      Exactly, we quite literally live in the Battle Network timeline right now. Everything being internet connected, whether it has a good reason to be or not? ✅ Everyone carrying around pocket-sized devices that are required to function in daily life? ✅ A large portion of criminal activity taking place entirely digitally, where a single hack can ruin the lives of thousands? ✅ The only parts we're missing are AI advancing to the point of true sentience (ChatGPT and its ilk are more of protoform Mr Progs than actual NetNavis), and a worldwide-known criminal organization trying to destroy the cyberworld (we have a few candidates, but none are even remotely World Three tier just yet... thankfully).

      @@tonyveron I got BN4 Red from GameStop so it was pre-played, and I think they saved right at the final boss. I had no clue what was going on so I new gamed it. But just playing through it, something to me as a kid just felt off - almost like it was a knock off game (I think it was the art style change from 3 to 4, and not the bad dialogue). Then I got stuck on some part and just didn’t pick it up until I met a friend that knew the game and found the hidden back alley or something to get to the next part. But by that time I was out and traded the game with him for Metroid Zero Mission.

    • @ZestuboArchfiend
      @ZestuboArchfiend Год назад +2

      @@orangegalen Yeah, as much as I love the Battle Network series. BN4 is the black sheep of the family, I won't even hear otherwise. The fact that most of the scenarios were trash. Dang, nostalgia is strong. I went on to steam and bought this title before you were halfway done with the video. I will now resume your beautiful work, Scott.

    I made sure to hang on to my original GBA carts of BN2 and 3 in particular, so I'm admittedly more excited Capcom re-released the anime on RUclips! I remember the show would only air at 2 pm where I lived, so I had to make ABSOLUTELY sure my Mom would let me come home on Friday (which of course was the only school day that let me go home before 3) so I could even have a CHANCE of watching the show after the long drive home. Of course, my Mom would often foil my plot by getting into LONG, lively conversations with the other parents that would force me to not only miss the show, but remain on school grounds until 5 pm!!
    If this goes on sale, though (preferably the Switch version), I would love to finally give 1 and 6 a try. Never got a chance to play the very first Battle Network and I unfortunately slept on 6 because 4 and 5 left such an awful taste in my mouth, that I assumed 6 would be divisive-at-best as well. I was clearly on the wrong side of history...

    Love these games so much. Having a blast with them on stream and while playing the first I was reminded how little these games hold your hands sometimes. "Go find this thing" where is it? "Somewhere in town, just check everything"

    It’s not surprising 6 is the strongest with PvP, because it’s not only the best balanced for such, but had a fairly healthy community playing competitively before the collection was released, which translated into the collections.

    I played through BN1 and maybe half of BN2 on WiiU Virtual Console, and those have some good memories - I still think I prefer the classic platformers, but it’s great to see this side of the series getting some deserved attention.

    One of my most nostalgic things about the Battle Network was when I was netbattling my friend at school on MMBN 2 and we both came to the same conclusion that whomever got the Gateman chip fusion first won so we was always rushing to try and grab the combo before the other. Such good times.

    I grew up playing the battle network collection, 3 was my first game I ever bought for myself, and i played that game for nearly 100 hours when I was young. Me and my brother both had the opposite versions of 5 (me with protoman/him colonel) and it still holds a special place in my heart for that. I'm so glad to see that so many others love this game series too ❤❤
