Unpopular Opinion: The switched at birth theory for Raven and Apple devalues both of their characters and personal story. Wasn't the whole point that you didn't have to be like your parents? I hate the idea of Raven being "naturally good" and her rebellious nature covered up so she can be the "Perfect Princess" and all of Apple's negative traits just being cause she was secretly "Evil" and that there was nothing wrong with how she was raised to make her believe what she believes. Like Raven not wanting to be evil like her mother and wanting to be accepted for the kind, yet sarcastic person she is without dealing with people hating her for something she can't control. Apple's fear of the unknown gives her anxiety about the future if no one signs the book. Headmaster Grimm preys on those anxieties. We see that in the show and in the books. Let's not pretend she had no real concerns here.
Honestly, like does majority of eah fandom not know what brainwashing and propaganda is, because Apple being raised on that propaganda since birth of course it would be hard for her to see outside of it.

I'm working on a fanfic, and my lore for the storybook of legends is that parents tell Grimm about their child and which destiny the kid will have, despite what actual metaphysical destiny has in store. From there, Grimm can assign kids to different destinies (most prevalent being the various Charmings). The original storybook of legends (the one Raven destroys) was created by the Grimm family to overwrite destiny to repeat stories. It was more magical, and if everyone in the fairytale signed it, it would force them to go through the story. The fake didn't have this power of magical force. It was highly magical, yes, and would show what people expected to happen, but it didn't have any actual powers over destiny. Daring showing up is because that's what people chose, Apple's true love being Darling is what destiny chose.
Another thing I kinda never understood about EAH is about Ashlynn. The stories they use are based of the original Grimm stories so that would mean that in EAH Cinderella's name is actually Cinderella its just "Ella". She called Cinderella by her step sisters. Obviously Ashlynn's name is based on Cinderella's but from a narrative standpoint it doesn't make sense why Cinderella would name her only child after that part of her trauma, so I headcanon that Ashlynn's "original name" was actaully just Lynn and that her step cousins called her Ashlynn like her mom and it just stuck because of her destiny. Also it would make sense cause she's kind of a Rebel, so maybe along the line of the series she would just have all her friends call her "Lynn" as a way to reclaim her identity. Anyways sorry for the rant. Thanks for the video 💙
My unpopular opinion about Apple is that you can acknowledge that she is really well written and still dislike her as a person. She just doesn’t vibe with be. But on another note, great video! I am amazed that I knew that much already, but I was a huge fan after all. I had all the base outfits (I think), and exactly 1 special doll, which was the horribly expensive Cerise Wolf comic con doll. She was my absolute favorite, so she was the only one I got 2 copies of. I still have all my 30 dolls and the lack of quality on the last ones is just sad
I definitely agree on the first thing you said. Many fans need to realize that just because you don’t like a character, that doesn’t mean they aren’t written well. I personally LOVE Apple dearly and think shes well written, but still.

I dislike Apple for her always wanting to get her happily ever after and attempting to get Raven to follow her destiny so that Apple gets hers but I like how Apple was fully realized as a character and well written so that she still had some depth and likability to her and you can actually see her point of view when she tells Raven the only reason she tried so hard to get Raven to sign the Book of Legends was because she’s terrified at what could possibly happen if Raven doesn’t do it and she doesn’t want anything bad to happen to everyone as a result. Fear sometimes makes people act pushy and try to force others to act the same way because the person doesn’t know what will happen once the thing that is scaring them actually happens and they want to make sure everyone they care about is safe.

48:49 The Evil Queen does seem cruel as in her actions, but her letter makes her seem like she loves her daughter at heart and doesn't care if she is good or evil. If you see the end of Dragon Games, The Evil Queen roots for Raven saying, "That's my daughter", through the mirror holding a foam finger thing.
In addition to the reading of EAH as a racial allegory, it can also be interpreted as a queer or generally political allegory. The royals are trying to keep the conservative, cishet status quo, while the rebels are “rebelling” against what’s expected of them and living unashamedly as themselves, similarly to how queer people are seen as deviant and rebellious against societal expectations. This makes it even more interesting that Apple, the leader of the royals, ends up with a woman as her “Prince Charming,” leading to an interesting commentary on internalized homophobia. I doubt the writers actually considered this when writing the show, but it’s fun to think about.
In the books, it's even clearer. The conflict before the Royal/Rebel thing was Royals vs. Commoners! It's a metaphor for classicism! Raven created a whole new group with the rebels!
yeah, and even in in some moments in the show, I think in the diaries implies that the Royals get special privilege. Maddie says in one of them I think her diary or the book I can’t remember been a long time. during legacy Royals get cushion thrones and the rebels got stools like hard wooden stools to sit on. they had to sit through a whole ceremony on hard stools that would’ve pissed me off royally ha ha pun intended. and there’s also apples baking contest for her birthday only the Royals were allowed to participate until that year.
Despite Ramona being in a 'soft reboot', I think that her story in the show is very well explained. She went to reform school, and if she truly is the daughter of the Big Bad Wolf while Cerise is the daughter of Little Red Riding Hood, they'd have each other to fall back on for their destiny (should they play it out).
About cupid and the whole eros x psyche thing, i think since the gods are immortal beings, they don’t need to make their kids follow their legacies, that’s why except for cupid we don’t have the children of any god in ever after high

