Proud to say that I guessed the Horned King’s name. An interesting method of using scientific logic to rank villains.
There is some nuance that I think should also be considered. As you mentioned Yzma worked as a comical villain in her movie because it was a comedy. Different types of villains work for different types of stories. If Shun Yu had gotten that much depth in Mulan, it would’ve muddled the story.
And Shun Yu may have been the villain, but he was hardly the antagonist. The actual antagonist was society and tradition. As represented by the matchmaker, the 3 friends, and Shang.
Also in Raya and the Last Dragon (as it was intended but failed to accomplish) Sisu was another antagonist. She was the one who challenged Raya’s view on trust.
And lastly Moana. Maui might work as an antagonist, but barely. Te Ka was the villain and so was The Kakamora and the Shiny crab(can’t remember his name). Her biggest antagonists were her father and her naïveté. I think one thing I liked about Moana is that as she learned and changed, her antagonist changed. She conquered one battle only to be met with a new one. Until she gained the skill and knowledge to face Te Ka.

It’s not uncommon for people online to have no idea what they’re talking about in terms of Snow White as a film. Completely missing the themes, cultural context and subtext & just saying whatever comes to mind. It sucks that the only complex villain the studio ever made is fantastically thrown under the bus for silly reasons.
