The battle starts properly in the next video! Sorry, but the deployment is an important part of the battle. It makes a big difference as redeployment is very tricky once the battle gets going.
The next one is a big one. Half an hour of playing through and with rules described. This pre-battle stuff really only takes five minutes or so, but we wanted to show it clearly so it serves as a learning tool as well as pure entertainment.
Another great video! Is there a way to play if we don’t have hexes on our table? Most of my mats and terrain features get used on multiple other games so drawing hexes would be a concern. Thanks for any thoughts!!
I believe it's a square grid, not hexes. You can use small scenic bits to mark the corners - small rocks (boulders at 2mm), or some round bases with shrubs, rocks, etc. on them.
Yes the grid can be very unobtrusive. In fact at demo games most people don’t see it until it’s pointed out! If it doesn’t float your boat, that’s a pity, but it’s not changing!😂
Rewatching this after first read-through of the rules -- this is a good tutorial. Can't wait to play my first game.
That deployment system is certainly unique. And it's a game unto itself, like the Patrol phase in CoC. I like it.
I hope it’s something they’ll make you think a bit without being too slow.
Looking forward to the actual gameplay, thanks!

@@markbackhouse3372 Indeed, I've seen it in the other parts already posted :)
Interesting deployment system. Can see history influencing the rules nicely.
I’m pleased to see that Gavin. I’m hoping it encourages a reasonably historical set up.
Top notch, Lard TV is cracking!
Pleased you are enjoying it!
You rascals! Here we were, ready to see the battle unfold (and to test those deployment strategies), but wait, there's more - join us for episode 5.

@@toofatlardies It's all well done - as good info, but as fun entertainment too (I think we're enjoying the S&H roll-out very much here)!
@@MrFlyXwire that’s good to know. Balancing Information and entertainment is not always easy
We all love a good cliffhanger.
A couple more twists yet!
Nice!

The grid is a complete turn off for me.

@@markbackhouse3372I like the grid. It stops all a lot of the hassle of measuring and geometry problems you encounter in free movement systems.
Come on Divico!!
These Gallic fans are very noisy on the sidelines! 😉😂😂😂
Who was the second JC referred to in this episode?
Caesar??
