I still lament the fact they didn’t name ganon “organon” .
Come on! It’s a game where every other boss is a pun! Why can’t the final boss be one! And it’s so obvious too!
Came here to say this. Gannondorf even plays the organ in OoT.
@@GameAlicornLuna that’s what I’m saying! He plays the organ in one of if not the most popular game in the series!
It’s a no brainer!
If I recall correctly, apparently they did want to name him Organon but they couldn't due to Nintendo being a dick with copyright. Shame.
Maybe saying 'Ogre Ganon' could have fixed it
@@willphoenix5464 I did figure that was probably it. Didn’t want their ip being fiddled with too much. Although it’s funny to think they drew the line at renaming the series final boss for an outing.
Honestly, Maybe I should just be happy the game even exists as it does. That one of my biggest gripes is just that they didn’t make a bad pun.
@@AnimatedTerror for what it's worth, Ganon does actually play the Organ in Cadence of Hyrule, so they managed to slip a reference to the pun in there.
Cadence of Mushroom Kingdom, where Luigi gets a hidden tech that if he flosses, he becomes unable to move but instantly vaporizes anything that touches him
Maybe flossing can create that weird dimensional bubble final smash he had is Smash Brothers Brawl?
He could also do that really weird dance he did in brawl.
Certainly one of the more... interesting final smashes ever.
Luigi should be albeto use potergester as acounter/ projectile
but because it's way too overpowered, you got to beat the game on the hardest difficulty first. and without dying to a single boss
Better yet, he does nothing and every enemy on screen dies.
The legend of Zelda in general is a great series to be explored in side genres. It's just filled to the brim with potential fun with all of its previous content
Nah.
Agreed. I personally would love to see a fully realized zelda rpg. Turn based or action RPG is fine, just give me the true level up experience with stats and allies and whatnot
@@TheKeybladeKeeper Xenoblade Chronicles is a good candidate for that, the first one particularly. Though a full-fledged Zelda RPG would of course be awesome.
I still want a "Paper Zelda" game... Like 64Bits made a parody animation with that concept and damn.... it would work so great!

“Gleeokenspiel is the best”
So glad to see someone recognize how fucking *great* that theme is.
Gleeokenspiel is the main reason I started brainstorming a Zelda D&D campaign, so I can play it during Gleeok boss fights.
also Gleeokenspiel is a god-tier instrument pun
Gleeockenspiel is easily among the top 5 video game songs of all time, right up there with Trial By Thunder from the original CotN
It's imo the only boss that actually uses the music as part of its attacks... The other ones just miss that little touch here.
ding-ding-ding-ZAP
The coolest part for me about this game
Is how many artists they gathered for this games soundtrack.
Gotta love it when Scott talks about what he wants instead of just whatever is new or trending
this was voted in a community poll
Gotta love it when Scott talks about what we order him to!
@@sasir2013 I mean if he didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't have put it on the poll.
@@jakoblinton2053 But my point is that he only made a video about this because it was an idea with interest from the public. There are things that he wants to talk about, but get bad results in the polls and therefore, never get a video.
So the subject does need to be "trendy" in a way
Id like to point out that this game has the Kokiri Sword in it, and its description says that “a hero in the future uses this weapon to save hyrule” or something like that.
This means that Cadence of Hyrule canonically takes place before Ocarina of Time, and is also technically the first appearance of Ganon. Obviously this wasn’t intentional but it made me think about the implications of that.
Excellent video as always btw.
I think this game is non-canon.
Most theorize it to be somewhere around A Link Between Worlds
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596 so is Links Crossbow Training and Age of Calamity, but they both have pretty obvious timeline placement. Just because something is non-canon doesn’t mean that the actual canon doesn’t affect it.
@@jonperez12344 Why is that?
@@theplinko9840 no AOT is canon, it splits the timeline again
“I’ll still have you” takes place immediately after Mario catches his lil bro flossing
anybody who’s played the main story mode of Cadence of Hyrule can say that Octavo’s boss fight is harder than Ganon’s and it says something
(also Octavo is really underrated as a character)
Eh, he's a bargain brand Vaati lookalike with a penchant for music, personally. Maybe they go into more detail with him in Crypt of the Necrodancer, but having not played that, I wasn't terribly wow'd.
Octavos fight was really easy. Ganon was a bit of a challenge
scottfalco spreading the truth about the game of all time
but fr, cadence of hyrule is such an underrated game and more people need to play it. buy it! (and the dlc too!!)
not to mention the various remixes of the soundtrack you can play the game to. Family Jules' metal version is my personal favorite. (only downside is that its paid dlc)
The physical copy comes with all DLC included.
Cadence of Hyrule's default music is actually by Jules. It was the first game that had his music as paid DLC
@@dastalinstarblade4618 So, you're saying the default music is paid DLC? Then what music is used if you don't get any DLC?
