isn´t it 😉

I agree, this is a step up from Unchained. No complaints from me about the dual guitars (but hey, I'm an Iron Maiden fan) - it's actually a real challenge to write them in a way that works well, much harder than writing two individual solos. My one negative is that this was definitely not the song to pick for a lyric video. It doesn't usually bother me when they go through power metal cliches in their lyrics, but when the video puts it so much in my face, it does detract from the music a bit. They have other songs that tell an interesting story, or convey more complex ideas.

According to a recent interview in the Japanese magazine Gekirock, the "centerpiece" of the EP will be the fifth song "Someone's Dream", which is about themselves more or less and will feature a solo part for each member. I agree with you that the solo sections of both songs would have profited from individual solos, even brief ones. I noticed some "dual only" solos already on Judgement Day (Victim Of Time), and I wonder if they're not exaggerating it because they're known for it. (Also it's less work.) I love this track, it's probably one of my favourites by them and I love this particular live version of it as well. As far as Zutomayo goes (which is a shortened name, thechnically the name is ずっと真夜中でいいのに。 -> Zutto Mayonaka de ii Noni. -> I wish it was midnight all the time), I am not sure but I think it's the whole group. That said the players shift around depending on the release and liveset, only ACAね (the vocalist) is a steady member and I am pretty sure the main writer, although I believe she gets help from a producer. She used to be a singer-songwriter from what I have read even though she always hides her face so it's difficult to say for sure. As far a the TV's go, they do make sound. You can check out the channel "ELECTRONICOS FANTASTICOS!" who created those drums (and other instruments that are used on Zutomayo's stage) and who also perform them live for Zutomayo. The have videos on the TV's specifically. I believe the tapereal is a different Japanese group, but I forgot their name (I am sure people will add it in the comments).

ZUTOMAYO (Zutto mayonaka de iinoni) is the whole band but the musicians are not always the same. The only permanent member is the singer ACAね (Akane). She also wrote the lyrics and compose most of the songs. She’s helped with the arrangements by other musicians. The next song is my favorite from this EP. Yes, the TV drums guy is really playing. I got into a lot of other Japanese bands after this one, so while I still appreciate these guys it's cool to explore all the other crazy good artists out there too

As Maarten mentioned below and I put on a previous video, Kotono singing for Koiai partly has it's origins in a Polyphia cover they did in Sept '22. When performing this song live both Hazuki and Li-sa provide some backing vocals in places. The Polyphia influence is conscious, Li-sa-X has toured with them solo as the opening act for their Japanese shows several times, first when she was 12-13 and most recently earlier this year. Tim & Scott also guested on a song from her first solo record, 'Cha-la Head-Cha-La', which was released back in 2017.

I agree with the Polyphia comparison, though I like it more than any Polyphia-with-vocals I know. Interested to hear what you make of the next one, "A New Picture". It really needs multiple listens and there is an official live version.

They have done a Polyphia cover in the past (ABC). I think just before they renamed themselves to Koiai from Li-Sa-X Band since was already with Kotono on vocals, so there is no question they know Polyphia. That video is titled: "Polyphia - "ABC" feat. Sophia Black / covered by Kotono, Hazuki and Li-sa-X". It's a good fit since the track features some Japanese if I remember correctly. For the track you reacted to, I can personally use "real" sounding drums over these fake/electronic sounding drums, but I guess that does add to the Polyphia vibe and it's something a lot of bands like to use nowadays. Overall I do enjoy this track.

I guess it's not that easy to find 2nd guitarist, especially when they've already got such top notch line up. Sakura is leading one, she wants someone for harmonics, someone with enough skill. And probably without overblown ego, that's my assumption, cause 2 dominant guitarist in the same band will probably ruin it, unless they share their roles properly))

2:13 Because this is indeed a soundtrack of a movie (not anime) that is if I'm not mistaken and when they do a soundtrack for anime, movies etc. I noticed they tend to incorporate those melodies, perhaps to appeal to a general or mainstream audience.

A lot of Zutomayos music reminds me of the Persona 5 soundtrack for some reason, which is probably why I kept checking them out since I love that soundtrack (and it actually is the music that got me importing stuff from Japan, way before discovering the Japanese rock and metal scene, the game is also what made me start learning Japanese). I think it's because the Persona 5 soundtrack in particular is very Acid Jazzy/Funky and like a lot of the newer Persona soundtrack (starting from 3), it has a lot of different elements as well like some hiphop and rock elements and Zutomayo tends to use those genres as well. Edit: I don't know what that "live" thing was, it might have been a covid thing since there is no audience, but it might very well be a soundcheck/lightcheck like you said.

The beginning sounds really like AC/DC, but it's still a fun song with a cool and relaxed mood.

To me it comes across as AC/DC/Queen/Van Halen wrapped up in a pop song.

Not really my thing either, it's well done, but I find it pretty boring (especially the chorus). The solo is okay and I honestly like the track better than most from their first EP, which was more electronic/poppy from what I remember (I have push myself to give it an other listen to make sure).

Wait, did you just forget to do the official live video? The drums are a little better than the studio version. Also, the solos remind me of Van Halen. The next song “A New Picture” is my favorite from the album. Don’t forget to do the official live video this time 😁 And it was even my favorite song they’ve released but their newest song “Come see me” is now my favorite. When I first heard it, I was like “yes, this is it. They have finally found their sound.” It would be great if you could check it out when you finish the EP 😉