I'm so gutted EAH ended i would have loved a Movie/Doll Line where they go to Underwater Palace with Meeshell Mermaid and they all get turned into mermaids by Raven's magic or something and they meet Meshells parents and the Sea Witch and the Seawitch's daughter Coral this would have been so amazing to see like characters having the tails like there outfits like Darling having a Armour tail and Rosabella having a tail covered in Roses and Kitty having a Catfish tail lol sooo much could have been done it makes me sad and the doll line would have been fabulous

The plot hole involving Cupid that has always bothered me is related to the cliffhanger that teased a MH and EAH crossover where Astra was talking to Raven and Apple and saying how the Monster world was real. We know that all of the fairy tale characters know each other and their family’s stories and do take notice if someone new suddenly appears like with Crystal or Alistar and Bunny. And they are curious about said new person in their world. Yet Cupid literally appears out of nowhere from their viewpoint and no one seems to ask her where exactly she came from? Did she never mention Monster High? This is what I find confusing.

Here is my defense of Apple White. Obviously, I think she is in the wrong, but I am a huge Apple sympathizer. First and foremost, their Legacy Year is their second year of highschool. Nearly everyone is fifteen. Weak point, but I'll see people who are mad at Apple and just think "She is fifteen. She's allowed to be selfish." Speaking of, next point. She thinks everyone's lives are in danger. We are outside perspectives, so naturally most people are rebels. Up until recently, I too classified myself as a rebel. But think about having to say the pledge of allegiance everyday, or standing up to the national anthem. Everyone in Book End has grown up with propaganda saying if they don't sign the book, they're gone. They cease to exist. It's like catholic guilt. If everyday from the day I was born I was told I was damned to hell if I didn't sign a book at fifteen, I'd sign the book! And while I whole heartedly do not think Raven is selfish, I understand why Apple would think so. Even if you knew you'd be imprisoned you're whole life, at least you had the safety and security in knowing that. And with Apple's trauma expanded upon in the books, of course that's her point of view. I think even if Apple didn't have a happily ever after, she'd still be a die hard royal. Finally, I don't think she's selfish. As stated above, she thinks everyone will go poof if Raven doesn't sign the book. Including her. Have you ever heard that if you and another person were drowning, your instincts would kick in and you'd use that person to pull yourself back up? Yeah it's selfish, but your brain was in survival mode. If you think you and all your friends will die, and your automatic first thought will be yourself. I think it makes perfect sense for Apple to talk about herself when trying to convince Raven to sign the book. Or, the opposite end of the spectrum. You just went on the best date of your life. You are overjoyed. You're more likely to say "I had the best night ever" rather than "It was the best night ever." If Apple is talking to one of her friends about her story, a story she adores, it makes perfect sense for her to say "My story" rather than "Mine and Raven's and Darling's and Hunter's and the dwarves' story." Understand if you still don't like Apple. Way more understand if you still think she's in the wrong. I just really sympathise with Apple. Sometimes I wish I could relive my past simply because I know nothing bad has happened in the past. I want the safety of living in the past. And that's basically what Apple wants too. A pretold story where she knows nothing bad happens until it does.
all of this tbh shew even tells raven straight up she wants raven to sign cus she cares about her, and she's been told her whole life deviation from the norm could result in everyone's death -- she isn't right, but she isn't malicious in her stance and given her upbringing you see why she is so dead set on people committing to their roles (esp if you read the books)
Also raven not signing the book actually led to some fairies "disappearing", so basically dead because if people dont follow their destiny the fairies have no use purpose.
As a kid (I was raised pretty religiously) I wholeheartedly hated Raven lol cause I was like Apple and I legit hated how Raven had no fear on her life she always seemed like the most selfish one to me but as I grew up I realized that she just wants the option to choose. Honestly growing up makes you realize the characters were more nuanced than you thought as a child and I love that! I feel like Apple would’ve grown and changed her initial mindset which was starting to be shown in the newer movies before they canceled I wish we got more of her character development and honestly I think Raven too was getting a character development with how she starts to contemplate if her choice was correct everyone was truly finally understanding where eachother was coming from BUT THEY ENDED AND WE WILL NEVER KNOW honestly need it to have a proper ending!

