Celebrating with over 1 Hour of Silent Hill 2 trivia, secrets, easter eggs, lore and much more in anticipation of Silent Hill 2 Remake releasing in October. I hope you all enjoy, especially those of you who like to fall asleep to my videos. Have a great weekend. And yes, chapters are provided in the descreption of the video.
The reason why Silent Hill 2 it became a classic is because eventually people began to see how unique, eerie, melancholic and authentic the game's atmosphere it really is, and took the time to enjoy its deeply thoughtful narrative and symbolism. To this day it’s by far one of, if not the most mature examination of grief, sexual trauma, suicide, and morality all combined. It’s an intelligent game that does not hold anyone’s hand and comes at the player with utmost confidence in itself. It’s fantastic stuff. The rest of the original 4 are great in their own right and have their own well written stories, but they don’t hold the same emotional weight to them. I think SH2’s maturity by comparison is something that a lot of people are drawn to. ☯️
It’s amazing how many good reviews a game can get even though it’s a direct rip off of Resident Evil, has zero plot, and ends with a fight with a haunted mattress.
I think this game handled trauma, and grief and mental health so respectfully, I agree with everything u said, I don't think there's another game that's ever handed all these themes respectfully and genuine.❤
@@rifleshooterchannel208 Silent Hill and Resident Evil have virtually nothing in common, except for the originals having similar gameplay structure due to being "survival horror" (puzzles, gradually unlocking doors/areas, monster enemies, item management). Everything from the stories to the developer's philosophy on horror to how combat is approached to everything else is entirely different. I honestly wish these two IPs weren't always compared, because there's a lot of ideas and directions that work with Resident Evil that wouldn't necessarily be good ideas for Silent Hill. "Has zero plot" - this is the part I realized you must be trolling/ baiting. Resident Evil has a plot about secret laboratories in a mansion and a virus making people into zombies and you're saying with a straight face that SH2 has "zero plot". If you are serious I want the number of your dealer. I love both games, I'm old enough having played them when they were originally released and I admit RE games are more fun, have aged better but if you are seriously saying they have a better plot than SH2 you need to get examined.
Pretty much all sound affects in video games were stock before the 2000s, it was rare to record any sounds that werent music, voice acting or folly audio for cutscenes
Still looks like an absolutely embarrassing modern slop. That Maria scene is still beyond salvation when it comes to VA and cinematography work, and the gameplay = literal TLOU.
@@GugureSux how is it tlou? There’s no stealth and the only pickups are health or ammo. There’s no parts for crafting or upgrades. It’s literally just what it always has been aside from the new camera perspective
Also, about fact 11... you're wrong. The whispers are from a catalogue of sound samples used in the game and by Akira Yamaoka and it isn't saying that. That's an old rumor and the whisper was not created by Team Silent.
@@morganlak4337 Yeah as far as I know. It sounds like one person whispering what you'd whisper if someone prompted you to whisper gibberish under your breath. There are kind of words in there, but not really, and then your imagination fills in the rest.
@@morganlak4337It's just gibberish, but IMO a big reason why the rumors took off is because it kind of sounds like the voice is saying "I see my dead wife"
Also doing another play through after watching this made the pool in the apartment building make way more sense. Mary was smothered, james supposedly drowned himself, and hopes of having a kid was also "drowned" is that why there is exactly 3 lying figures and a baby carriage in the pool?
Also, you find the Snake Coin in the baby carriage, and the coin puzzle ties the snake to the Biblical Creation story and the snake being the deceiver. I've always interpreted this to mean that maybe James deceived himself into thinking that having a child with Mary would improve their circumstances.
37:49 This is beautiful this must be the letter James gives to Laura in Leave ending, that should explain why Laura forgives James and leaves Silent Hil with him
7:57 you forgot to mention James is the only Legendary cosmetic that got an official rendered portrait for the character selection menu but got unused and never updated. 1:01:33 The figure on the center cage reminds me to Lisa Garland
Your wrong on mary being in James' trunk. Thats an assumption made by people when the dev said mary's body was in the car, mostly due to cultural differences. Guy Cihi said in a commentary that he thinks the dev meant that mary was in the back seat. This actually makes sense as the view into James' car obscures the backseat, and when James drives his car into taluca lake, its believed that the intent is to mimic the japanese concept of (im probably spelling this wrong) moodishinjū. Which is a ritualistic suicide of a family in order to redeem themselves from some grave sin that is considered to have stained the family. This goes so far as to include even the children, and the deaths are often covered up, with everyone avoiding bringing them up.
I get what ito says about the inclusion in dbd, but to me it’s perfectly fine. In the dbd lore, after James leaves silent hill pyramid head is about to enter the long rest and basically go dormant. The entity whispers to his manifestation before he rests and gives him a new purpose and to stop hunting james.
"James may struggle with disassociative periods" *Dissociative...* not _dis-associative_ lmao. As someone with depersonalization/derealization disorder, this alliteration is so funny because I hear it all the time lol. But it's not big deal, and I totally agree that this is what James is doing. Your hands are the most absurd looking thing when it first comes over you. I've had it for so long that it's pretty much a non-issue unless I see something that really messes with my head or freaks me out. But your hands are always the first thing you notice that look odd while having a flare up.
I feel you. Been dealing with it since highschool, almost 15 years ago. It happens a lot when I’m driving. It’s like my arms and hands detach and I’m looking through a camera instead of my eyes. So weird.
it always boggles me that mary is modeled after christina aguilera ( well i mean her clothes look dead on) but she always reminds me of kirsten dunst much more facially

Although I prefer the "leave" ending, in water seems to make most sense not only for James' mental state, but for his disappearance along with his wife mentioned in 4. Leave implies James leaves a changed man that will atone for his sins(turn himself to the police) so I doubt he would just get rid of the body and disappear with Laura
Can someone explain to me how we know james turned to alcohol and that james and mary wanted a child? Ive been searching the internet but cant find out how these details came forth.
There's a part in the game where you can come across some cases of wine, and if you examine it, James comments that he's been drinking a lot lately to deal with the pain and loneliness of losing Mary.
@@Kintsugi23fun fact: in the Silent Hill 2 novel, James shares that he also drinks to deal with his feelings and he's an angry drunk. Even his coworkers hate him cause of it.