@@dastalinstarblade4618 the out of combat music is Danny B, the combat music is Family Jules, they made the base game soundtrack. DLC makes it all Jules or the other artists.
@@jasondare actually, no. While yes, his guitar parts are in the main games music by default, both in combat, and out of combat music is all Danny B. The only thing Jules has is guitar parts. Now if you want all of his stuff being your music, that’s DLC. You’ll still have out of combat music being Danny B by default though sadly.
"I'd love a mario themed necro dancer so loogi can show off his moves!"
Mario DDR: am I a joke to you
*Glances at the highest-difficulty stepcharts*
Yes. Yes you are.
Ah yes, the only game where Waluigi is actually important
So glad that you made this vid, I absolutely love this game! I had a friend recommend me Crypt of the Necrodancer when I worked at Burger King 3 years ago, and then found this on the Switch.
To this day I still have 2 left feet, and 5 right hands and cannot play properly to keep a beat lol.
Yeah, same here. Maybe Crypt of the Necrodancer is just fucking difficult, but I could not play it for the life of me.
I like that this series used to be comedic rants and over the years has evolved into comedic reviews. Keep up the good work Scott!
Fixed beat mode is a lot of fun in multiplayer. The enemies react when Either player moves, so you can burn moves which can let your friend attack freely (for the most part). Me and my friend treat fixed beat mode like a turn based game and it's actually my preferred way to play.
This has convinced me to finally buy it... after all the streams!
God I adored this game so much. Played the heck out of it and even got pretty good at the rythm stuff even though I am terrible at that kind of thing. Everything was amazing but especially the music and I love how much post game support it has gotten through DLC and such. Definitely a game that deserves the attention.
It’s time to face both the light and music
I honestly forgot about this game until you started playing it on stream for this video. Now I wanna go play it
Shout out to the mad lad Familyjules in this game. His music is so good
Wait..he really made the music for this game?! That's awesome!
@@chadschmaltz9790 sorry. I think I should've been more specific. He helped with the music in the main game itself. HOWEVER he does have his own dlc pack with every music in the game composed by him
cadence of hyrule is such a great title, i had a blast playing it when i first bought it and recently got around to playing the dlc. tons of fun and replayability!
Love the reference to the dancing baby at the beginning
Fear it. run from it.
Dancing child comes all the same.
I bought Necrodancer on 3 different platforms and bought Cadence on day one! The end boss (in Cadence) was a little too much for me but it never felt like I was being cheated.
Cadence of Hyrule does have a habit of overwhelming you, I will admit - though it *also* tends to give you buttloads of health to accomodate for that. I rarely beat PD-Ganon *without* using a potion.
@@CiromBreeze Wait... I haven't played Cadence in a long while. I don't remember potions. I'm going to try to play it again and see.
This was such a cool crossover. I hope I see more of this stuff from Nintendo.
Funny thing is I literally finished the main story like... Two days ago I think? This is good timing! Kinda hope we get a Star Fox themed spin off some day, I think it'd be neat to just blast folks in an AR Wing to the beat of Star Wolf's theme.
Speakin' the truth, Scott: Gleokenspiel's theme is the best on this game.
Link was hittin that dance tho
That wizzroboe dungeon 1F skip and use of Zelda and only rapier tells me you’ve definitely seen a speedrun or two haha
No theme in the game will make me want to bust it down harder than Kakariko Crypt. Hearing that *tasty, oh-so-fucking satisfying guitar solo* blast in from the buildup of the song's beginning makes me want to go nuts every time because it captures Zelda so well as a series.
Everybody say thank you Danny Baranowsky
This makes me think of when Celeste collaborated with Towerfall. Two extremely charming games coming together and adding a neat new style. Except this time it's a full game and it looks awesome!
Not quite a side of salt, but a spoonful of sugar?
I hated this game, I only played the demo but gosh it was too hard because of the rythm, it sounds stupid and it totally is.
Cadence of Hyrule looks really fun! I have to see if I can try it out sometime.
Just try the demo!
What's neat is that Brace Yourself Games approached Nintendo about making Zelda DLC for the Switch version of Necrodancer and Nintendo suggested that they make a new game instead.
You know what they say, these boots are made for walking and will dance all over your grave. XD
Especially since these boss beat absolutely fantastic.
This game just holds up so well. I can never get tired of it.
As an ex-band kid, the beat of the metronome distills me with fear.
Okay I love LoZ and all and it was well done and I had a blast but
WHERE TF IS MY GIRL SHANTAE
cadence of hyrule video? and it's from scottfalco? time to do my part and boost en gauge ment with the algae rhythm!
i played the cadence Demo and had such a great time with it! i also played the original crypt of the necrodancer for a while, not my favourite roguelite I've played but still very fun!
the game feels semi-hard to get anywhere in until by about halfway suddenly nothing is even able to remotely be a challenge anymore because of your items and health. is that just me?