I don’t think the show was ever trying to set the idea of Blonde haired ppl being an oppressed minority in EAH, more so that Snow White is almost always depicted as a Brunette or with Black Hair, and in the EAH Universe Snow White has always been Brunette or had Black hair. Snow white has had dark hair for years, of course Apple being blonde what would be a point of concern for her, even outside the show’s lore off the top of my head Apple is the only Blonde Snow White I can think of. Most choices in stories do have context, and trying to claim EAH has hair discrimination against Blonde’s when said Blonde is the first Blonde of a family with mostly Black/Brown hair is just ignoring the context.
For the theory about apple and raven being swapped at birth, I find it ironic that in the theory that raven is supposed to be related to Snow White even though she doesn’t even really seem that kind and always puts her happily ever after first. It’s a good theory but I don’t think Raven and snow white’s personalities would match between them since raven is more kind and understanding at times, meanwhile the queen is slightly sadistic

One character i wondered about: dutchess swan. How does she even exist? If we are going by the logic the fairy tale humans and other races reproduce sexually (which red ridding hood and big bad wolfs daughters suggest) then how is duchess even alive? She is upset she feels she has to follow her moms fate but if that applied even after the fairytale was over her mother was supposed to be dead. Unless odette and sigfreid did it when they first met and that was literally 10-12 weeks before her death at least (since that is how long it takes for a female swan to make a nest, lay and incubate her eggs before hatching) the time line does not fit and that is of course assuming her gestation time is a swan’s gestation and not the midpoint between swan and human. Unless there was some supernatural magic going on that literally created a child just to torture, her one literally an orphan before birth, that means her story was not her future and ever after high is not training there kids for there future: its training them to be actors! Once there story is told again how they live there lives in the fairy tale world would be theres to chose because the story was complete. That would mean that every adult in the fairytale world was an a***ole because they are literally blaming raven for a part that doesn’t define her off stage and it wasn’t even her actions it was her mom’s. This would also mean that dutchess’ search for a happily ever after would be completely pointless because her ending literally has no baring on her life after the story is told. This one thing opens up so many questions and plot-holes.

Amazing video. Also my thoughts on things from the iceberg. The first is Romana being from Ceries imagination doesn't work with me. I read the post but is it always bothered me and i think it's because it kinda diminishes her character. I know that we don't get along of info on her but if they gave her more screen time or a doll with a diary we could have learn more about her which is kinda sad because i fall in love with her design. So i decided to write her diary that i post on Reddit when i finished or do it. As for the racial higher key that i really don't think about except for Ceries after reading a comment on a doll video with her San Diego Comic-Con Cerise Wolf doll. Which actual makes sense in a way. As for the hair discrimination thing I did not know about that.
As the creator of the Ramona theory, it was never meant diminish Ramona in fact it was supposed to Heighten it. Instead of repeating the same character beats of Cerise (ie. A child of wolf and Red) and giving her her own story. The idea is that Romona is aware of the fact that her existence is tied to Cerise’s unstable reality, and knows once cerise accepts the bad wolf, Ramona cease to exists. She goes out of her way to keep Cerise from her destiny so that she could extend it just a little longer, but ultimately that one day the life she has will simply disappear. Even coming face to face with those that knows what she really is. But she does grow and accept her own destiny when it comes to finally saying goodbye to the world she loved. It’s an idea of Ramona facing existential dread and finally coming to terms with it. I have written several blurbs about it l, as well as some stories

Most people think the Huntsman is her father. Ramona looks more obviously like a daughter of the big bad wolf so she is gonna get the big bad wolf destiny. Her secret is her mother being Red Riding Hood. Both girls hiding their family secret lets their parents of the hook and people will assume any bad blood the sisters have is because of their destinies. It also helps that both girls take after the parent whose destiny they're claiming.

