  • This series takes a closer look at the eight scholar debate featured in our series, “Which English Translation of the Bible is Best for Christians to Use Today?” and is comprised of excerpts from the debate itself and in-depth commentary by Dr. Ankerberg.
Scholars include Dr. Kenneth Barker, Dr. Arthur Farstad, Dr. Don Wilkins, Dr. Dan Wallace, James White, Dr. Samuel Gipp, Dr. Thomas Strouse, and Dr. Joseph Chambers.
During the debate, our guests discuss the following questions: Are today’s modern translations really the Word of God, or can this only be said about the 1611 King James Version? Did God protect only the Apostles and their original writings from error, or did He also protect certain manuscripts throughout history? Why have the modern translations of the Bible deleted some words and changed others? Did the editors of the 1611 KJV claim perfection for their own version?

    The War in Heaven
…Revelation 12:10And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down-he who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death. 12Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea; with great fury the devil has come down to you, knowing he has only a short time.”…Stop fighting and pray.

im not a KJV only guy.. ive been a Christian since 1983.. started on NASB and now have NIV to go with my NASB to read multiple translations to better understand scripture.
King James wording is too old, archaic for me( and most people to understand). I believe other translations(like NASB, NIV for example) are just as good and make scripture more easily understood... just my take

The entire American and British culture is acquainted with the phrase "on the strait and narrow".
Shall we coin a new phrase "on the narrow and difficult" based on Matthew 7:14 in the NKJV.
Is it difficult to go to Heaven? Or is it just few there be that find it?

Yeah, John is way off base on his ideas about Bible translations. Sam wipes the floor with these guys and does a pretty good job taking on 4-6 of these doctors of doubt.

    Hebrews 2:16
    • AKJV For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
    • NKJV For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. (what text does this come from?)
Are these saying the same thing?
Wasn't it the stated purpose of the NKJV translators to only update the language and fix only clear textual errors?
Is it really true that God helps those who help themselves?
Is He just giving us "first aid"?

King James Bible is way to archaic in wording. The New King James Bible is much clearer in today’s vocabulary.

      What is a Vestibule?
      II Chronicles 15:8
NKJV And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord.
AKJV And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.
      Its a porch!

Are we saved or are we being saved
    2 Corinthians 2:15
    • AKJV For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
    • NKJV For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
(agrees with the Catholic Church teaching: salvation by works)
Sing this to the tune of "Jesus Paid It All": "Jesus paid for some, all the rest I owe. When will I be finished paying, I don't know"

Why would you use James white? He's been proven to be full of the pride of saving face and an extreme Calvinist, why would anyone care about what he thinks these days.

What a mindset you have. Cancel culture everywhere in this world. So bad these days.
"Our society is built on the values of free speech and mutual respect, but cancel culture rejects both. In place of free speech, it demands conformity. Instead of mutual respect, it tears people down." ― Nikki Haley
"Cancel culture is not actually about justice. It is about control. People use cancellation to force conformity to ideals." ― Teal Swan

@@barryjtaft .....Not for telling the truth, but for cancelling people that have a different view and belief than you. That was the point in the comment here that I responded to. Why didn't you understand that?

Are they saying the same thing:
    Romans 11:30-32
AKJV For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
NKJV For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. (works based salvation) (has God committed men to disobedience?)
    Are unbelief and disobedience synonyms?
    Really?

    Hebrews 3:16
    • AKJV For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
    • NKJV For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? (entire Jewish race condemned)
Hath God said NOT all provoked/rebelled...or...hath God said ALL provoked/rebelled.
    Did Caleb rebel?
    Did Joshua rebel?
Did Moses rebel? He was disobedient but is that rebellion?
In any case clearly not all rebelled.
Incidentally God did not lay the charge of rebellion against anyone below the age of 20. Numbers 14:29

    Matthew 20:22
AKJV But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
NKJV But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
Why does the NKJV omit "we are able"?
Because they are not following the traditional text contrary to the translators stated purpose.
According to Arthur Farstad, the executive editor the New King James version (NKJV), the critical text is on every page.

Well this I know, the only people I know who defend Gods word as inerrant are those who love the KJV, if it isnt the KJV where is the preserved word of God? Fact, the KIng James is the only bible Im aware of that isnt copyright, every other bible in the world is so they can make money !

So God led them to put the errors in the KJV then ???? As it clearly has errors. Such a cultist mindset. And there is a lot of that in this fallen world.