Surprised you didnt mention the nut crushing mode of playing as a deku scrub and dying in 1 hit while being locked to using a dagger
RIP ganon
1986-2022
Executed by cringe ass nae-nae baby
FamilyJules did some of the music for this game and it’s a big reason why i love this game
This is a stupid question but... Is there a Scott Falco salt shaker?
You only have 1 minor critism about a game in your video series about critising games?
yea... but where should we place cadence of hyrule in zelda timeline
Nice lil side of sugar. I can tell how much scott loves this game
Some random person: "Give me one reason why Cadence of Hyrule is good."
Me: "Uhh... it exists?"
This game is fun but playing all 3 stories 1 after another and 100% each story is not the move. I GOT SO BORED AND ANGRY PLAYING IT because you get op really quickly so then it's not a challenge anymore (especially when you acquire the bow) and then you just have to fill out THE WHOLE MAP and im like breh I did it but it took me way too long for my enjoyment. If you only do a few runs and don't explore the dlc map and don't care about filling the map everytime then it'll probably be fun for you a lot longer but I basically beat the game 6 times in a row with minimal to no differences. The puzzle mode and classic modes are fun tho. The og crypt of the mecro dance is amazing.
Yeah… this game is kiddie mode of CotND. It’s enjoyable at least, especially Symphony of the Mask where it gives more of a challenge than the base game. I’ve yet to try Aria mode on CoH… and tbh. Maybe I should use Aria CoH mode before I do Aria CotND mode… 😂 either way this game acts as a good way to get into the CotND game, and it makes sense that it’s all toned down compared to CotND since Nintendo aims for more kid stuff. I like how you can change the difficulty in settings by adding certain things or using a different character. They’re all very unique, even if this game feels too easy regardless.
@@lycancario I loved how satisfying CotND felt like i died A TON but when I beat it ON GAH best moments of my life.
Turn back, guys, it's literally just an ad.
Started playing Cadence of Hyrule recently and finished it yesterday. The only reason i bought the game is because i liked the music and now it's one of my favorite The Legend of Zelda games. 8.5/10
Only 8.5?
Haven't played this yet but I adore the original Necrodancer. The Wight to Remain (4-3) is my absolute favorite
The entire OST is such a bop.. Danny Baranowsky is a musical genius
I'm really glad that the Necrodancer crew got to do a Zelda game! And, beyond that, so damn proud of Jules for making it into a Ninty game like this.
So...you show Luigi can't dance before you style upon him with your own moves in the end credits...I see you. I see what you did there.
Thanks for this one! ^~^ Cadence of Hyrule is such a heckin amazing game and I'm glad I got to hear a popular RUclipsr even mention it!
I personally like this one slightly more than the original. Partially because it's LoZ music and partially because it is an entire adventure
Agreed
Link: Nae naes on Ganon's corpse
THIS GAME IS BEAUTIFUL IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS
I like to imagine luigi can actually dance like Micheal Jackson in his prime if he's motivated.
Waluigi can
I think the ending screen with scott dancing should have had the Necrodancer beat bar animation beneath it.
Same brain, I thought the same thing when I saw it. ScottDancer real 2022?!?!!?!?!?
Thanks for making a side of salt for this game! It's one of my favorites but you don't see much of it on youtube
Hyrule at its most salty
Danny Baranowski and Jules Conroy both made amazing songs for the game. Gerudo's track with enemies is possibly the best song on the entire soundtrack.
Love the doc strange reference lmao
"Which will net you permanent upgrades in true Roguelike fashion" killed me los
Base Guitarmo Knights is best track, fight me on this
Agreed.
I played the demo for this game but I just wasn't feeling it. It's well-made, but I definitely wouldn't play the full game because I happen to not be a fan of rhythm games or roguelikes.
Okay so this is the MOST convenient time you could have made this video. I just got back into the game and bought the Melody Packs, and have been vibing and was just listening to the OST
I haven’t played Cadence of Hyrule in forever… Maybe I should get back into it.
I enjoyed this game until I got joycon drift
Why are you even playing this game with the pad instead of the buttons ?
Gleeokenspiel's theme is hands-down my favorite theme among most boss fight themes in games
"Every one of them has a them the slaps but Gleeokenspiel is the best one" FACTS
0:03 you gona make a loop of this
It's weird to see nintendo pairing up with an indie shop to make a title like this. At any rate, it's always nice seeing rhythm roguelikes getting some love!
And not just cos I'm making one or anything
*Shut up and take my money!*
So when do we save Marin from being trapped as a seagull forever ?
I need to go back to this game apparently, I beat the main game once and haven't seen a majority of the stuff you showcased here
Isn't Cadence of Hyrule the first 2nd party developer of a Nintendo IP since the Phillip's CDi days? Makes me hope, like Scott, Nintendo is willing to branch out some more in the future!