The white swan/black swan thing actually makes sense for Duchess. In the Swan Lake ballet, both Odette and Odile are played by the same actress, so it’d make sense if Duchess is both the Black and White Swan.

I think it's interesting that straight fans hate Apple and put Raven on a pedestal, but queer fans absolutely adore Apple and understand her character arc because most of us have been there. James Somerton made a really good video talking about Queer Perfect that I think would be beneficial to look at and a good lens to view Apple through. I was in her shoes. I was a cheerleader, I modeled, I did good in school, I got engaged to a guy who's father owned a law firm. I thought having a husband and kids was perfect and what would make me happy. My family also made that love wasn't unconditional. I had to prove myself worthy of it and anything short of perfection often lead to physical abuse and neglect. So Apple feeling like it's either perfection or death is very much "girl same" to me. Apple is so queer coded the fact that she was "born wrong" because she's the first Snow White with blonde hair, like this thing out of her control means there's something wrong with her is exactly how I felt about being a lesbian. I have an amazing and gorgeous girlfriend now and I'm a mortuary science student. I get to be a lesbian openly and get to help alot of people. So Apple is personal to me and to alot of other queer folks because of that. It's so strange when I see Raven fans hating the gay character, it's so weird to me especially if they side with Raven because she's a rebel and progressive??? Apple has been so fucking fruit from the start she's even named after a fruit 😭 Again I understand her behavior and views are difficult to understand if you haven't experienced it, but there's a large amount of Raven stans who still deny the kiss scene as CPR. And also look for any way to deny her gayness which I don't even fully understand why. And now when people tell me their favorite is Raven I get the ick even tho I liked the character too.

1:10:30 . I don't think it was a plothole error, nor a "mistake" that Daring was shown to be Apple's destiny charming. What I'd like to believe, because the book was fake, it only showed what they wanted, or believed was their destiny. If I remember correctly, its said Apple knew even when they were young that Daring was *going* to be her prince charming, so her and everyoe around her believed it, and subconsciously fed into that narrative, which would be why the story book of legends showed them being together

The Ramona is just a figment of cerise imagination theory doesn't hold up tbh ,we see Ramona rarely but she appears by herself in different scenes ,and we also see their father hug them and say he's proud of his daughters. There are little to no clues that indicate Ramona is not real..maybe she just wasn't written initially and added later
I always assumed the darling/daring switch in Apple’s story came from the fact that her story changed. Technically she was poisoned by the apple by an evil queen, it wasn’t her evil queen, and was woken up by a charming who was not ment to be her charming,thus changing the story and diverting from her actual destiny. It could also be that she was poisoned to early, her priorities around love are more around her friends than any romantic relationship which could change how the true loves kiss is interpreted.But that may be giving Mattel to much credit and it’s probably just a plot hole like mentioned in the video.
When I was around 4 or 5 I had an apple white shirt and one time at daycare I got a nosebleed and we had to throw out the shirt because we couldn't get the nosebleed stains out 😞
Briar's existence is so bizarre lmao. How are she and Rosabella *cousins* through their *mothers* if Briar is meant to sleep for 100 years just like her mom? How did RAVEN'S MOM curse BRIAR'S MOM? It'd make far more sense imo if Briar and Rosabella were the ones who were distantly related while Cerise's mom and Sparrow's dad were siblings, and that Raven's mom cursed Briar, not her mom. That has always irked me lmao. My other nitpick is that Rosabella on paper is basically just Ashlynn with a backburner personality and I wish they hadn't made her an animal rights activist but instead focused on her being a softspoken gardener. Her being just a carbon copy of Ashlynn, especially in a special where she is WITH Ashlynn, doesn't make her stand out in the slightest, and it had the adverse effect of diminishing Ashlynn's character. I don't like Epic Winter lmao. Sure I can get behind Daring being the Beast, that makes perfect sense, but since I don't like Rosabella, I don't like the ship. He had more chemistry with Cerise in a tiny short than he did with Rosabella in a whole film. I also didn't like Apple at first but she grew on me. I get her motives and I do think that her motives are both selfish and selfless- she often talks about how she wants her happily ever after, but she also is afraid of people she loves going "poof". However once she learns that's not true, her desire for her story to carry out still do just become selfish. She doesn't allow for, say, Faybelle to just take over for Raven, even though Faybelle would love to do so. No, it has to be Raven. And she refuses to understand why that would disturb or scare Raven, all Apple sees is her happy ending. I think that makes her actually pretty interesting? And the fact she's possibly a lesbian with Darling as her true love makes her doubly interesting. Apple doesn't really start to *get* it until she's forced to endure a taste of Briar's fate, but I still don't buy her change of heart at the end of Way Too Wonderland.

