Here are the main products I used for this faux fireplace: Smart Tiles (fireplace surround): bit.ly/2D7aMQJ (other option) amzn.to/2EDMeMh Fireplace electric log insert (only used as a decorative element): amzn.to/2D5X69w Screws I used that don’t require pre-drilling: amzn.to/2DtDZ6f
You did a great job, I would recommend painting the back wall of the fire box with a semigloss paint so that the reflection from the faux logs will create the flame effect.
Such a great idea! In my country you rarely have a fireplace in a rental or even a house. It's becoming more popular but then they always install these modern ones made of metal. I love this DIY!
This is soooo awesome. What types of changes would i need to make in order to actually use a heater option? or is that something that can't be done with these materials?
Just received this video, you truly are a very clever lady. Really thinking of doing this, as we had our fireplace taken out and blocked up and now just have a bare space. as this is in the middle of our through lounge, it seem to look so bare and gives you the feeling something is missing. My son said he would like to put a fire in the that place, but I didn't want to have to knock out all the hard work he had done previously. So this is the perfect idea. I have just sent him your link, as like you, I only want a fire for the cosy look, not to actually use, as my home is centrally heated.xx
I love this project. So clever! I'm eyeing the mess of our console under our mounted flatscreen as I type. Also loved watching you with the miter saw. It's great that we get to see you doing the builds (complete with wood cuts) from start to finish in these videos. Also, great tip on the self-drilling screws, the wall anchor and applying the Smart Tiles. Love it! V-
It's all your fault...I use furring strips for so many projects now. This is a very creative project and looks very nice in your living room. Great job! If I may make a suggestion... It needs a fireplace screen to complete the look. Even if it's as simple as some furring strips painted black as a frame and some black window screen stretched around it. And maybe some squares or circles added to the front for a decorative look. Your videos are so very good I really look forward to them. I'm not a creative person but you inspire me to try. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with all of us!
I just found your videos and this one project fulfills the last project I'd like to do in my bedroom. I love the glass fireplace look that's sleek and modern. I think I'll use your ideas to make a shallow, high-placed fireplace so it can be seen when in the bed and across the room. I have bought and returned unused those peel on tiles. They look good on your project!
Wow! This is exactly what I had in mind to build a fireplace that I can take with me when I move it’s in seeing how you even fastened it into the wall the way I imagined I would fasten mine I’m so happy I ran into this video this is perfect.
I'm so mad! This video didn't come up in my subscription feed and had I not been following you on IG, I wouldn't have known you'd posted. Well, no worries...I'm watching now and the video doesn't disappoint. Thanks for sharing.