Depends on what one means by that. The Oracle games for example were mostly developed by Capcom, with only a bit of oversight by Nintendo.
The onlt problem is there's no PC version because, y'know, Zelda, and playong Necrodancer on Switch is hell on my thumbs.
fun fact: CotND now has *HATSUNE MIKU HERSELF* in the game
Ah yes! Cadence of Hyrule! Another of those games where the dlc felt like stuff that should've been there day 1 of release. Basically another of example of dlc being used as an excuse to release a game early. Cadence of Hyrule is a pretty good game. But it sucks knowing if they had been patient with development and waited to release the game with all of it's content in one bigger release in 2020 instead of 2019, I could've truly completed the game 100% by now, rather than like 75% or something. Knowing that I didn't ever actually complete the game 100% because like 25% of the main game was locked behind dlc just still pisses me off to this day.
We were already getting Link's Awakening in 2019. We didn't Cadence of Hyrule yet. They could've waited another until they actually completed everything to release the game. And Age of Calamity could've released the same year as Skyward Sword HD instead also since AoC's dlc also felt like delayed base game content. Here's how things should've been:
September 2019 - Link's Awakening
October 2020 - Cadence of Hyrule
July 2021 - Skyward Sword HD
October or November 2021 - Age of Calamity
If that were the release schedule, things would've better in terms of games actually having felt complete upon release.
God that ending made me think about Luigi saying, "I'm not seeing enough movement"
Rhythm heaven music in the outro hell nah.
I loved this game, it was such a fun time
Hey, look on the bright side. Until Cadence of the Mushroom Kingdom comes around, we'll have DDR Mario Mix, where the final boss BREAKDANCES LIKE A GOD. No I'm not saying who it is. Go watch a playthrough. Maybe the time Proton Jon did it. That's a good one.
I originally avoided Necrodancer because despite having rhythm, I feared keeping it up during gameplay would become too complex. I was delighted while playing Cadence of Hyrule, though, that this wasn't the case. I'm glad the game has a Mystery Dungeon-style mode, but if you're someone who thinks moving to the beat is too intimidating, give the standard mode a shot anyway. You may surprise yourself.
Still my fav part of the game is the music because its made by FamilyJules
"It can also award you DIAMONDS which can net you permanent upgrades, in true Roguelike fashion."
Is this sarcasm? Please tell me it's sarcasm.
dude of course your gonna love cadence of hyrule AND crypt of the necrodancer, i mean LISTEN TO YOUR OUTRO THEME!!
(in all seriousness next time i get money for my switch i will buy crypt of the necrodancer then cadence of hyrule)
God Nintendo PLEASE make a CotND crossover with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
Just pick your favorite Pokemon and have Cadence tag along as your partner (as a Eevee or something idk) and have the typical mystery dungeon format but with a splash of Necrodancer's rhythm gameplay and items and such
Fuck that'd be such a BANGER of a game
The ONLY THING I don't like about this is the fact that you play music from the game
BUT THE CLIPS YOU USE ARE SPED UP AND IT THROWS OFF MY BEAT
Cadence of Hyrule is probably better overall (than COTND) but I think I prefer the feel of COTND, it's a bit more crude-looking, which I definitely like.
ScottFalco: “I hope Nintendo will do more indie crossovers so we can get Mario x CotD!”
Me: “I hope Nintendo will do more indie crossovers so we can get Metroid x The Binding of Isaac >:)”
RUclips I know you're spying on me but could you make it less obvious
Context: Scott the Woz on twitter posted "where's Scott"
I replied " Falco? I think he made a youtube channel about Sodium"
Immediately after youtube recommends Salt based Scott Falco content which it hasn't done on like half a year XD
I think I should say that Brace Yourself Games, creators of Crypt of the Necrodancer and Cadence of Hyrule, said it was going to be a big year for CotND this year. We’ve already seen some new merch and stuff which is cool, but for them to say this is big? Somethings up. I wonder if CotND will get a new DLC or maybe we will get another CotND game… 👀 either way I’m down and these lovely indie developers can take all my money
TBH, I wanted more Zelda characters playable like Malon, Nayru (Oracle), and Din (Oracle). It would been awesome to see the game get more love with DLC.
3:20 YES
Mushroom Rhythm!
Bowser Boogies!
Kong Karnivale!
I would also totally be down for a Mario-themed necrodancer!
I really love the fun way you reviewed the game. Funny but genuinely helpful! I do own it - it's currently sandwiched between other games in my (ever-growing) "yet to play" pile. I've just played through Sonic Mania so I will want to start on something else at some point, though.
Many thanks for sharing this video and keep up the great work! 😊👍
Never played this game, thought about, forgot about it. But then a rhythm game called soundfall came out and have been a blast. Maybe I'll pick this game up... Maybe...