I personally loved Apple, she was my favorite character. I liked her because she was flawed. She had been raised and taught her whole life that this is how things were written and supposed to be; and who wouldn’t want these things to come to pass knowing that everything good would come to you👀😂😂. Yes she was overly optimistic because the stars aligned in her favor and she desired that. She was blinded by a perfect life, and then when ppl went against that she began to go through this big identity crisis. It was so intriguing to watch and I loved it. I loved watching her watch everything unfold before her eyes, that no one was truly happy, but she wanted her happiness to come to pass and would do anything to get it. She was flawed yes, but she was very much an interesting character. Maybe this is coming from the perspective of someone was considered a mature child, or the fact that I’m also a story writer (unpublished author), but I LOVE Flawed Characters; especially when they are far from aware. She was truly out innocent villain, which is a very interesting concept👀🖤🌸

Unpopular Opinion: The switched at birth theory for Raven and Apple devalues both of their characters and personal story. Wasn't the whole point that you didn't have to be like your parents? I hate the idea of Raven being "naturally good" and her rebellious nature covered up so she can be the "Perfect Princess" and all of Apple's negative traits just being cause she was secretly "Evil" and that there was nothing wrong with how she was raised to make her believe what she believes. Like Raven not wanting to be evil like her mother and wanting to be accepted for the kind, yet sarcastic person she is without dealing with people hating her for something she can't control. Apple's fear of the unknown gives her anxiety about the future if no one signs the book. Headmaster Grimm preys on those anxieties. We see that in the show and in the books. Let's not pretend she had no real concerns here.

I like to head cannon that the reason Daring shows up in the book at the beginning is because since it's a fake, he's there because everyone *expects* him to be Apple's prince.
I'm working on a fanfic, and my lore for the storybook of legends is that parents tell Grimm about their child and which destiny the kid will have, despite what actual metaphysical destiny has in store. From there, Grimm can assign kids to different destinies (most prevalent being the various Charmings). The original storybook of legends (the one Raven destroys) was created by the Grimm family to overwrite destiny to repeat stories. It was more magical, and if everyone in the fairytale signed it, it would force them to go through the story. The fake didn't have this power of magical force. It was highly magical, yes, and would show what people expected to happen, but it didn't have any actual powers over destiny.
Daring showing up is because that's what people chose, Apple's true love being Darling is what destiny chose.
Another thing I kinda never understood about EAH is about Ashlynn. The stories they use are based of the original Grimm stories so that would mean that in EAH Cinderella's name is actually Cinderella its just "Ella". She called Cinderella by her step sisters. Obviously Ashlynn's name is based on Cinderella's but from a narrative standpoint it doesn't make sense why Cinderella would name her only child after that part of her trauma, so I headcanon that Ashlynn's "original name" was actaully just Lynn and that her step cousins called her Ashlynn like her mom and it just stuck because of her destiny. Also it would make sense cause she's kind of a Rebel, so maybe along the line of the series she would just have all her friends call her "Lynn" as a way to reclaim her identity. Anyways sorry for the rant. Thanks for the video 💙

My unpopular opinion about Apple is that you can acknowledge that she is really well written and still dislike her as a person. She just doesn’t vibe with be. But on another note, great video! I am amazed that I knew that much already, but I was a huge fan after all. I had all the base outfits (I think), and exactly 1 special doll, which was the horribly expensive Cerise Wolf comic con doll. She was my absolute favorite, so she was the only one I got 2 copies of. I still have all my 30 dolls and the lack of quality on the last ones is just sad

I dislike Apple for her always wanting to get her happily ever after and attempting to get Raven to follow her destiny so that Apple gets hers but I like how Apple was fully realized as a character and well written so that she still had some depth and likability to her and you can actually see her point of view when she tells Raven the only reason she tried so hard to get Raven to sign the Book of Legends was because she’s terrified at what could possibly happen if Raven doesn’t do it and she doesn’t want anything bad to happen to everyone as a result. Fear sometimes makes people act pushy and try to force others to act the same way because the person doesn’t know what will happen once the thing that is scaring them actually happens and they want to make sure everyone they care about is safe.

In addition to the reading of EAH as a racial allegory, it can also be interpreted as a queer or generally political allegory. The royals are trying to keep the conservative, cishet status quo, while the rebels are “rebelling” against what’s expected of them and living unashamedly as themselves, similarly to how queer people are seen as deviant and rebellious against societal expectations. This makes it even more interesting that Apple, the leader of the royals, ends up with a woman as her “Prince Charming,” leading to an interesting commentary on internalized homophobia. I doubt the writers actually considered this when writing the show, but it’s fun to think about.
In the books, it's even clearer. The conflict before the Royal/Rebel thing was Royals vs. Commoners! It's a metaphor for classicism!

yeah, and even in in some moments in the show, I think in the diaries implies that the Royals get special privilege. Maddie says in one of them I think her diary or the book I can’t remember been a long time. during legacy Royals get cushion thrones and the rebels got stools like hard wooden stools to sit on. they had to sit through a whole ceremony on hard stools that would’ve pissed me off royally ha ha pun intended. and there’s also apples baking contest for her birthday only the Royals were allowed to participate until that year.
Despite Ramona being in a 'soft reboot', I think that her story in the show is very well explained. She went to reform school, and if she truly is the daughter of the Big Bad Wolf while Cerise is the daughter of Little Red Riding Hood, they'd have each other to fall back on for their destiny (should they play it out).

The plot hole involving Cupid that has always bothered me is related to the cliffhanger that teased a MH and EAH crossover where Astra was talking to Raven and Apple and saying how the Monster world was real. We know that all of the fairy tale characters know each other and their family’s stories and do take notice if someone new suddenly appears like with Crystal or Alistar and Bunny. And they are curious about said new person in their world. Yet Cupid literally appears out of nowhere from their viewpoint and no one seems to ask her where exactly she came from? Did she never mention Monster High? This is what I find confusing.
The only thing i can think of to explain it is for some big reason she is not allowed to mention it, tho i dont have any idea what that be.

Here is my defense of Apple White. Obviously, I think she is in the wrong, but I am a huge Apple sympathizer.
First and foremost, their Legacy Year is their second year of highschool. Nearly everyone is fifteen. Weak point, but I'll see people who are mad at Apple and just think "She is fifteen. She's allowed to be selfish." Speaking of, next point.
She thinks everyone's lives are in danger. We are outside perspectives, so naturally most people are rebels. Up until recently, I too classified myself as a rebel. But think about having to say the pledge of allegiance everyday, or standing up to the national anthem. Everyone in Book End has grown up with propaganda saying if they don't sign the book, they're gone. They cease to exist. It's like catholic guilt. If everyday from the day I was born I was told I was damned to hell if I didn't sign a book at fifteen, I'd sign the book! And while I whole heartedly do not think Raven is selfish, I understand why Apple would think so. Even if you knew you'd be imprisoned you're whole life, at least you had the safety and security in knowing that. And with Apple's trauma expanded upon in the books, of course that's her point of view. I think even if Apple didn't have a happily ever after, she'd still be a die hard royal.
Finally, I don't think she's selfish. As stated above, she thinks everyone will go poof if Raven doesn't sign the book. Including her. Have you ever heard that if you and another person were drowning, your instincts would kick in and you'd use that person to pull yourself back up? Yeah it's selfish, but your brain was in survival mode. If you think you and all your friends will die, and your automatic first thought will be yourself. I think it makes perfect sense for Apple to talk about herself when trying to convince Raven to sign the book. Or, the opposite end of the spectrum. You just went on the best date of your life. You are overjoyed. You're more likely to say "I had the best night ever" rather than "It was the best night ever." If Apple is talking to one of her friends about her story, a story she adores, it makes perfect sense for her to say "My story" rather than "Mine and Raven's and Darling's and Hunter's and the dwarves' story."
Understand if you still don't like Apple. Way more understand if you still think she's in the wrong. I just really sympathise with Apple. Sometimes I wish I could relive my past simply because I know nothing bad has happened in the past. I want the safety of living in the past. And that's basically what Apple wants too. A pretold story where she knows nothing bad happens until it does.

As a kid (I was raised pretty religiously) I wholeheartedly hated Raven lol cause I was like Apple and I legit hated how Raven had no fear on her life she always seemed like the most selfish one to me but as I grew up I realized that she just wants the option to choose. Honestly growing up makes you realize the characters were more nuanced than you thought as a child and I love that! I feel like Apple would’ve grown and changed her initial mindset which was starting to be shown in the newer movies before they canceled I wish we got more of her character development and honestly I think Raven too was getting a character development with how she starts to contemplate if her choice was correct everyone was truly finally understanding where eachother was coming from BUT THEY ENDED AND WE WILL NEVER KNOW honestly need it to have a proper ending!

I don’t think the show was ever trying to set the idea of Blonde haired ppl being an oppressed minority in EAH, more so that Snow White is almost always depicted as a Brunette or with Black Hair, and in the EAH Universe Snow White has always been Brunette or had Black hair. Snow white has had dark hair for years, of course Apple being blonde what would be a point of concern for her, even outside the show’s lore off the top of my head Apple is the only Blonde Snow White I can think of. Most choices in stories do have context, and trying to claim EAH has hair discrimination against Blonde’s when said Blonde is the first Blonde of a family with mostly Black/Brown hair is just ignoring the context.

One character i wondered about: dutchess swan. How does she even exist? If we are going by the logic the fairy tale humans and other races reproduce sexually (which red ridding hood and big bad wolfs daughters suggest) then how is duchess even alive? She is upset she feels she has to follow her moms fate but if that applied even after the fairytale was over her mother was supposed to be dead. Unless odette and sigfreid did it when they first met and that was literally 10-12 weeks before her death at least (since that is how long it takes for a female swan to make a nest, lay and incubate her eggs before hatching) the time line does not fit and that is of course assuming her gestation time is a swan’s gestation and not the midpoint between swan and human. Unless there was some supernatural magic going on that literally created a child just to torture, her one literally an orphan before birth, that means her story was not her future and ever after high is not training there kids for there future: its training them to be actors! Once there story is told again how they live there lives in the fairy tale world would be theres to chose because the story was complete. That would mean that every adult in the fairytale world was an a***ole because they are literally blaming raven for a part that doesn’t define her off stage and it wasn’t even her actions it was her mom’s. This would also mean that dutchess’ search for a happily ever after would be completely pointless because her ending literally has no baring on her life after the story is told. This one thing opens up so many questions and plot-holes.

Amazing video. Also my thoughts on things from the iceberg. The first is Romana being from Ceries imagination doesn't work with me. I read the post but is it always bothered me and i think it's because it kinda diminishes her character. I know that we don't get along of info on her but if they gave her more screen time or a doll with a diary we could have learn more about her which is kinda sad because i fall in love with her design. So i decided to write her diary that i post on Reddit when i finished or do it. As for the racial higher key that i really don't think about except for Ceries after reading a comment on a doll video with her San Diego Comic-Con Cerise Wolf doll. Which actual makes sense in a way. As for the hair discrimination thing I did not know about that.

As the creator of the Ramona theory, it was never meant diminish Ramona in fact it was supposed to Heighten it.
Instead of repeating the same character beats of Cerise (ie. A child of wolf and Red) and giving her her own story.
The idea is that Romona is aware of the fact that her existence is tied to Cerise’s unstable reality, and knows once cerise accepts the bad wolf, Ramona cease to exists. She goes out of her way to keep Cerise from her destiny so that she could extend it just a little longer, but ultimately that one day the life she has will simply disappear. Even coming face to face with those that knows what she really is.
But she does grow and accept her own destiny when it comes to finally saying goodbye to the world she loved.
It’s an idea of Ramona facing existential dread and finally coming to terms with it.

Most people think the Huntsman is her father. Ramona looks more obviously like a daughter of the big bad wolf so she is gonna get the big bad wolf destiny. Her secret is her mother being Red Riding Hood. Both girls hiding their family secret lets their parents of the hook and people will assume any bad blood the sisters have is because of their destinies. It also helps that both girls take after the parent whose destiny they're claiming.

The white swan/black swan thing actually makes sense for Duchess. In the Swan Lake ballet, both Odette and Odile are played by the same actress, so it’d make sense if Duchess is both the Black and White Swan.

I think it's interesting that straight fans hate Apple and put Raven on a pedestal, but queer fans absolutely adore Apple and understand her character arc because most of us have been there.
James Somerton made a really good video talking about Queer Perfect that I think would be beneficial to look at and a good lens to view Apple through.
I was in her shoes. I was a cheerleader, I modeled, I did good in school, I got engaged to a guy who's father owned a law firm. I thought having a husband and kids was perfect and what would make me happy.
My family also made that love wasn't unconditional. I had to prove myself worthy of it and anything short of perfection often lead to physical abuse and neglect.
So Apple feeling like it's either perfection or death is very much "girl same" to me.
Apple is so queer coded the fact that she was "born wrong" because she's the first Snow White with blonde hair, like this thing out of her control means there's something wrong with her is exactly how I felt about being a lesbian.
I have an amazing and gorgeous girlfriend now and I'm a mortuary science student. I get to be a lesbian openly and get to help alot of people.

1:10:30 . I don't think it was a plothole error, nor a "mistake" that Daring was shown to be Apple's destiny charming. What I'd like to believe, because the book was fake, it only showed what they wanted, or believed was their destiny. If I remember correctly, its said Apple knew even when they were young that Daring was *going* to be her prince charming, so her and everyoe around her believed it, and subconsciously fed into that narrative, which would be why the story book of legends showed them being together

The Ramona is just a figment of cerise imagination theory doesn't hold up tbh ,we see Ramona rarely but she appears by herself in different scenes ,and we also see their father hug them and say he's proud of his daughters. There are little to no clues that indicate Ramona is not real..maybe she just wasn't written initially and added later
I always assumed the darling/daring switch in Apple’s story came from the fact that her story changed. Technically she was poisoned by the apple by an evil queen, it wasn’t her evil queen, and was woken up by a charming who was not ment to be her charming,thus changing the story and diverting from her actual destiny. It could also be that she was poisoned to early, her priorities around love are more around her friends than any romantic relationship which could change how the true loves kiss is interpreted.But that may be giving Mattel to much credit and it’s probably just a plot hole like mentioned in the video.

Briar's existence is so bizarre lmao. How are she and Rosabella *cousins* through their *mothers* if Briar is meant to sleep for 100 years just like her mom? How did RAVEN'S MOM curse BRIAR'S MOM? It'd make far more sense imo if Briar and Rosabella were the ones who were distantly related while Cerise's mom and Sparrow's dad were siblings, and that Raven's mom cursed Briar, not her mom. That has always irked me lmao.
My other nitpick is that Rosabella on paper is basically just Ashlynn with a backburner personality and I wish they hadn't made her an animal rights activist but instead focused on her being a softspoken gardener. Her being just a carbon copy of Ashlynn, especially in a special where she is WITH Ashlynn, doesn't make her stand out in the slightest, and it had the adverse effect of diminishing Ashlynn's character. I don't like Epic Winter lmao. Sure I can get behind Daring being the Beast, that makes perfect sense, but since I don't like Rosabella, I don't like the ship. He had more chemistry with Cerise in a tiny short than he did with Rosabella in a whole film.
I also didn't like Apple at first but she grew on me. I get her motives and I do think that her motives are both selfish and selfless- she often talks about how she wants her happily ever after, but she also is afraid of people she loves going "poof". However once she learns that's not true, her desire for her story to carry out still do just become selfish. She doesn't allow for, say, Faybelle to just take over for Raven, even though Faybelle would love to do so. No, it has to be Raven. And she refuses to understand why that would disturb or scare Raven, all Apple sees is her happy ending. I think that makes her actually pretty interesting? And the fact she's possibly a lesbian with Darling as her true love makes her doubly interesting. Apple doesn't really start to *get* it until she's forced to endure a taste of Briar's fate, but I still don't buy her change of heart at the end of Way Too Wonderland.

I personally loved Apple, she was my favorite character.
I liked her because she was flawed. She had been raised and taught her whole life that this is how things were written and supposed to be; and who wouldn’t want these things to come to pass knowing that everything good would come to you👀😂😂.
Yes she was overly optimistic because the stars aligned in her favor and she desired that.
She was blinded by a perfect life, and then when ppl went against that she began to go through this big identity crisis. It was so intriguing to watch and I loved it.
I loved watching her watch everything unfold before her eyes, that no one was truly happy, but she wanted her happiness to come to pass and would do anything to get it.
She was flawed yes, but she was very much an interesting character.
Maybe this is coming from the perspective of someone was considered a mature child, or the fact that I’m also a story writer (unpublished author), but I LOVE Flawed Characters; especially when they are far from aware.
She was truly out innocent villain, which is a very interesting concept👀🖤🌸
